  1. Ok, I've heard Slash do November Rain, and then Finck and BH do their version in the context of the song. My challenge:

make up your own version of the solos...stay in the context of the song, but don't be afriad to throw in your own twist. I'm curious to know how yours turns out. I'm out training now for this.

  2. I'm in the exact same spot as you. I can play the first 10 seconds of every song, and tear up the pentatonics like a champ

hey, i started playing in feb and i at the begining i thought i was progressing really fast but now it seems things have slowed down and i dont feel like im improving. so could some of you guys tell me things i could practise or learn.

    im pretty good on :-

    - Power Chords and Normal Chords

    - Barre Chords (but i need to practise thoes abit more)

    - Penatonic scales

    - Ive learnd parts of many songs altho i cant really play a full song yet

Also if there are any pro guitarist out there, could you tell me if you think im doing good for how long ive had it, because i really wanna be a good guitarist and join a band and just be able to play what i feel like coz like alot of people on here its my dream.

    Thanx:)

  3. Modes?!?What's a mode? I'm garage training right now[aka no teacher, just me, some internet tab sites and this forum ]

What scale should I learn next? What do you reccommend [ after pentatonics]

Now that you've learned your pentatonics, learn the other modes and scales, and how each of them tie into one another.

The pentatonics are the most basic of all scales. They're like the "building blocks" of music. For soloing, you can use the pentatonics to switch between modes and scales without hitting a sour note.

  4. Does anybody know any GNR solos that are pentatonic-scale based for the guitar? I learned my scales forward and backward, but not sure where to go from there. I hear like 80%of rock solos are pentatonics. Any suggestions?

This can be from any gnr era...slash..buckethead...whatever. I just need to jam out w/ my new mutant power

    oooooo rah

  5. Fine. EVEN if you were blind, you can tell the difference, hair or no hair.

Even Newstead made a difference on JUSTICE, but they all just started to sound like all the other bands a few years ago. Just listen to KILL M ALL

image or no image, Metallica went downhill musically. They are probably technically better, as musicians can only improve, but their recordings are lackluster

  6. I was just listening to Master of Puppets the other day, after listening to RIDE THE LIGHTNING, and just thought to myself: What happened to Metallica? AT what point did they become weak? Shit..they ran $75 a TICKET on my birthday 2 years ago...touring with Linkin Park . WTF is that about?

I remember they cut their hair about a decade ago...and then had LOAD and RELOAD which were decent, but not up to par with METALLICA that I grew up with. Your thoughts on this group?

Oh yea...Jason Newsted...who the hell does he think he is, QUITTING Metallica? Is there not higher honor than being a bassist for that band? [beside being in Ozzy's band?]

  7. Hey...I finally learned BIG SUR MOON by Buckethead. It's a killer solo that's not too difficult to learn

Does anybody have any suggestions of killer solos that aren't impossible?

As far as I know, most GNR solos are really hard, unless there are some I missed somewhere

I sheepishly admit, I'm trying to learn cool solos to show off. Big Sur Moon got a lot of "dammmmns!!"" and "that's so cool!!!" so i want to continue this. Any ideas?

  8. I guess I live in a black hole, but I just discovered the 80s rock band SKID ROW. They sound really damn good! What are your thoughts on Skid Row..educate me on this phenom I missed out on. Thanks!!
