  1. Urban can burn, but I don't think he added much to this Stones classic. Wouldn't you just assume hear Jagger sing it?

Not really. I like that Urban is singing and playing the leads. I don't really get the "added much" thing....what's a guy supposed to do...make it a whole different song with 4 minutes on a late night show?

I really like Mick and The Stones too though.

  2. Oh, how I have longed for the day a thread with this title would pop up here...that I didn't have to author. ^_^

Up in It is a damn fine late 80s Sub-Pop record and Congregation is where Dulli's persona and the soul influences announce themselves, exemplifying why they didn't fit into the grunge scene.Black Love is my favorite, it's not as straightforwardly vicious and fucked up as Gentlemen, but it's every bit as brutal. 1965 is the most purely seductive record ever made by someone not named Prince. Also seek out the gorgeous Uptown Avondale EP (four highly idiosyncratic covers and a remix of Milez is Ded).

Dulli's current band The Twilight Singers have produced two records which I'd rank above the best Whigs stuff - Powder Burns and Blackberry Belle. He also has a side project with Mark Lanegan, The Gutter Twins. They released Saturnalia in 2008, which was also epically sublime.

If I was looking for a Top 10 Greg Dulli songs list......What would you put on it and why?

  3. No real surprise.

I hope it's not the end of The Killers. I will miss Ronnie most of all.

    Song preview sounds fantastic!

    Sounds good, very addictive song!

The Killers Live at the Royal Albert Hall is one of the best concerts ever caught on film!

  4. A musician shouldn't be your idol or hero. It's just a guy with a good voice who can write music.

He is just a human being, like you or I.

Yes, I would like to meet him.

No, I wouldn't act like a fucking idiot in doing so.

I've just never gotten the whole idol or hero-worshiping of entertainers or athletes.

Maybe they shouldn't be....BUT many people have a few or just one entertainer that really speaks to them.

Which is kinda what the question is playing on in this case. Obviously if you felt that way about someone (for whatever reason) you'd want to meet them....but what if it didn't go well....would that affect the way you enjoy the music in the future?

I think it quite possibly could, which is why it's an interesting question to think about.

  5. The question is would you want to meet Axl Rose?

Obviously most people would initially think this is a no brainer...of course they would.

But remember the old adage of it's never a good idea to meet your idols...because you might be let down.

So would you wanna risk it or just stay at a distance and keep your opinon of him the way it is?

  6. I think Guns N' Roses should just consist of these two:

I don't think I need to explain myself.

IMO...Axl should start working out a little more and call Slash.

On topic; I like the current lineup the best. I like most of the people and it seems like the best band atmosphere in recent memory.

  7. Don't quote me on this, BUT...

Word on the street is that Axl is waiting for a feature film remake of Miami Vice starring Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas before he tours the states.

  8. Guess Slash has the same problem then right?

What do you mean? I have tickets in my hands for Slash's Boston, Mass show this coming September.

    http://www.livenation.com/artist/slash-tickets

ok, so where is the Slash tour? 2 dates? Guns played a tour in US then too right?

Don't get me wrong I like both artists I just thought your typical thing against Axl looked kinda foolish considering Slash only booked 2 dates

You're obviously the one being foolish.

Slash has already stated his tour of the U.S. is this fall. Not to mention that Bonham's point about magnetic fields is in Axl's history not Slash's.

That means nothing. It´s just a poster.

    You're just a poster.

  9. David Lynch movies are horrible imo.

I don't get why people get some kind of esteem boost from feeling "intelligent" for liking something that is meaningless drivel. Whatever works I guess.

    Blue Velvet's a great film.

Haha, that's actually the main movie that inspired my post.

Watched it again last night. Just a pile of shit of a movie imo. I probably wouldn't care if people didn't act like it was great.

  11. Is it me or has his mustache got bigger and more.....ginger :shrugs:

Glad to see him in a good mood, I doubt he is as depressed as some people like to think he is.

  12. 2010...

We are still discussing the name.

    2010...

Axl is still calling this band Guns N Roses even though the most important members of New GNR aren't even in the band anymore.

Pulling a bitch move and calling something with only him GNR is bad enough once, but now it's just comical.
