  1. I think Axl and GNR deserve better than this.

Someone's dropping the ball yet again. How the hell do they expect GNR to sell any tickets for any US shows without so much as a mention of the release of chinese democracy followed up by maybe a video, a new single and possibly Axl doing some interviews?

The person dropping the ball is Axl. There is nothing stopping him from promoting his album even if the record company could care less. Waiting around for the record company to play wet nurse and do everything for you is just lazyness.

Look at Slash, he has no record deal or label bank rolling him (he financed the album himself), and look at all the promotional stuff he lined up for himself (the Classic Rock magazine issue, the record with Slash/Mike Clink contest) as well as doing little things like the promo video he just put out and a bunch of other stuff. None of it is rocket science, but it requires some effort and a little hustle.

Instead of making it happen even in the face of an unsupportive record company, he instead threw up his hands, and took his ball and went home.

That's certainly his prerogative to do so, but no one should be painting him out as a victim that the label didn't go above and beyond for him when there was plenty he could have done on his own to have saved that album.

I agree with you. But I don't think it was just Axl's fault the album bombed. It probably was also high expectation from fans and music critics, some people that just can't move on, and many people just didn't give it a chance. Also the 6 year old leaks didn't do any good as many people hear the demo's 10 or 20 times and didn't like them or the finished product. What really was Axl to do, a press release, a tour. Maybe some interveiws but thats really the best he could have done. He was on here chatting with use like a week or two after the release and he had that interveiw with Del James. It's obvoius he didn't like the way it all went down and their might have been some things behind the scenes we didn't know about. It was partly Axl's fault, but not in a whole. A video would have helped it get bigger, but maybe have a few more sales if they hear Better 4 times in a row. At least the album came out and were not still waiting for it.

Also , Slash may have financed the album himself, but he has some major well-known artists from today on it. Axl was trying to reinvent something the was huge in the 80's and early 90's. It's not that easy for Axl. Slash's album, which I'm definatly buying, it probably going to have many guitar-driven, riffy songs on it, which isn't bad. But it isn't like he's trying to change his sound and bring the best he can to reivent himself and the GN'R name. There was more weight on Axl's shoulders for Chinese Democracy as there is for Slash's album.

  2. Finishing up? Doubt it.

    Working on it? Possibly.

He has many songs to release. He said back in '06 in the Eddie Trunk interveiw that he has two albums worth of material done and was working on a track for the THIRD album. I think, if anything, thay may be just re-recording Robins or Buckets parts with DJ Ashba, but I don't think their finishing it. I just hope they release it before the end of 2010 or before the U.S tour, to make people want to see the band, because we know U.S. doesn't appreciate Axl or his band, they only care about Slash and the old GN'R. I don't want to wait until 2014 for a new album, doubt that'll happen though. As strong and tight as the band is right now, I don't see why they cant be working on it. They have the songs written already, now It just a matter of time now. It would be cool if they played one of the new songs at a concert, would love to hear The General or Atlas Shrugged. I think he will want to keep it under rap for a while to aviod the leaks.

  3. First video: Better (with live footage)

Second video: There was a time (epic video like november rain)

Third video: This i Love (simple video, with axl on the piano and a short story to complement the video, like don't cry)

Fourth video: Shacklers revenge (something explosive, with controversial footage and images, like the live era Welcome to the Jungle, NO footage from the band or axl)

 Those are get ideas for videos, This I Love would be cool and Shaclers would be great if they made them like that. I wonder why they never released a video for C.D. There would be some bad ass videos for some songs. There a many good songs, so videos should be that hard to think of. There Was A Time epic version would be great.

  4. Probably the best hard rock band to come out of the 80's. they brought back the edgy, guitar-driven rock and rock back, reminese of early Aerosmith, AC/DC and the Rolling Stones. They also had the sound of Queen and The Beatles in their songs as well. Appetite For Destruction is the best selling debut album EVER, selling 28 million worldwide and counting. They wen't to being underground rockers to being kings in less than a year. After Sweet Child came out they became HUGE. They were selling out everywhere, making epic videos and doing the longest tour in rock history. In my opinion, if they all stayed together they could have been a big as the Rolling Stones. They obviously would perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Are they the best band ever, no. That slot goes to The Beatles. Are they good, yes. Influential, kinda. Well known, hell yeah!

They made their mark in rock history. Welcome to the Jungle, Paradice City and Sweet Child O' Mine and many other's will be heard in sports arena's for many years to come, if they didn't have such huge differences and fights they would be big right know. The next stop for them is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  5. The monkey is off his back with Chinese Democracy being released. He also know has bandmates he can trust and won't try to take over the band. I am happy that Axl is seemingly having fun of stage. He also is more interactive with the fans with twitter, which he updates everyday or two. The tour started out with a bang with Axl Rose punching a paparazzi person and then the great Taipai concert, which everyone loved.

It's col that his voice is back in top shape and the band is really tight and has fun on stage, their a rock band again. Not the 2000-2001 GN'R with the guy with the bucket and mask and the zombie looking Finck.

To um this up, Axl Rose is BACK! All the haters can fuck off!

  6. This is a good thing. Doc has managed some good bands like KISS, Motley Crue, Skid Row, the Scorpions, and Bon Jovi. As far a as I think, this was a good move on the part of GN'R. Doc is a longtime manager, so he knows whats he's doing and how to do it. Hopefully with Doc they get bigger like before and release a new album during this year. For some reason after reading about Doc McGee becoming their manager, Axl tweeting about the current news and stuff and watching Knockin' on Heavens Door from the Rose Bar, I have a good feeling this band can go to new heights and be a household name again. But they'll have to get through the Slash lovers, Axl haters, reunion wanters, winers, the people who complain the Chineses Democracy isn't Guns N' Roses and the people who think this band isn't Gun N' Roses. That'll be a hard task, some people are just so stuck up and in the past, they can't admit this band is Gun N' Roses or forgive Axl for something he did 15 years ago.

  7. for that matter what makes some internet fan more hardcore than whoever else anyway, oh that's rt...nothing!! Some just like 2 bitch 2 bitch. So if ur complainin' n' u drink beer, today I recommend a Lucky or perhaps a Red Stripe...if ur still peeved...again, fuck off.

There you got you wining idiots. Hope you people learned your lesson. Just because your on here everyday posting stuff about your favorite band doesn't make you more hardcore than anybody else. I think the surprise gigs were awesome, but some of you bitches have to wine and complain about how its stupid, its not for hardcore fans, fuck off! It Guns N' Roses playing for you pleasue, if your not pleased with the videos and pics, well just shut up. A true Guns N Roses fan will be happy that their playing and Axl is having fun and they sound great. Some people just digust me.

And Rolling Stone can shut up about the half empty bar. TMZ can shut up about Axl sweating, come on, a person sweating, oh yeah, It's Axl Roses, newsflash TMZ, people sweat, definatly around hot lights and in a tight place with heat. and alot of people.

  8. I love that Axl is using this Twitter as a way to communitcate with the fans. It's really cool. It's cool to see he's up to date with at the issues going on and what people are saying about him. And know he retaliated and told people the truth about many things. I mean really, to write a article about a frontman sweating is completely dumb but they have to take a stab at Axl one way or another, I mean people sweat. And Axl commented on the babys who say the surprise gigs are unfair to the hardcore fans, there you go you winers, what makes you people more hardcore than anyone else, NOTHING!

I mean this is probably the most close he's been to the fans since the chats he had with the forums, which he should do again when he has time off. Which it doesnt seem he has any, because he's on fire right know. He is sounding great, I mean early 90's great.

Hopefully Double Talkin Jive could mean some thing to come, like maybe more Illusions songs in the concerts, just have to wait and see.

  9. Axl is on top of his game. He sounds the best he's ever sounded, in my opinion, and he looks awesome. I just hope they keep this momentum going. I hope this is "it". We don't need any more breaks or disappearances. We need tours, and then hopefully another album sometimes in the near future. If GNR rebuilds itself in this way, and actually embraces the media and takes advantages of the opportunities, they'll be absolutely huge. Almost all the dots have connected.

I agree with you, except I don't think Axl will embrace the media, he hates the media and they hate him back. What they have to do though is get people to know how great their doing right now. They should do some surprise gigs in L.A. for more than 100 people, maybe in some clubs in bars for fans, just to get people talking again. Maybe a impromtu Award show appearance, or Late Night show appearance, I'm betting Jimmy Fallon would love to have Guns perform on his show.

I am so happy that Axl is sounding great again. Watching the Knockin' on Heaven Door video made me so pumped that GN'R is back and I really hope to see them live in the future. Axl isn't disappearing anytime soon as far as Im concerned, he seems happy and he's having fun on stage. I just hope they take this GN'R to the highs of the old one, playing in big staduims and making award show appearances and making epic videos. If only the reunion wanters, Axl haters and Slash lovers can move on and embrace this Guns N' Roses. I hope this is "it' too. And know that they got Doc MeGee as their manager, a man that knows how to manange bands and has managed some good ones, this might be "it" Hopefully we get a new album by the end of this year.

  10. I can't stand some people, I mean really. The band is doing a surprise gig little tour thing and people are bitching and winning about how its stupid and unfair because only a few people can go. Give them a fuckin break. At least their doing something and arent silent for a month until their next tour stars, their having fun. Their doing something they want to do. Bitching and winning over it wont get you nowhere. Some people are really sad, their touring, their playing surprise gigs for 100 people in little clubs during about a month break in touring. Atleast we get some new pics and videos of the band while they could not do anything during the month break, idiots.

Its a great way to get people to know about them again, keep Axl's voice going strong, and for them to perform acoustic songs again. Come on, they haven't played Your Crazy for years.

  11. As much as I love him, I really feel like a change in opener's.

For Europe and USA I Agree, but here in South America we haven't seen him yet. It's perfect

    TOTALLY agree!!!!! :xmasssanta: :D:D

I hope Baz opens for them on the US tour. I would love to see him live, hes got a great voice, and I also like alot of his songs and the old Skid Row. Plus I never seen him live. He's got alot of energy on stage and it would be cool to see him sing Slave To The Grind and Youth Gone Wild live.

Just would like to see Baz more than some undergroud rock bands or Danko Jones. Thats see me though.

Hopefully GN'R come anywhere around my area when they come to the US, I would be one of the first ones with a ticket, I have to see this band live, their kicking ass!

  12. Guns always had diiferent members, the original GN'R was Axl, Izzy, Ole Beirch, Tracci Gunns, and Rod Garder. This band always had line-up changes from day one. Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, Steven is the most recoginizable one. After Steven was fired, I don't think people were saying this isn't Guns N' Roses, then Izzy leaves and it's still the same, no bitching over the name. Now it's Axl, Slash, Duff, Gilby Clarke, Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed. People still didn't care about the name. After '94 everything changes. Axl gets new recruits after his old members leave to keep the band giong, returns at Rock In Rio 2001 and people start bitching about the name. You know why, because of Axl. 'Axl this...", "Axl that....', "I hate Axl" is the reason why they don't think the band is GN'R. They think they group has "hired guns" where the whole history had "hired guns' ( Slash, Duff, Steven, Dizzy, Gilby, and Matt) If Slash had the name, people would care, but not as much as when Axl has the name. Put people have to realize this IS Guns N' Roses.

Dave Mustaine is the only long term member of Megadeth and i don't here people bitching about the name. KISS have two members wearing make-up of two old members, I don't think many KISS fans are bitching like, "this isn't KISS, thier hired members, their disgracing the legacy." Dave Coverdale is the only long term member of Whitesnake, I doubt people care about the name. But Axl Rose, "he should keep the name," "it's an Axl Rose Solo Project", "hired guns suck." Maybe if they put their personal stuff aside and accually listen to the music, they will realize this is Guns N Roses. Maybe not the one you remember, but if you stop living in the past and put personal hatred aside, you'll realize this is Guns N' Roses.

  13. In my view this is Guns N Roses. The only reason why people can't come to realize this is GN'R is because of Axl Rose. They think he took complete control of the band and fired them. Which in real life, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Matt left on their own terms. And some people have a personal hatred toewards him for somthing he did 20 years ago.

Now today, people don't even give him a chance. But people have to realize, the old GN'R wil never reunite, so if you want Guns N' Roses, you listen to this band. Just because Slash had a book and mentioned all the stuff about Axl and GN'R, doesn't mean its true, the same with Axl, no one really knows what happened between them two to hate eachother. Theres one thing for sure though:This IS Guns N' Roses. This band today is kicking ass live, Axl is back with a vengence and sounding great on stage, and they have the raw, energetic, rebellious feel of Guns N' Roses, including Chinese Democracy. Until people get their heads out of their ass and stop living in the past, they will never trully embrace the new and great Guns N' Roses.

    P.S. Fuck the haters!

  14. I don't think they'll be re-releasing the same exact album, with the same tracks. I thinks they might have a few bonus tracks on it, maybe the new versions Oh My God and Silkworms and a few live tracks or a LIVE DVD included, that would be cool. I wouldn't buy the album again just for a different cover for the same price you bought the original one. Maybe if its $5, but not for $15-16, its kinda a waste, you already have the music. I would only buy it if they had bonus stuff with it .

I also hope Axl and the band promote it this time around, go on some late night shows, do some more surprise gigs and release it in general stores and not just best-buy, I was in there yesterday and they still had many there for $12, their not losing any now.

As great as the band is doing now, they should have no problem getting back in the mainstream music scene, they sound awesome, and their shows are selling out. Hopefully we see this band kick ass in the US for the general public to get to know the new, kickass Guns N' Roses.

  15. This thread has turned into hostile envriement. First Revolver is telling a story about going to a GN'R concert, everybodys loving it. Then Madison says something about the banned T-shirts rumor and lord and behold, Axl Rose replies and rips her apart. Now there are over 30 pages and peaople are still agreeing and disagreeing over what Axl said was right or wrong, talking about Madison or welcoming Axl back.

Welcome back Axl, come and chat with us again, I wasn't a member the last time you were anwering guestions. and chatting with us. Love you have a twtter though and are updating it for us, your fans.Good luck for the rest of the tour and please come to the US!

  16. I don't really care how Axl looks like, but I'll have a say in this topic. I think Axls look today is awesome, he's back to the basics with the long hair and bandana. His 2006 look was awesome too, because of his braids, he was in good shape, and look completely badass with the outfit's he wore.

    VS.

    31783226-31783227-large.jpg

Both looks look completely badass. If I had to pick one, It would be the 2010 look, he just has to slim down a litle and lose the bikerstach, he should just grow back the 2006 goatee.

The whole band today is sounding very good, Axl is back on top of his game and I really want to see them live.

  17. I enjoy Chinese Democracy and I love that the band is touring, but.....

What about Chinese Democracy 2? Will it come out and if so, when do you think it will?

I Hope they release it this year and the last one in 2012 (If it is going to be a trilogy). I would love to hear new music from the band.

"Same bat time, same bat channel"? November 23, 2010? 2011, 2012, Never?

    Possible Tracklisting:

    01. Quick Song

    02. Zodiac

    03. Oh My God

    04. Berlin

    05. Ides Of March

    06. The General

    07. Seven

    08. Beta's Barn

    11. Down By The Ocean

    12. Thyme

    13. Silkworms

    14. Atlas Shrugged

I want to hear your opinions.

  18. Todays band is, in my opinion, the best band in the "New GNR" era. With the guitar playing of DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot to Axl Rose's voice and image being back to the early 90's, I have to say this line up is awesome. The videos I saw of the tour are just awesome because the whole band in its entirety sounds awesome. I really want to see them live.

Now to this band being the best ever, no. Because the best 5 band members this band ever has will and always be Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Steven. That was the band that got the name GUNS N' ROSES huge. Of course I love the new band, the Appetite era line up will always be the best.

Until they make a album that sells 28 million worldwide (Appeite) they (todays GN'R) aren't the best but their really good.

  19. DJ grew on me too. After The first show I liked him. He has a great style of guitar playing, much like Slash. I think Ashba is the best thing since Slash to be play guitar in GN'R. He has the rock and rock look and playing style, more than Buckethead or Finck, althought I started liking Finck during while I was watching the 06 shows. Dj Ashba is a great addition for GN'R. They look and sound more like a rock and rock band now with DJ Ashba.

  20. I think he had vocal coaching.

Also when I watched the video for the VMA's 2002 performance he sounded good on Madagascar, but sounded bad on Jungle and Paradise. During a video of Nightrain form 2002 it sounded like he was high on helium, it seems during '02 he has a more pitchier sound than in '06, he got his raspy voice back, thankfully. I think also all the vocal straining he has during 91-93 when he was practicully screaming the whole time did ruin his voice alittle bit. Atleast todays he's more mature and safe and doesn't try to strain his voice to much. Atleast he sounds better than he did in 2002. Today he sounds awesome! He sounds on the top of his game and he's having fun and singing with fierce. Also the 10 year weight of Chinese Democracy is off his back.

To sum it up: Axl Rose is back and singing better than ever!

  21. The band sure has their shit together, they sound and perform great...

Axl on the other hand.... he knew for a long time he had a tour to prepare for and clearly didn't. I mean it is cool he lost the dreads and has the top end of his voice in raspy awesomeness BUT I'm sorry he forgets words to songs he wrote (even with a telaprompter) he comes in on the wrong parts (prostitute), and his chest voice is so out of practice he can't even hit the notes around the high e, f,g in his natural voice, hence he goes off key alot...

I mean on the whole its pretty awesome to see the band back and axl out of stage but he could have seriously got in shape, practiced with the band, learned his own songs properly, and got his voice in proper shape..... they were paid 750000 per show on the asia tour... not chump change.. he should take things a little more seriously.
