  1. It is so amusing how much faith people put into Merck's comments....

You know....there once was this manager named Merck who called Eddie Trunk a liar when he claimed to have played IRS on the air. As soon as IRS leaked on the internet, was there an "ooops" or a "I must have been mistaken"? No, just a "please don't share this file because the band doesn't want you to".

In other words, he tells you what he wants you to think, not what is the complete truth.

What about all the shitty rumours he clears up for us, The supposed shows, bandmembers leaving, he is nice enough to clear up any speculation. In my opinion when he said 2005 was the year of guns n roses he was sincere in what he said, only it took a bit longer to get everything moving.

As for the IRS leak i dont much about it so cant really comment, but hey maybe he said it wasnt played to stop over eager fans going out of there way to get a 3 minute poor quality copy of a kick ass song? Which means he done so in the interest of the fans!

If I recall correctly, it was Dizzy who said BucketHead had not been a part of the band since the December prior to his "departure". And when Merck was asked once about BucketHead's "out of the band" rumor....he denied it. He only confirmed it later. So who is to say his word is gold? It's only gold when AXL confirms it(RIR excuse).

And it isn't logical to think that Merck does things in the interest of the fans. He is an employee to GNR, NOT the fans. He denied the radio leak why? Confirming the song played on the radio doesn't have anything to do with the MP3. He will do what AXL wants first(denying the radio leak and then trying to limit the mp3's spread.), what he wants to do second, and the fans come third. It is fanclubs that serve the fans, NOT management.

All I am saying is that asking Merck won't get you a 100% believeable answer. The only true confirmation will come from AXL himself.

  3. Well AXL definately isn't very creative when it comes to style. Just about everything he has done has been copied from someone at some point. The bandana wasn't his....the shuffle wasn't his.......running around on the stage wasn't his.......and at one point, CD wasn't his, he wanted a NIN type of sound. And now with it being later in his carreer, he's gone to braids and hip hop clothes..Chameleon?

The main thing that was his own style was not showing up to concerts....or was that George Jones? :drevil:

Personally, who gives a fuck, I don't really care to see a grown man dance on stage, run around, wear something from someone else's closet. I just want the music, plain and simple.

  4. Strippers everywhere should start painting their tits just in case.....Paint "Chinese" on the right one, then paint "Democracy" on the left. Subliminal!!! Get to work....

LOL, Or, maybe if they tried this approach...

    I can hear it now....

"That girl....that girl right there....you listenin to me Mr. Bouncer man? That girl right there GONE!!!!"

  5. You might be right, but GN'R and Motley Crue are two completely different animals. First of all, despite what their fans may have thought, MC is not a band that really has a chance to change anything...not if all they do is tour and release what, one or two mediocre at best songs? They need to create another album as good as Dr. Feelgood to have a chance at changing something. Quality isn't something you have to worry about with GN'R.

And second, MC didn't really go away like GN'R has. People talk of this being a big reunion, but the last new MC record was in 2000. Then they reunite in 2004? Whoopee. GN'R doesn't even have to reunite to be bigger than MC's return...the first new album from Axl Rose in fifteen years is much, much bigger than Red White & Crue. And if GN'R did reunite, well that would be only about a million times bigger than what MC did in 2004.

I am not suggesting Axl is going to change the course of music...all I'm saying is that comparing GN'R to MC is comparing apples to oranges. MC simply did not do enough to make that big an impact. Axl...well, we don't know yet, do we?

True, it may be comparing apples to oranges when speaking of the bands but when speaking of the non-fanbases opinion of the two, it's apples to apples. The only real difference will be which fanbase has the best reaction. Considering that GNR has many hurdles to overcome....One original member, a presumed change in musical style and a ridiculously hyped return with the mysterious "CD", it is a very similar comparison.

I am not saying they won't be a success because even with 5 million fans, that's all you need. BUT, "changing the face of music" or "taking back the throne" isn't a realistic expectation. But that is fine, the quality of the fanbase is more important than the quantity of fans in the long run.

  6. The same situation as Motley.....all of their fans thought it would transform things, the media rode it a little bit and now what? Noone outside of the fanbase really gives a fuck. Yeah GNR were bigger than motley but the ketword is were.

If AXL doesnt rant, the media won't give a shit, if he doesn't get in trouble, he'll take the backseat to Blink 182. After all, the "bizz" is all about what the kiddies want, not what the down to earth people want. Kiddies don't want GNR, they want bubblegum punk bands and wanna be's showing them the new fashion fad.

GNR, do you know where you are? You in the underground baby, love it or die....

  7. Strippers everywhere should start painting their tits just in case.....Paint "Chinese" on the right one, then paint "Democracy" on the left. Subliminal!!! Get to work....

    uh oh

No. He said we'll hear music, he didn't say GNR music. ;)

By music he probably means they'll do a show filled with the regular set list while we still wait for CD. Then he can say...."Well I told you that you would hear music this year fuckers!!!!!"

  8. Satriani is the best fit for GNR. His ego probably wouldn't allow him but those riffs with Axl's vocals would own all!!

From what I've heard, Finck just doesn't cut the mustard. Technique can be improved and I will stay open minded.

    uh oh

I just hope he didn't resurface simply to give a boost to merch sales

With as many band members that don't know squat, I am yet to believe this album will come out. CD will be the next GNR merchandise I buy, nothing else. Til then, "the well is dry".

  9. "So Fine", sounds like some backstreet boys shit.....

    "Bad Apples", boring

The first half of lies....not sold on Patience either. Overrated song.

Basically don't listen to any of the songs that were singles, radio friendly spoonfuls of sugar for the groupies. Except for YCBM & Garden of Eden.

Can't believe "Coma" was listed :o . Nonlinear and amazing.

  10. Very good question, I have wondered this also. I think that with as much time has passed, he couldnt still be as pissed off as he may have been. I doubt it would be "Double talkin jive"-ish. I think by now, if it were such an intense breakup behind the scenes as claimed, I think AXL's most likely response would be...."The music will do all of the talking." A kickass record stating..."should've stayed for the ride PAL!" is what I expect IF we ever see it. Of course this is all speculation but with the way the man is(doesn't force his opinion down the public's throat), silent vengeance is to be expected. After all, why give attention to something or someone you are trying to put in the past? "The Garden" - "sure glad to know ya....bye bye...so long!"

MaryJane, you too good to me.

  11. Ive noticed lately that in the NFL and even just now in the Steelers and Colts game, they play WTTJ alot

Uh, they have been doing that for years, happens in many sports. Please don't start thinking...."omg wttj is being played to the public! AXL is doing it to promote CD!!!"

Did i say that? No, I was just telling everyone about it, calm down

Old news, like I said, they have been doing it for years....Baseball does it, Hockey does it etc. etc....Welcome to yesterday.
