  1. The parts concerning GNR have been posted by jarmo:

Tommy Stinson: Replacements run was 'special' but it's time to move on

The Replacements and GNR bassist is ready to leave his old band (or bands?) behind for a new solo venture.

    By Chris Riemenschneider Star Tribune

    September 2, 2015 11:41am

Since hes more interested in talking about his new band coming to the Turf Club next Saturday, Tommy Stinson offered these short answers to the two most-heard questions about the old bands he is probably leaving behind:

    1) Ask Axl.

    2) Ask Pauls T-shirts.

At this point, they probably have their own [publicists], the veteran bassist joked of his Replacements bandmate Paul Westerbergs letter-encoded white Ts.

Decoding Axl Rose is a whole other matter.

Now 48, Tommy has been playing bass with Rose in Guns N Roses since 1998. However, even before rumors started flying a few weeks ago about the late-80s lineup of GNR getting back together, he said his status in the group was up in the air. His last GNR gig was April 2014 in Las Vegas.

I reach out once in a while to that crew of people a lot of whom are also my good friends but I really have no idea whats going on, he said, clarifying at least this much: I didnt quit the gig or walk away from it. We just all sort of left it in Vegas.

A postscript, if needed, on his stint in Guns N Roses: Ill be honest with you: [Axl Rose] was always very good to me, and it was always a really good gig. It wasnt necessarily the easiest gig, but it was always good. I have nothing but gratitude for it. If they got [the modern lineup] together again and wanted me to play, of course Id have to think about it.

  2. CD2 is something too old, not marketable, completely old-fashioned. It was recorded more than 15 years ago ! People who are waiting for it are delusional.

CD2 could only be released successfully if Slash plays on it. But that's not what nugnr fans want, right ? They want Buckethead and Finck on the record. It'll bomb. Even with Slash on it, it can bomb.

  3. That article is written in Spanish, not Portuguese. The English translation isn't very good. The GNR statement (if it exists...) is not categorical about the possibility of a reunion. The article doesn't quote anybody in particular, it just says that GNR released a statement.

I'd like to know where is the statement released by GNR ?

  4. One of my favourite moments is when he decides to have this ultra deep psychotherapy rant about his family not liking him making their issues public and the crowd were all cheering when he started and he told the whole paying crowd to shut the fuck up so he could tell them something extremely deep and awkward whether they wanted to hear it or not, it's equal parts batshit and admirable but that's Axl.

Yup, that was in Chicago, UYI tour. Great show.
  5. If Axl really cares about CD2 (not sure about that), he can release it after the reunion.

I don't think that's realistic at all. I think Axl's first priority is still CD ll's release.

I think you're the one who's unrealistic...

I mean, if Axl was interested in CD2, wouldn't he have played at least one song during the last tour to start promoting it and testing the waters to see if people liked the new song? He didn't. He mostly played AFD songs. That's a strange way to be interested in releasing CD2.

    Wait. What?

I saw Foo Fighters last Monday and they didn't play anything off their next record either. Does that mean they're not interested in making one?

I don't know about the Foo Fighters, but GNR and Axl used to play new songs before they get released (it happened with UYI, and with CD). He likes to test the crowd's reaction.

If they did bury the hatchet and Reunion is in the works then the most obvious thing is that Axl will want to release CD 2 with Slash. He will want Slash to work on It, add some other songs by Slash Or whoever else and make it a proper gnr album. Axl mind you doesnt divide gnr into old and New, to him gnr is gnr... Sorry for idiotic Capital letters, my Phone is an idiot.

    Good point ;)

  7. Would this thread still be open if it was a false reunion rumor? I don't think so...

A reunion can still happen say...5 years from now, no? my guess is if Axl and Slash had buried the hatchet, it will still be a process. On Axl time, and that if it ever even happens, if all the stars align.

The sooner, the better. If they wait too much, it'll be too late as Axl will be almost 60 if they wait 5 more years. If they want the reunion to be really successful, it has to happen in 2016 or 2017.
