Flea - This guy knows how to incorporate bass playing into songs, making full use of his instrument. Love his style.
Others : Entwistle, Bruce, Squire, Burton, Harris

I've heard alot about them. What is it about Laiho's singing thats shit exactly? (I haven't heard any material by this band, just to clarify)
-
I actually voted for The Beatles in the poll by the way, I just think Metallica are better musicians.
-
Metallica are better
Beatles are greater

No

Imagine that, coming from you of all people

Thanks for all the great help so far. Another question I have is in regards to picking. Is it supposed to be an up and down motion on every string or whatever feels natural?
Thanks Again,

Depends what you're feeling. For the the first few months I played I got stuck in a rut of almost downpicking everything, but doing that is hopeless if you want to rip out some solos.
Try some exercises with alternate picking and soon enough you'll naturally do it when necessary.

Funny you should mention "The Trooper", I've been on that one too.
Also Holy Wars and Tornado of Souls by Megadeth. Some other bits here and there,

I hate how good people think Fruciante is...he's not that good for the love of god, especially not 18. But you guys seem to think they left someone out or something (cough) Steve Vai (cough) Satriani (cough) Jason Becker (cough) Paul Gilbert ...hmmm I'm gonna suffocate at this rate.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I agree Johns not that great a guitarist as the others you mentioned technically. But he can pen a good tune and a good solo to boot.
Those guys on your list aren't mainstream enough to be listed by Rolling Stone. All 4 would be in the top 10 otherwise.
-
For The Love Of God.
Vai just slays everyone.
-
It's So Easy. Pretty basic with a fairly easy solo.

Seriously why even bother posting? You could at least give a dignified response as to why you don't like Maiden instead of "tHey Iz CraP!1111111" and sounding like an ass. And "Iron Maiden Freaks"? Why not just say fans
If you genuinely don't like Maiden then that's cool, I can respect that. Don't cupcake and give a 0 which is entirely pointless.
Anyway.
Aces High- 1
2 Minutes to Midnight- 2
Losfer's Word- 8
Flash of the Blade- 3
The Duelists- 5
Back in the Village- 6
Powerslave- 4
Rime of the Ancient Marineer- 7

Did I write: "tHey Iz CraP!1111111"??? I'm pretty sure I didn't. I find Iron Maidens music very boring, Dickinsons voice is dreadful, their lyrics are very poor, their solos are only based on speed, and I just don't like the fact that they have become a major representative for Heavy Metal.
And I don't use the word freak in a negative way, I'm a GN'R-freak myself. A freak is, in my definition, someone even more dedicated than a fan.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well at least you admit you're a freak
I kid, i kid, of course. That's cool. The only reason I done the !!!!!!!1111 is because i always do. Anyway.......
You say Maiden's solos are based on speed and you don't like the fact they represent Metal. Surely the majority of Metal music uses fast solos more than other other type

Had to go with Perseverance.
Like I said in a previous post, Death were amazing musicians, especially Chuck. It's a shame what happened to him, but his vocals at times are just too intolerable. It's a good thing he could solo like a bastard This album has his best vocals I think. It was also the perfect way to end the band.
That Painkiller cover is cool. But the solos aren't as good as the original Priest ones, but still good improvisation in an already great song.
I couldn't understand it though. Chuck said in various interviews he hated DM vocals, but stuck with them because of the way the fans could react. His dream was to play Rock N' Roll with Ronnie James Dio. He was capable ya know.

Nick Menza
Ian Paice
Scott Travis
Nicko from Maiden
Then the obvious ones like Peart and Portnoy.

What alot of people don't know is that Mustaine wrote the solos to Ride the Lightning and Call of the Klutu
In my books, Mustaine is just a better guitarist than Hammett.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yeah. But then again Friedman schools them both.
I don't think Dave did write those solos. He wrote the riffs and the same chords in "Ktulu" and used in the intro to "Hangar 18" ,
-
John Frusciantes awesome.
These lists are all bullshit anyway
-
Megadeth - Tornado Of Souls, Wake Up Dead, Hangar 18, All the mini solos in Peace Sells
Metallica - Fade To Black, Call Of Ktulu, Ride The Lightning, Hit The Lights, One
Ritchie Blackmore - Anything, pure genius. Child In Time probably his best.
Queen - Hammer To Fall eh almost anything May does is gold.
Pink Floyd - Time, Comfortably Numb, Shine On, Money
Ozzy - Crazy Train, Mr Crowley, Goodbye To Romance anything Rhoads. Sheer genius.
Zeppelin - Dazed And Confused, Stairway (Live)
ZZ Top - La Grange, Doubleback
Maiden - 2 Minutes To Midnight, The Trooper
AC/DC - Back In Black, Riff Raff,
Pantera - Floods, I'm Broken
Gary Moore - Parisian Walkways (Live) , Still Got The Blues, Out In The Fields
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey In The Jar
This could go on and on.............
-
Fight Fire With Fire- 7
Ride the Lightning- 1
For Whom the Bell Tolls- 3
Fade to Black- 2
Trapped Under Ice- 6
Escape- 8
Creeping Death- 5
The Call of Ktulu- 4

Metallica. But they're both awesome and write different types of songs.
-
I don't even like the Sex Pistols much and even I think "Never Mind The BOLLOCKS" is awesome.
But you have that already so oh well.........
-
Wow that's gonna cost about £3000 a ticket.
-
Death would easily be one of the greatest metal bands ever if Chuck's singing wasn't so intolerable at times. Amazing instrumental work in that band. Probably the only DM band I can tolerate so I voted for them.

Depends I suppose. Some days I can't be arsed, then when I come back I'm eager to learn more so a wee break never hurt anyone.
When I'm playing it's usually in about 2-3 hours blocks and probably from about 12-3 in the morning is when i play mainly. Sometimes during the day about 4 or 5 ish aswell.
