  1. I listen to two albums almost every day. They are AFD and a rip of this DJ(?) from South Africa named Black Coffee who is amazing. He came out with an album three or four years ago and it's sick. I also got a CD of similiar music named SOUL CANDI. I can not seem to find any information about them online, and I do not think they tour often, if at all. Is anybody else into South African house music or kwaito?

Kwaito is the shit! I swear, it makes me have a flashback everytime of balmy weather, cheap beer, and the smell of sulfur dioxide in the air :-)

  2. Has anybody picked up Marilyn Manson's new album? Is it any good? I ordered mine, so it should be arriving tomorrow or so. I'm curious to see which direction he takes the music in now.

  3. I love Bowie as I was raised on his music, but I am embarrassed that I have to agree with you on anything.

So we're both Bowie fans...I guess that makes us bros now!

  4. SOmehow I never heard of David Bowie until about 3 or 4 months ago (I'm 27). How did I miss this guy? He's awesome! I love all his stuff. When's the next album and tour coming? Jeez...I have "Ashes to Ashes" running through my head all day. China girl is the hot shit too! Bowie is my favorite artist, hands down

  5. Bach had a lot to say about CD over the past few years. "Appetite for Destruction on Steroids" comes to mind, along with some other clues about the album. Now that CD is out...where's Sebastian now? He got real tight lipped all of a sudden, didn't he?

  6. To Buckethead's credit, I don't think that he's traveling with a band at all. I saw him during this current tour and his music was coming from his IPOD. He had 2 roadies that were wearing masks and were in character the entire night. Did he come to NYC with That 1 Guy??

There was a big fat white guy with him and some guy who read some poem. I think they were just roadie slaves.

  7. I saw him with Pinchface and a few dudes in previous shows. He just fucked around on his gizmos last night and played sporadically when his equipment and acoustics were right. His roadies were pissed and you could tell, even behind the mask, that BH was pretty pissed too.

I don't think he has a band, he just comes out and plugs his iPod in and jams along to it normally.

At least I read that's what he's been doing recently anyway...

  8. Well, having equipment lets him not bring the band along...that's two other guys to split the paycheck with. With 1000+ people in attendance at $30 a pop plus merchandise...Buckethead left with $10,000-$20,000 I estimate after this one show, after paying BB King, his incompetent roadies, and whoever else he would owe to to play at House of Blues. I really like Buckethead, but this was a show where he obviously cut corners and left the fans unhappy. People were chanting SUCK-IT-HEAD when he drew the lights and left. Oh well...everybody has a bad show. Hope the next one is like the first three I've seen (amazing!)

  9. just got back from Buckethead show @ House of Blues on 42nd street @ NYC. Buckethead was late, showed up without his band. He compensated with some pre-recorded drums and sounds instead of having a real band. He was alone on stage the entire time. He played three songs before his equipment failed. His incompetent roadies tries to fix his shit. They couldn't, so he just stalled for time by dancing and giving out treats for about fifteen minutes. The roadies got his stuff together for a few more minutes...he played another two songs, then his equipment gave out again. Then he just walked off stage. He probably played for a total of 30-45 minutes TOPS. No real "solo", no Big Sur Moon, nothing really new. I've seen Buckethead four times, and this was the worst show I've seen. People were pissed. People were chanting SUCK-IT-HEAD and lingering in case he would return. He didn't. Probably the worst show I ever saw. Really makeshift shit. I brought my girlfriend to the show to show her what a great artist BH really was, but she was disappointed. I was embarrassed for hyping it up for many months, only to have a total letdown.I tried to explain that "his other shows were better than this..." but she would have none of it. We ended up at Havana, a Cuban bar/restaurant and the band there was 10X better than Buckethead. It was a Cuban band with horns, singers, and all kinds of dance moves. We ended up having a great night, but Buckethead really didn't put shit into this performance. I give it a D-. I'm a BH fan, but shit show was absolute shit. I want my money back.

  10. Doors open at 7:00PM...any clue what time Yngwie will hit the stage? Probably 9:00 PM, I'd think? There's an opening band before Yngwie that I could care less for (I have other things to do) but I'm definitely going by to see Y.J.M.

  11. Tonight Yngwie is at Blender Theater! I'm going. Is anybody else going? Tickets were only $25 a pop! Sweet deal.

If you rub Yngwie's belly, you get good luck for 7 years. Old Gypsy tale.

  12. Hey folks. I recently acquired an old Dell + put 4gig (the max) ram into it and got a new video card. This baby is a HOSS now. I just got a subscription to World of Warcraft. It honestly bores the hell out of me. I can't enjoy a game I have to study for. I'm currently searching for the newst, most popular online shooter now. I played the hell out of Soldier of Fortune II a few years ago and half-life. What's the new first-person shooter for '08? Also, where is the best place to order this game from? I'd appreciate any help. I wanna get to blastin on my upgraded PC pronto!

    thanks.

  13. OSX is unstable and most browsers run like crap on Apple computers. Videocard upgrades are a bitch and they are, for obvious reasons, all about ITUNES, which I could care less for. One button mouse is just laughable. No right button. No scrollwheel. It's as if they are trying to be like PCs, but just do a bad impersonation of them. They're simply not for me. There's no reasons to get into damaging person attacks over a box full of microchips. To each their own. Just because you are up past your bedtime doesn't give you the right to act like an internet "bad boy" to total strangers.

And for Highvoltage, Sandman, + Jack the Ripper: An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the man", "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim. The process of proving or disproving the claim is thereby subverted, and the argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.

    X3 Failure. checkmate.

  14. So I'm in my school library and I noticed that all the PCs were swapped out for the new fancy smancy Apple computers. Apple computers are great for video editing and photo editing...that's about it. Their interface is utter crap; it was crap in the 1980s and it's still crap today. They have barely changed their OS in years. Any mouse with one button is just WRONG. Apple has brainwashed a whole generation of kids who think, "Gee...I like IPOD, so Apple computers must be awesome too!". Wrong. IPOD is cool, I'll give them that...but Apple computers are still the overpriced, limited garbage they were 20 years ago. PCs with Windows (and Linux to some extent) have come to be the definition of computers. My entire generation (born in 1981) was raised on PCs. PCs are affordable, versitile, and any relevant software is made for PC. I just don't get the new Apple fad. Those goddamn things suck! Is anybody out there feelin me on this one?

  15. Once Michael Jackson's career started to unravel, he could have easily made the transition to R&B and owned the genre for as longas he wanted. Once the molestation charges hit, he was destroyed. Could you imagine though..R Kelly + Michael Jackson duets? Jackson could have hired the best DJs and beatmakers and made legendary hits.

Is it true he's coming out with a new album. Youtube MJs old dance moves videos. Look up Billy Jean LIVE performance from the music video awards, with the first moonwalk...legendary stuff!!

  16. Big L was wicked. Too bad he wasn't very prolific.

the greatest rapper, or MC i should say, in both a technical and rhythmic sense is Notorious BIG followed closely by Eminem. Big L is up there, as is Slick Rick, Jay Z (not especially fond of him but he deserves the respect he gets purely for that Biggiesque sense of rhythm he has where its...flow in the purest sense of the word, not like y'know, rhyming the words at the end of each line and thats it, its like...interlocking rhymes with a distinct rhythm which he can both stick to and weave in and out of...Biggie was a master at this...Eminem too although he can be a little disjointed at times.

a good current rapper to check out is a fella named Papoose. Immortal Technique is boring, the college boys favorite rapper.

The first name that came to my mind when I read "greatest rapper" was Slick Rick as well. Lodi dodi indeed!

  17. I love Lil' Wayne. I'm almost definite he has a ghost writer for everything he does, but he can spit rhymes like no other. His music really hypes me up!

GO DJ! was his best song IMO. I own Baller Blockin DVD. He makes a horrible actor. Always glancing at the camera....

Cash Money was the hottest group. Too bad they couldn't stay togehter. Seems to happen with most good groups...
