These episodes get better and better. I’ve been a lurker on this forum since the beginnings, just never been a regular poster. I’d love to hear more interviews of the key players on here. This is becoming my favorite podcast.
Thank you, that means a lot. It’s honestly becoming a passion project. I had lost some passion being on boring classic rock radio stations, with all the time restrictions to speak and the same songs over and over again. In the past I’ve tried different podcast ventures, non GNR, but they fizzled out.
I will always credit @Elevation516 for coming up with this GNR podcast idea for us. Now after so much positive feedback (can’t make it up) and the media shift to podcasting in general (IMO), it only makes sense to keep doing it, see where this can go....

I reached out to Downzy and Russ to be interviewed...the concept of forums, this one in particular have always interested me. Not just for GnR reasons, but a human level. The endless hours devoted to them, whether in maintaining or simply having a conversation. I wanted to do this episode for awhile.

I used to listen to your podcast through The standard iPhone-application. Now I've got a new (Android) phone and would like to listen it through the standard app in this Phone (acast) but I can't find it! So my question is:
Is it my lack of skill in finding things that are at fault here or do you just release your podcast through soundcloud and iTunes?
Would really love to hear this one since ALT is The best album that slash has been involved in since UYI.
SoundCloud, iTunes or the iHeartRadio and Spreaker apps too. All free.

Just listened to it, you guys did a great job. Maybe I'm even more die hard than you guys, but I would have loved some questions about the recorded but unreleased tracks like Bleed or What Kind Of Life and why they were on the early promo discs but not on the final album, and how they recorded the song Aint Life Grand considering it's a rerecording of a track called Burnout slash recorded in 1992 with Lenny Kravitz and Duff. If it's much different to the original etc. Maybe next time? Gonna start listening to your earlier podcasts now!
Yes! Next time for sure. We welcome the die-diehards to contribute and correct us if needed. Appreciate the feedback 🤘🏻

Ryan says in this interview that he did go on a leg/tour before exiting. Was news to me too.
Same here! Especially since I can’t find a picture of Ryan with Snakepit. He said he has “on many hard drives ago.”

Calling in from Sweden, veteran guitarist Ryan Roxie joins Brando and Scotto on episode 34. Roxie has recorded several albums with Alice Cooper and currently tours with the shock-rock legend. He has also teamed with Gilby Clarke and was a member of Slash’s Snakepit for their 2nd record, Ain’t Life Grand.
Ryan shares stories of how soon the idea of Snakepit came after the demise of GnR, the album-making process with Slash, his journey as a musician, and so much more!

I thought you previously had a different name on here?
Ah! That was my partner Scotto on the show. Elevation I think is his user name.

Another good show @Gambit83. When did you change your name?
I had actually put this documentary in my list on amazon to watch. I am watching it now.
Thank you! But what do you mean change my name?

In episode 32 of The AFD Show, Brando is first joined by journalist, Mr. Art Tavana, who gives us an update on his Guns N' Roses book and takes part of our new "Get in the Ring!" feature.
Art also joins Brando in interviewing Desi Benjamin. Desi is a former Talent Scout at Virgin Records, a roadie for Faster Pussycat AND for Slash before GnR got signed! He now has released the documentary "Scenesters: Music, Mayhem, and Melrose Ave. 1985-1990. Desi shares the reason behind his movie, interactions with a young Izzy Stradlin, his appearance in the legendary "The Decline of Western Civilization Part II" (https://www.youtube.com/embed/pWb_zza8vVM ...at the end!), and so much more! Enjoy!!

*This episode was recorded hours before the tragic events in Las Vegas. This podcast promotes love and unity through music and concerts. We will continue to spread this message.*
Before Izzy was in Guns N' Roses and Hollywood Rose, he had a brief stint in a band called Shire. On guitar in Shire was not Izzy, but Alan Santalesa . Izzy played BASS.
In episode 29, Italian musician Alan Santalesa shares amazingly hilarious and unfortunate stories of a young Izzy Stradlin, Axl Rose, and how his career has had 1 to many "Spinal Tap" moments. Including how Freddie Mercury's death derailed a major break! Hope you enjoy!!

Finally got through listening to the entire Raz Cue interview - nearly two hours, wow! Had to laugh at the bit about Axl, Tracii and the leather pants Thanks for posting the link on here.
I've bought Raz's book, hopefully I can settle down with it this weekend.
Another interviewee idea to consider might be Desi Benjamin, he made that recent "Scenesters" film about late 1980s Los Angeles. As mentioned elsewhere among the discussions, he was an early roadie for the band and would have his own stories about how the band developed and began to stand out from the rock crowd. Here's the Amazon link to his film:

All the best.Awesome suggestion, I'll look into it!
Thanks for baring through 2 hours! Ha. I TRY to make the episodes an hour, but sometimes you need to go long.

Hey all! Had the recent pleasure of interviewing Corey and Paolo from the metal band Trivium. Corey often sites Slash and UYI2 as to why he's a musician. Also Slash has been seen rocking a Trivium shirt on stage so we asked if they would open for GnR. With the diverse openers they've had, I'm surprised it hasn't happened.
Also in the previous episode we interview Kevin, just a fan from Ireland who has a great life story that ties into GnR. If any of you feel you have the same, don't hesitate to reach out. You don't have to be famous to tell a great Guns N' Roses story! Hope you enjoy and appreciate all the feedback on these shows so far!!

Thanks man! Kat got back to us but she's super busy at the moment. Hopefully in the future!
45 minutes ago, killuridols said:Susan and Meegan have become very popular among the fans but Im not sure this is the moment for them to talk.
And yes, I think Slash and Duff would be nervous but I also think the girls are trained on what must be said or not about Axl.
For example, in the latest Hello! Magazine from UK, Susan speaks wonders about Axl and in general, I think she knows how to conduct herself regarding that.
Meegan would need some more training I guess, and she's more difficult to interview because of her past with Axl, that it is not cool at all.
Any sharp journalist would try to break her and that's the dangerous part of it.
We always tell the guests that if there's anything that they don't want, we cut it out. We're not out to get anyone in trouble and we always want people coming back. A "GNR Safe Space" if you will 😁.

How about getting Susan and Meegan on @Gambit83
I sent Susan an email a few months ago on her website. I can only imagine how busy she is and I'll follow up again. Meegan I need to reach out to definitely.

Listening now. Great interview! Lots of cool early GnR trivia. Good insights into how the scene worked and what the community was like. Still plenty to listen to.
Great job once again!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot. Always open to suggestion for guests from this knowledgeable forum.

There was another thread concerning Raz's new book "The Days of Guns, & Raz's," so if this needs to be moved I understand.
https://www.amazon.com/RAZ-CUE/e/B0046X2OY2
BUT...for first time, literally ever, Raz did an official interview. He was paralyzed at the age of 15, then went on to manage LA Guns and introduce Tracii Guns to Axl, who would go on to create that "side project" called...Guns N' Roses. Raz also recalls Axl becoming the very first singer for LA Guns?! This is the just tip of the iceberg of Raz's story. Hope you enjoy!!

He didn't really 'talk' GN'R. He pretty much said the same thing words for words as his Loudwire interview last year.
Fair enough. I was still bummed because he is a nice guy. Offered to talk about everything else in his life too.

Unreal. When we reached out to Bumble for our GNR podcast he said no because he didn't want to talk GNR anymore. Very disappointing since Bumble was my very 1st professional radio interview ever back in '06.

Appetite for Distortion - Ep. 37: Scott Ian, Anthrax

I recently had the opportunity to interview Scott Ian about his new book. When I saw Axl/DC at Madison Square Garden, Scott, Charlie Benante, and Norman Reedus were in the crowd so of course I asked him about it. Scott's view on Axl in AC/DC is awesome and honest. Enjoy!
