Ok, let's not get crazy over here. Axl was great on the last show, but he's still not as good as in 2010. He's getting there, but he's not there yet and Paradise City was much raspier in 2010.

    Just a reminder:

Keep in mind he is sitting breathing isn't what it's supposed to be. You just can't sing as well sitting down. Props for what he's done

  2. None of you fuckers are fans if u continuously bash Axl. Yes he struggled. Obvious. I didn't expect a power performance leading in Vegas. Better ain't an easy song to sing. He was missing a few ranges but he'll recover. Always does. Have faith fans. All u cynics. FUCK U. Thanks to GNR for being a part of this event. Not for money. For the kids. Just think how many paid that $5.

  3. I have heard a ton of different answers such as...

He was depressed as his mother died? (I heard his mother died, so this could be true)

He cut his hair and didn't want to be seen with short hair? (doubt he would do that)

He had throat surgery? (he sounded fine at RIR 2001)

He had a drug issues? (Possible)

He was upset over Kurt Cobains death? (doesn't make sence really)

So what was the real reason or your thoughts on why he made no public apearances from 1995-2000?

Getting a new band together, writing songs, etc. He mentioned that he had material where he could have just written a "new Appetite" but chose to completely reinvent the wheel so to speak.

If you don't know, Axl's not a very *public* person in that he avoids the media at all costs. So it's not that he was in hiding, but that he was hiding from the media. Or as Axl puts it, there are very few people in the media that want to hear what he wants to say. They only care to spin *rumors* to say what they want to say.

So for us the fans, if Axl avoids the media, then obviously, we will not know what is happening with him. So, it will seem like he is off doing nothing but hiding in his mansion.

Here's a little brief history of the '90s:

    End of 1992-1993

Axl said on the Eddie Trunk radio show that the plan was to do another AFD-like album after the UYI tour ended.

By this, he meant stripped-down and simple songs like those on AFD - not that, there were any intentions to try to duplicate the success of AFD. Just simple rock songs that wouldn't take too long to do and get out to the fans.

This would have been just like the Lies album that GnR put out for the fans - to past time - as GnR worked on their next major studio album: the UYI albums.

But the plans went to the gutter because Slash refused. Why did Slash refused?

As Axl then also stated: Slash does not like the songs on AFD. He only cared for his parts.

In other words, the style of the songs on AFD is not the style of rock music that Slash likes to create - as evident by the kind of music Slash put out post-GnR. None of Slash's post-GnR work sound anything like GnR!

    Slash's Snakepit

At the time, Slash had begun building up his stash of Snakepit songs that he wanted to push as the next GnR album.

But Slash would not allow Axl's or anybody else's creative input in improving the songs he came up with. Axl had to sing to Slash's songs as-is without any tinkering or modifications.

Sound familiar? This is exactly the same reason why Slash hated Libertad, which consequently help lead to the breakup of VR, ie. firing of Scott Weiland. Slash gave into Scott Weiland on Libertad and allowed Scott to have a lot of creative input on Libertad. As Slash stated publicly after Scott Weiland's firing: the next VR singer must sing exactly to the songs he creates - no changes at all!

    Mid-Late 1993

So because Slash and Axl could not reach a comprise on this AFD-like album, GnR thus decided to just put out their cover album, "The Spaghetti Incident". TSI was release November 23, 1993.

TSI was a close as you could get to getting a stripped-down rock album from GnR. Of course, not exactly the same sound and vibe as AFD, but you get the picture.

    Late 1994:

They then followed TSI up by covering the Rolling Stones song, "Sympathy for Devil", as a soundtrack song to the movie, "Interview with a Vampire". This song was released in December of 1994.

One of the reasons why they did this cover song was to try get every one in the band working together again. By this time, GnR did not have a rhythm guitarist, so Axl got his good friend Paul Huge to do rhythm guitar parts. But Slash hated Paul Huge! And of course, Slash could have recorded the rhythm parts himself as well. So instead of bringing the band back together, the tensions between Axl and Slash grew even bigger!

    1995-1997

By this time, the plan for an AFD-like album was long ditched as now the focus was on the next BIG album for GnR.

Slash still insisted on his Snakepit songs being the next GnR album, and still would not allow Axl any creative input. And of course by this time, Axl had already begun putting the early ideas together on what we all now refer to as "Chinese Democracy".

During this time, Axl attempted to pair Slash up with a few other guitarists as well. But nothing worked out. By October of 1996, Slash officially QUIT GnR.

Duff then officially resigned from GnR in August of 1997.

    1998-2000

New band members assembled and began implementing Chinese Democracy.

    For more details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns_N'_Roses

So as you can see, much of 1993-1997 was spent trying to keep the old band together. Then much of 1997-2000 was spent getting new band members and getting work done on what we now call "Chinese Democracy".

Of course, during this time Axl had many legal problems to deal with. And these legal problems did occupy a lot of Axl's time and energy. But hopefully you can see that Axl was very much focused on GnR.

Most of these facts have been stretched by media propaganda. Axl is no recluse. He just knows where the media isn't. He spent a lot of time following his love of F1 and fashion. He finally had time to bond with Beta, Fernando and Vanessa as well. Axl spent most of his time inside the studio. Anyone that knows Axl, knows he is a perfectionist and a workhorse. Not a bad thing if you don't mind waiting for the next BIG album.

The Slash comments are very pro Slash imo. There has been tension between Axl and Slash since the pre-release of Illusions. Axl not wanting to do a big tour at that time, drug issues and most of all, legal issues dating back to the Appetite days and the infamous St. Louis incident. Slash decided to leave the band mentally in 93 to focus on solo projects. Axl tried to tighten the strings and pull the band back together. Causing more tension and now it impacted the rest of the band especially Duff. He never blamed Axl for the break-up which is why we've seen him onstage with GNR in recent years. Same with Izzy.

Slash, oth, is very greedy and did as much damage to Axl as possible. Tried to railroad his auditions, music library and friends.

When you have legal issues, you are under a microscope with everything ya do. Last but not least, Stephanie Seymour.

Word of advice. Believe nothing you hear, half of what u see and be very critical of what u read on the net!

  4. I was a part of the UYI Tour as some of ya know. I can tell ya first hand that rain can cause some very serious delays. Water weight on the front truss, power cabling, boards and light rigs, pyro and of course slippery conditions caused by water build-up on the stage surface. SOAD did have a huge production and it can take a lot of time to remove safely when there is water involved. Take it for what it's worth. Fact is.. G N' Rdid play an extended set instead of just going home.

True fans wiill support this. All of u plastic gunners will find a way to bitch. Let's begin /m\

  5. I've noticed that whenever Axl has performed with a high profile musician eg. Sebastian Bach, Duff etc, he's always had competition, meaning that to have the limelight he had to really put in effort. With his current bandmates, no matter how he sings, he will always be regarded by fans at the show as the spot of all attention. In my opinion, I can see that this isn't a very motivating factor for him to be putting in full effort to sing since even when he doesn't the attention is still all his.

Great analogy but ya totally missed the mark. The reason for the vocal differences is due to the fact these are warm-up shows. He doesn't do vocal training per say. Axl's training is the live performance. It's already gotten better in 3 shows. Give it time /m\

  6. You're dead on. Wet cold is the worst. All you can think about is getting inside and getting warm. He probably had concerns about what happened last time in Rio with the collapse too in 2010. It's when he sat at the piano for NR that he seen people heading for the exit. You can clearly see him look into the crowd in confusion. All these things weigh heavy in light of recent events such as US and UK disasters.

  7. I dug the show.. Axl was getting poured on, nobody recognizes that.

The rain made him out of breath - starting in song one?

No dude but the rain sucks the energy out of the crowd. Axl feeds off that. If that was anywhere but South America, Axl would've left.

  8. This moanin' and cryin' bullshit is almost enough for me to leave this fuckin' place. I have too much respect for the band and the site to let some pussy start a wildfire over somethin' he/she knows fuck all about. You waited over an hour for GNR and complained, they hit the stage. You complain. They play Estranged. You complain. You cocksuckers wouldn't know talent if it kicked ya in the ass. Axl is getting older, doesn't rehearse, had time off. We don't have any clue as to what he's been up to during his downtime. We also don't if he had a cold, flu, family issues etc. Stop speculating. Go watch some other band cuz u ain't no gunner I'll tell ya that much. Just a bunch of punks tryin' to stir shit up.

    FUCK YOU!!

Did you not hear the performance? I can see why people are not happy. Telling others not to complain is ridiculous, it is absolutely warranted in this case. Maybe some people are trying to stir shit up but the majority of us are frustrated that the potential of this band does not line up with what ended up happening last night

I'm not referring to the "disappointed fans" I'm referring to the "never happy posers" You all know who you are. A piece of advice tho... Don't get tough and try to challenge me. It never ends well. A few know what I'm talkin' about. Again, this was Axl's return, rained heavily. If he wasn't sick before, he is now. I feel he tried his best except during NR. Calling him "off" is one thing. But ta call him worthless, a has been, lazy, selfish etc. It's just insanity. The guy, band in tow, played 30 songs in the pouring rain at 3AM+ Rio time. Give them a break and be a fan. Support whatever happens next.

As for you fuckers sayin' you may not go to the US concerts now. I challenge you publicly to give away your tickets to a true fan who will enjoy them immensely. Uncle Axl doesn't want bullshit fans, he wants the diehard ones that have been there from the beginning. 1985 that is.

  9. This moanin' and cryin' bullshit is almost enough for me to leave this fuckin' place. 10. It is the weekend. Twitter likely can't fix it til tomorrow... Also, the reason the tweet hasn't been deleted is if the hacker is still in control of Axl's account... Then I'm willing to bet that he/she has changed the password and credentials. Give it time Gunners. Don't give up on GNR yet!!!

Axl has done a 180 since this tour started in 2009. He hasn't done anything to ruin the fan perspective of him. Diehards know what I'm talkin' bout!!!

  11. Some of you guys need to get off the image bullshit. I would love to have a full head of hair and a flat stomach but as you get older its just some of the shit that happens. Be thankful Guns played a show in the USA and have another leg of a tour on the horizon over seas. I could give to shits if it was Jabba the Hut on the stage, as long as they are playing music I could give a fuck as to what they look like. Just another prime example how jaded people have became. You wanna bitch about someone else's image but in return you have no room to talk. Isn't that right Fabio!? Just for reference I am no Axl worshiper, I just get tired of reading some of your dumb ass comments. And you wonder why the band won't show face on the message boards anymore.
