  1. The booing- it seemed more of a pantomine boo to me-like they were doing it for entertainment. Just the 1 loud boo at about 10'ish.TBH i didn't notice what time Axl came on or went off stage-I was enjoying myself to much!

Some people left for transport-but in an arena full of people it went unoticed -wasn't LOADS thats for sure!

As far as i'm concerned it was the night of

my life-Axl was in good spirits-vocally strong & the whole band have a great connection to the crowd.

1 of my pics-many didn't come out so good this is a better 1.

  2. I have all the respect one could have for both new GNR and cover bands, but I think this was just a bad bad idea on BBF and Frank. As if there aren't enough "over glorified cover band" jokes floating around about the current GNR, this will not only spark more of them, but partly validates them.

Ahem!! Bull!!A BAD idea!?! BBF & Frank did something good-I don't think they care in the slightest about the prospect of a handful of morons on a forum -yet again turning it into some kind of bitch fest & joke oppourtunity over the new line up compared to taking time out teaching some kids & making them feel good!!

-----@bumblefoot-Just spent a great day with Frank teaching and jamming with the young students at the Witchwood School Of Rock in Witney UK. Great kids! about 14 hours ago

Maybe a better idea would have been that BBF & Frank jacked up on some smack-got totally fucked & shagged a couple of groupies in the Tower of London?

  3. Hopefully this might be of some use for anyone going to Manc who's going from out of town. Stayed in their places a couple of times and they're fine despite the constant threat of Lenny Henry showing up.

Definatly-I've stayed in the premier inns a few times for gigs-last weekend at Wembley stadium- they're always close to the venues or transport-all simillar standard-not overpriced and a nice all you can eat brekkie in the morning  shit-they should have me in the next tv advert!!

  4. well i hope nothing goes wrong-I've waited a long time for this-but I'm not worried. No point in worrying over things out of your control. :shrugs:

These venues are pretty tight security wise- if trouble happens it will be dealt with. The best bet is to make sure that you have alternative travel arrangments etc-relying on catching a last train to get home is not the safest bet. I've made sure myself & my partner in crime have the day off work after the show-we're driving to the gig-so if Axls late on or whatever -it doesn't matter how late we arrive home- we'll get a lie in in the morning :)

i'm expecting a later than an average start time- thats the way it goes.I hope there are no wankers in the crowd trying to ruin it or show up the rest of the uk fans though. I'm sure either way we'll have a good show.

its just a shame that public transport in the UK is so shite. londons pretty good-but everywhere else seems to grind to a halt by 11pm :(

Drive to Manchester and stay the night. That's my plan of action.

    Safest bet!

  5. Yes-Hulabaloo was my favourite era too  - i love that DVD and the music was so original back then. I get what you mean about the commercial thing but unfortunatly thats what can come from huge chart success. That along with the whole Twighlight soundtrack thing has made Muse more accessable and the fan base gets younger year after year.

I don't think their music is getting weaker in any way-they still take risks and do their own thing regardless. it would be nice for them to pare it down occasionally as they are so capable of doing simplicity on stage -one of the most powerful performances i have ever seen was this 1- Showbiz-live in Paris-just a small stage and crowd.

I'm wondering if they will shake up their setlist for wembley this year?

  6. Muse put on a hell of a show when I saw them. Even The Resistance sounded awesome when it was live.

Knights Of Cydonia with 45,000 people singing the chorus-fuck yeah.

I might see U2 in November, I don't like their music but apparently the show is a must see.

Knights of Cydonia is always my high point-i never get tierd of shouting the chorus at the end! first time i saw that song performed live-Muse had me in the palm of their hands! -I'll never forget it!!

U2-can't fucking stand them-but I know their shows have a good rep-I'd go if i was given a free ticket!

  7. Its true-all publicity is good publicity. The fuck up at Dublin will only remind the world what a genuine rock star Axl Rose was and still is :shades:

I don't know about being up Axls ass -but I'd be quite happy to give it a squeeze(just a small 1)

  8. How can muse be good live if their music is complete trash?

Thats your personal view based on your musical taste not an actual true statement is it? Not everyone has the same musical tastes and wether you like the music or not-they ARE 1 of the worlds biggest live acts at the moment.

  9. Muse seem to have a real grandeur live- their light show and stage sets are much more imaginative and pioneering than GnRs-who take a more straight forward approach to their stage show with the pyro and screen shows.

Give Muse their due- they are the only band to have sold out the New wembley Stadium 4 times if you include the 2 Haarp gigs and this years 2 shows

I'm huge fans of both bands.

If i had to choose a band a would choose Guns n roses hands down as i grew up with them but as for choosing a live stage show-that would be harder.

I see Muse @ Wembley stadium next week and then Gnr 4 weeks later-it's 1 hell of a start to the autumn comparing the 2!!

  10. You correct there man. But unfortunately you were at the show where Axl decides to fuck everyone over with his behaviour turning thousands of fans against him instantly instead of wowing them with a killer show. You do realise that the chances of another GNR show in Ireland are now practically zero. MCD won't touch them with a bargepole after this.

    their loss

  11. The blame doesn't rest soley at the press' feet of course-however i have had people actually say to me - "I hear Axl was being a wanker again last night" they believe everything they read and don't even actually bother to watch videos of the gig and form their own opinions.THATS the problem.

The press focus on anything that makes a story more interesting-and that is unfortunatly the negative. Some well balanced reviews wouldn't go amiss- good and bad points-but thats not how they work.!

the only way to look at it is this-any publicity is good publicity.good or bad the band are back in the public eye-in the papers- on the radio. Axls late on stage(heard it before),crowd boos and calls Axl a wanker(old news) his voice sounded awful(heard that before) he's up his own arse(another oldie) . At the end of the day-the tour has practically sold out-the band are being talked about again.

  12. Can someone who went to the show, or has tickets to an upcoming one verify what time is actually printed on the tickets?

That would not be possible givin the fact that 99% of shows never print the headlining bands time on the ticket, therefore how can they ever be late?

The problem is that people look at their ticket and see let's say 8 o'clock on there. They get there at 8. Whether Axl is "late" or not, people are pissed if they have been sitting there for 2 and a half hours without having seen GNR yet.

Maybe it's time to start printing the headlining time on there, because whatever they are doing is not working as everyone outside of a few message board warriors seems to be totally unaware of what time the band is actually going on at these shows which is in part causing the hostile audiences.

All tickets are like this. Not just GN'R. Printing this would likely mean the ticketing company needs to implement it. They wouldn't for just one band. A few places do it, but most won't. It means more work for them - getting the schedule from the band and verifying it. I know that seems trivial but rest assured, people are LAZY.

Yeah, that's true. I've seen Queensryche, Slash, Iron Maiden and Aerosmith in the last few months and I didn't see on those tickets, nor do I recall seeing on tickets in the past what the specific start times were for opening and headlining acts.

Naupis, can you name a show for which you've seen start times for both the opening and headlining acts printed on the ticket?

    Ali

GNR is the only show in my life, and I have been to alot of them, that the headling act wasn't on stage within an hour and a half (max) of the start time listed on the ticket.

I just looked at my old 06 GNR tour stubs I saved, and they have 7:30 down on the ticket. Even if people show up at like 8, they are still in their seats for usually at least 2 and a half hours which is why the crowds get hostile.

Most bands that list 7:30 on the ticket have an opener that plays for 40 minutes, and they are on stage by 9 at the latest as the stage is usually set up for the main act ahead of time to minimize the change over.

You must not have been to many shows. I go to shows all the time--the openers often time go on late. Last year I saw Metallica, and they started about 45 minutes after the opening act, and started around 10:30. Just saw Tool, and they started a good hour after the opening act around 9:45--no big deal. The thing is, those bands don't have 100's of articles making them out to be Public Enemy #1 leading up to the show. GN'R does, and you get a bunch of drunks who think they need to take matters into their own hands, or feel empowered to see what kind of riot they can start. The press has been drumming shit up all week leading up to this, and these drunks were emboldened by them.

theres truth in what you say-after listenning to that irish radio last night you could hear it was getting more and more sensationalist. Same for me-i've been to gigs-45mins late starts-it happens all the time but with no publicity! This band are ripped apart by the press!
