I thought he was awesome. When I introduced myself, he recognized me from twitter and gave me a huge hug.

Steven tweeted that he's hanging out with Matt on the Sunset Strip tonight...

1. Houston 2011
I had decent seats (right next to the inflatable hand), it was a three hour show and everything was amazing and I finally got to hear Don't Cry for the first time live. AND Axl told us the whole story of the song, which meant a lot to me and I couldn't even believe it was happening. And I had after show passes and everyone was really lovely.
2. New Years Eve Vegas 2001
The first time I saw them live, it was a special time and I felt like I was witnessing history being made.
3. Dallas 2011
Almost as amazing as Houston but it was a shorter show and Axl messed up November Rain. I've been wanting to see them since '92 when my parents wouldn't let me see them in Dallas, so it was special to see them in Dallas finally.
I'm pretty sure the show I'm going to in Vegas on New Years is going to be pretty amazing, too.

Looks like Sebastian is opening both nights...pretty excited about that, never seen him live.

GNR on Facebook:
YOUNGSTOWN O-HI-O! Covelli Centre's our jungle tonight! So close yet still far away from the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all the 2012 inductees and our sincerest thanks to the Hall's organizers, committee members and voting delegates who supported the GN'R induction - it's a humbling honor to be recognized on this first ballot. While it's so easy to get hyped up on awards and recognition of the now, let's never forget the soldiers who fight for the freedom we enjoy. ESPECIALLY on this day 70 years ago at Pearl Harbor, the lagoon in Hawaii where the ultimate price was paid. REMEMBER December 7th is the day to commemorate the Japanese attack that drew the United States into World War II.
TODAY is PEARL HARBOR DAY ☮

Groovy...I was there. It was awesome.

He added 'with your ass in the air'?? Whoa! That's a first for the tour, folks. A good sign indeed.
He said it in Houston, I remember 'cause I was all happy about it.

My boyfriend and I just decided we're going to this...I'm so effing excited 'cause the NYE show in 2001 was my first GNR concert ever. Soooo excited.

They did have an aftershow at the Atlanta concert. BUt I suppose that nobody from this board went to it .
seriously dude...relax.
they are usually small quaint get togethers. some chatting, some pics, and then the time comes...and...it's obviously your time to leave.
I'm sure they are basically identical at every show.
That's exactly how it was in Houston. In Dallas it was a little different but not much...just a lot more trashy whores and booze.

Looks like the band is still in Dallas...from their Facebook: "Lobby call to go spend some time with the kids at Medical City Children's Hospital."
How cool is that?

Wow, that was awesome. Didn't expect that from the Observer.
I thought the same thing about Axl's mic. It was pretty hard to hear him during the louder songs and yet he was perfectly clear on Don't Cry and Patience.
-
I sat right next to the inflatable hand, it was pretty groovy. They inflated it about halfway through the show.

I went to both Houston and Dallas...Dallas was awesome and I was mind blown by the 10:00 start time, but I have to say Houston was like 10 times more amazing. Axl was in a good mood and sounded in top form at both shows but there was just something extra in Houston. And honestly, I didn't even notice Better being left out in Dallas because everything was so seamless and flowing anyway. Whatever the case, both shows were fucking amazing and I can't believe I've spend this weekend going to two GNR shows in Texas, it's been so long since they've been here. Don't Cry was the highlight for me, but maybe I'm biased. I couldn't believe Axl told us the whole story before he sang it in Houston. I was freaking out, lols.
I also had after show passes for both shows and met everyone but Dizzy and Axl. Everyone was so cool and so up for talking about anything. DJ is a sweetheart, especially. Tommy is hilarious.
Epic fucking nights and I'm sad it's all over.

I asked Fernando on twitter about opening acts and he said, "I don't believe so, right now we got a band named Sword, thoughts?"
So whatever that means.

Eddie's twitter...
Tons of questions about Axl interview. He was in great spirits, wide awake at 6A (unlike us), & talked about everything. You will see 11/11Everything!

Um Eddie just posted this on twitter...soooo excited.

Are all facebook pages so blue-blah - here's a 2011 resolution: lay some tracks on this page.

Kurt Loder asks him what he thinks about the banning of controversial music like 2 Live Crew. Axl says it's ridiculous and if they're worried about how it would affect their kids, maybe they shouldn't have had kids in the first place. Kurt asks him if he'd feel differently about that if he had kids, Axl doesn't think he would, even if the kid did something bad based on a song that suggested it or whatever.
-
I'd dig it. I think he's underrated as a pianist.

Then again, it was late in Abu Dhabi; maybe he'd had a few to drink, hadn't slept in a while (he's always tweeting about not being able to sleep) and a whole year of touring was getting to him. Maybe he was just frustrated. Maybe he misses his fiancee and kid. It'll all be over in a few days, let's not jump to conclusions so quickly.
-
Tommy seems to be having some kind of existential crisis in Abu Dhabi...(from his twitter)
being pushed to the end of ones rope for so long will make you a good climber,or road kill. i'm gonna find a new treemaybe just a new rope will sufficei'll shovel snow before i shovel anymore horseshit... -
