  1. Ok, I need to clear something up here.

I keep reading various theories about other reasons for Steven's firing.

Yes yes, we know- he was kicking heroin while trying to play civil war and couldn't hack it during the recording. But given the level of abuse by other members, I think there was a double standard applied if we believe the official story.

However, with regard to the Farm Aid gig, I think his performance has been wrongfully maligned. I hate how Duff and Slash get free passes for sloppy playing, but you will be hard pressed to find a show of Steve really screwing up bad.

    Anyway, what IS the story?

He gave Axl's girl a speedball? Did he sleep with her?

I've heard various accounts, some including he sheltered Erin when she was going through a tough time.

I just want to know the *truth.* And yes yes, I know Steve can be a lot to handle, but some of his behavior is par for the course in rock n roll. And his peers in GNR certainly did their fair share of drug usage and sloppy playing during the live shows.

So, if you do not accept the premise that it was Steve's involvement with Erin Everly that caused his departure, would you agree it contributed, along with his drug-influenced behavior?

  2. I ask thee, is Guns n Roses the modern day Deep Purple?

Think symbolically now. Or metaphorically, whatever.

Does the spirit or concept of Guns n Roses transcend any one band member?

Is Guns n Roses a collection of gypsies?

Is Axl like Chuck Berry in some ways?

    What does the future hold?

  3. Jr.'s dreaming.

The start to his is career is liken to GNR's?

Haha, when did Jr's career start?

His career is more like clear pepsi or something.

Heheh...heh...yes if we're going to get technical with the metaphor, let's clean up one of the more glaring errors of the analogies.

Dale Earnhardt Junior won two consecutive Nationwide Series1 championships in 98 and 99, in his 3nd and 4th years racing professionally . The Nationwide Series is NASCAR's second tier series. It's the minor leagues. For the purpose of the symbolism, it's like... it's like... L.A. Haha. When Guns n Roses hit the scene, it ascended to the very tippy top of the pantheon of rock n roll at the time. And I do mean the very top. That would be more akin to winning a couple Nationwide championships, AND ALSO 2 or 3 NASCAR Sprint championships2, which is by the way, suffice to say, the highest tier of oval racing.

So, in summary, Dale Earnhardt Jr never won any championships at the highest level when he was young. Guns n Roses did. If you can dig the symbolism.

    1: Formerly entitled Busch series

2: Formerly entitled Nextel Cup and prior to that Winston Cup

  4. NASCAR GNR DALE JR CONNECTION

At the end of the 3rd paragraph is the reference.

It says: "If Dale Earnhardt Jr. were a rock band, he'd be Guns n' Roses - a Hall of Fame-level start to his career followed by a steep decline toward irrelevance."

Usually this guy is a good writer, he writes about golf and other stuff too. But in this case I just think the metaphor (analogy?) is just wrong on many different levels. And as a GNR fan it kinda irked me, because its premise is wrong.

  5. So clearly given all the context (this website and discussions that often take place on it, for starters), there's an implication here regarding Slash?

Didn't Slash already try and go to court?

Oh whoops, he signed the name over to Axl. Fail.

What are the specifics on how Iommi assumed control of the name back in the day?
