  1. Slash is the master of hyping up expectations. I'm a bit sad an suprised that it's not going to come out this year. Seemed like a project in between VR's break. But i guess this makes it a more important and a more carefully put together record. His comment about Adam and VR made me almost sure that he (or someone who works for him) checks the boards on a regular basis.

Regarding the Adam comment, most publications (like Rollingstone, etc) were jokingly making that claim as well, so who knows if he reads these boards.

Sucks it's not coming out til next year but I guess he won't be done recording until June and then he's still got mix it and stuff. Seems like he could still get it out this year, but maybe something else has come up that he needs to be involved in after he's done recording. Velvet Revolver singer announcement and recording of new album??

  2. The Hangover is gonna be the comedy of the year!

The screenings of it have supposedly gone amazing, and talks of a sequel are already in the workes before it's released

    Here's the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OligCf4SyYE

    My kind of movie!

Holy shit that looks amazing! I can't wait to see it now!

    Also, on another note...

Star Trek has over 130 votes on Rotten Tomatoes and it's still at a 94%. I'll hopefully go see it this weekend.

Right on man, both movies are gonna be the shit!

A little clip/montage of The Hangover was released today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh-XrDNCrL0

    God it's gonna be great!

  3. Steven Tyler would make a lot of people very happy.

    I hope it happens.

But he is recording a new album with Aerosmith, so Slash's solo album might not be a high priority for him just atm.

Actually Aeromsith is going on tour with ZZ Top before they even finish the album, but either way none of that would stop him from spending a day recording a song with Slash.

  4. Recording a really delicate spanish guitar piece tonight, all night.

Btw, has this info been posted yet? Link Matt confirms that Travis Barker and Jason Bonham will be drumming on the album. So that's Freese, Barker and Bonham confirmed. Chad Smith rumoured.

“He hasn’t asked me. You know, he’s got Jason Bonham playing on it, and Travis Barker, and I think he wants to, kind of, separate himself and do his own thing and that’s cool. I mean when he first did Slash’s Snakepit, I told him years ago that I thought it might be a good idea for him to bring in different singers and do that kind of thing, when we did the first Snakepit album way back when. Now he’s doing it, and I think it’s a good time for him to explore other styles of music because he’s such a great guitar player. He’s lent his guitar playing to so many great artists like everyone from Iggy Pop to Dylan, and he’s played with Michael Jackson. I mean he’s played with everybody. So to ask a favor back for him, it’s a big thing for Slash and I’m really excited for him.”

Had a feeling Barker would be involved. He's a good drummer.

    Very cool.

I love the comments on the blink forum you linked to. Some dude didn't know who Slash was, and everybody else was basically like "How the fuck do you not know who Slash is?" Haha, good stuff.

  5. I'm still not seeing the absolute correlation between "influence" and being one of the biggest bands of all time.

You need to be careful when saying just because a band "influenced" other bands it's like a measure of success. IMO Nirvana (who copied quite a bit from The Pixies and others) had a so called influence because it's so fucking easy to play their stuff. Any dude with a $75 guitar could play Cobain's riffs. Hence it becoming a widely copied style of music for depressed teens.

On the other hand GNR's so called influence on other bands may be less noticeable because it's a lot harder to successfully duplicate or pull off. That's my opinion on the issue.

  6. All I know is, Nirvana shouldn't be ahead of Guns N Roses (original) on any list.

I'm not saying Nirvana wasn't good, but no way do they deserve to be ahead of GNR.

I think Nirvana had more of cultural impact then GNR ever did.

Don't get me wrong, I think GNR where big...........but not Nirvana big.

Can you please describe what exactly this "cultural impact" was? And how exactly that would make them bigger than Guns N Roses were?

Nirvana pretty much invented the word "Alternative"......good or bad.

If you look up Alternative in the dictionary, you'll see Nirvana.

Guns didn't have that kind of impact.

Can you please describe what exactly this "cultural impact" was? And how exactly that would make them bigger than Guns N Roses were?

Cobain made a bunch of 15-year-olds cry when he killed himself. I guess that's what they're trying to pass off as cultural impact these days.

No, opening the doors for alternative music and thus influencing a lot of the major rock bands today is what they pass of as a cultural impact these days. ;)

Alternative music was already popular or on its way to being. So strike that. They influenced a really shitty period in popular rock, so strike against them for that too.

    Got anything else?

    Not it wasn't.

Alternative = Feeling sorry for your self music, was not popular until Nirvana.

Do you have any f'ing clue what you're talking about?

REM (just to name one alternative band) had been around quite some time while being popular before Nirvana. Their very successful album OUT OF TIME came out in March 1991, a full 6 months before Nevermind.

Nirvana didn't invent "alternative" or alone popularize it, although they were the one who came along later and got a lot of publicity for it.

@Lithium - Having an influence isn't necessarily a good thing because in many peoples' minds Nirvana's popularity ushered in a shitty period in music. Hence it being a negative influence. Either way though, just because a band had an influence doesn't make them "Bigger" than GNR (the thread theme). I mean fuck, The Ramones, were influential but nobody sane would claim they were one of the "biggest" bands.

  9. ReWatched:

The Fugitive Kind - Marlon Brando, Joanne Woodward, Dir Sidney Lumet

    After Hours - Marty Scorsese

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore - Marty Scorsese

    Boxcar Bertha - Marty Scorcese

    Newly Watched:

Bringing Out The Dead - Marty Scorcese

Gangs Of New York - Marty Scorsese

    Nice!

Keitel is one the most underrated actors working today.

Did you see him on that Life On Mars show?

I liked him and that guy from The Sopranos on that show.

  10. Star Trek has a 100% so far on Rotten Tomatoes out of 22 votes and an 8.2 on IMDB with over 1,000 votes.

    Looking pretty good.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. Apparently the screenings went really well.

  11. Seems like a homosexual

OH NOES HE PUTS IT IN A DIFFERENT HOLE THAN ME :o

Well it'd actually be a different gender, not just hole, but the comment was just a joke.

I like some of his stuff.

  12. Is it just live performances?

Or does it have cool backstage/interview stuff?

They show some backstage stuff before every band hits the stage (It's 2 dvds, Motley's performance on 1 and everthing else on the other).

I think there's a documentary type thing on the 2nd disc as well, but I haven't watched it yet.

The main thing I remember is Motley commenting a few times how they weren't selling any alchohol to the concertgoers at the concert, which I thought was pretty fucked up. Blame Canada(it was shot in Toronto)

  13. Do not go on Amercian Idol!!!!!!

I could see why you would say that, but he's got a solo album coming and he'd be on TV in front of 20 Million plus people so I could see why he'd do it.

I thought you don't like the notion of him alienating half of his fan base?

Promoting yourself in front of over 20 million people is the exact opposite of that smart guy.

I'd say 97% of your fanbase would like to see you do well and be on the biggest show on television doing your thing. Hence them being fans.

Would that be the same 97% that doesn't have a problem with him discussing his approval of Obama?

Why do you even come in here? Go back to the rap is toxic thread.
