  1. Calling the album "Guns N' Roses" would be a pathetic attempt to cash in even further on the band name.

Or maybe a good way to say "fuck you" to the haters who can't move on, can't realize Slash isn't in the band anymore and won't actually give the band a chance.

  2. I would be surprised if any back catalog stuff showed up on either RB or GH from here on out. Slash is not going to agree on licensing to RB because he is associated with GH, and vice versa for Axl regarding old stuff to GH. Getting them to agree on anything related to the back catalog is often like pulling teeth if one side has a particular vested interest or relationship with the party looking to license something.

Does Slash need to agree? I'm not sure personally who owns the rights to the licenses to whatever, but I'm sure most of you guys do. In the article it says that Axl has the rights to all of the licenses, but that doesn't seem right to me, so I'm wondering if they messed up in the article. But, if it is true, then Slash doesn't actually have to agree and we could see it in Rock Band.

Axl can do anything he wants with the new stuff as he owns 100% of it.

    Does he?

What was the resolution of the lawsuits?

I think Slash and Duff got paid for CD, and thats why Axl didn't promote it.

I think thats been the hold up, this whole time.

i dont think axl has much interest in promoting the old band.

Well why didn't he just change name. Or go on without it?

No disrespect, but I think Axl is very much interested in making money off of the legacy; The only problem is, any kinda of promotion Axl does for GNR, will forever be linked to, and help Slash and vice versa.

I think Axl knows that, and hates that fact to such a degree - that he does nothing.

Also, who is to say that Slash and Duff aren't getting a 10% cut of cd sales. We don't really know the resolution to everything.

Yeah we know the Axl owns the name - but what are the details?

Though I agree in part, I'm not sure it's for the money, rather than for spite of the other band members getting called GnR. I think he dislikes the fact that guys who, in his mind, abandoned the band, make fame and profit off of its name. Not that this is really a moral reason for it, it makes more sense to me. Axl doesn't seem like he does any of this for the money. That was the original lure of GnR to me in the first place. They seemed real while many other bands of the late 80s and early 90s seemed very fake. So, I view Axl's position to be misguided, yet still genuine and not about money.

I doubt Axl kept the for money. Just like Axl said before, he is the last man standing. He was never fired, even though Slash and the other's seemingly couldn't stand him during the 90's and Axl turned into a prick with a huge ego, they still allowed him to be the voice of the band. I think Axl keeping the name is out of dignity, not out of greed. Even though he contiues to be disrespected, made fun of, and hated, plays in half filled arena's, and had the most anticipated album of all time be panned and called a flop by many people, he continues to go around with the name Guns N' Roses. He know's many people don't like it, but there are people, like me, that simply don't give a shit.

Even though Slash played a huge part in GN'R, Axl was the centerpiece. He was the irreplaceable one, not Slash. Why else do you think he wanted he name, for protection. He wanted to stay in the band, he wanted to be safe, no matter what. If was fired, the name would go with him. If he wanted the money, he would have reunited with the original band years ago! The is the highest profit he'll ever get, but he'll never do it!

Now after 20 or so years of existence, the name Guns N' Roses is still being kept alive by one man, Axl Rose.

  3. There were no singles.

I heard Chinese Democracy once at the radio, and Better many times.

i heard SOD on a weekly basis up until 2010. haven't listened to the radio much in the last few months.

    this thing had promo.

it was reviewed in every music magazine - was talked about on every music site. had a commecial during monday night football.

people who buy cd's and like music where aware of its existence.

    it was the music.

people wanted to see axl, the faceless ads had no context.

Western those reviews mostly positive? almost unanimous?

    it wasn't the music.

The only reason it could have possibly hurt album sales; people who might have bought it out of curiosity listened to the stream and decided it wasn't worth buying. Anybody who liked the music enough wasn't just going to listen to a fucking stream on myspace all the time...

sounds like Axl is scraping for anything he can possibly use against Azoff, this isn't even worth including, if anything it just weakens his case

i had many friends who listened and LOVED it, then they downloaded it. people wont buy something unless they decide to intentionally support the artist, and have the means to do so.

when you are a student in university trying to scrounge up 10 bucks for a gram of dope, and axl rose is cruising around malibu in his ferrari, you have a choice to make, have dope and chinese democracy (downloaded for free), or no dope and support the artist / buy the album.

    its a pretty obvious decision.

That's what's wrong with today's music fans. Their too fuckin lazy to go out and buy an album. They would rather download crappy version's of the 4 hit single's the artist had on Itunes than buy the whole album.

Sure, I downloaded album's on torrents, but that's because I didn't really have any money to spend. I made a promise though, that I won't download another album unless I HAVE TO. An example would be Baz's Angel Down album, I looked everywhere for it, FYE, Best Buy, Target, I couldn't find it anywhere, so I was forced to download it.

Most of the albums I'll probably buy again anyway, half of them are crappy varsions.

  4. Not just streaming the album was the reason for the low album sales, the leaks played a bigger part in the weak album sales.

If no leaks, the album would've faired much better. I mean, when you hear a song live it's different than when you hear a studio demo version. When people heard the same songs 30 times before the album came out, they'll probably be tired of it, of like the demo version better.

All the missinterputations and over anticipation of the album played a role too. People expected AFD 2.0, they got the Illusions mixed with NIN. When pople heard that they got turned off completely. The album was never gonna be another Appetite, nor a hard rock, blued based record. Axl want's to evolve, that's was I think CD is, an evolvement from the Illusions.

Other reason's may be the band name, anger towards Axl, grew out of GN'R, never knew it was coming out, or just didn't care. For some people, no Slash. <_<

  5. The outro of Better

    If I were you

    I'd manage to

    avoid the invitation

    Of promised love

    that can't keep up

    with your adoration

    Just use your head

    and in the end you'll

    Find your inspiration

    To choose your steps

    and won't regret

    This kind of aggravation

    Sorry:

Truth is the truth hurt's don't you agree. It's harder to live with the truth about you than to live with the lies about me.

    The opening verse of Madagascar:

    I won't be told anymore,

    that I've been brought

    down in this storm

    And left so far out

    from the shore,

    but I can't find my

    way back, my way anymore

  6. Whaat?? The video wasn't released two years ago??

They did say "soon", didn't they??

Well, Axl did say we'll "see the video in a week or so," in December 2008. It's been over a year and a half and all we got was a 40 second clip tha'ts not even a teaser of the video.

I will always wonder why there was no video released, and why Axl went missing when the album came out.

  7. No. Even though it's a great rock song, it already ran it's course. It's possible tey could release a video for it on Youtube o their Myspace page, but it's been a single for a while. It was already re-released when it came out on CD, everyone knew the song already.

What they have to do now is release Chinese Democracy II (or Guns N' Roses) and promote it properly.

  8. Hopefully it is true. If it is, that's fuckin' cool. Even though I obviously won't be going, would be cool to see what songs they play. Maybe they'll play a few new songs like at the RIR '01 concert, when they played 6 or 7 songs off of the Chinese Democracy and the wlasn't gonna be released for another 7 years. Maybe The General, Soul Monster, and Atlas Shrugged. Who the fuck knows!

    Maybe we'll get Estranged. :shrugs:

It is not a confirmation of them playing, hundreds if not thousands asked everyone on twitter to use these tags, Ron did, guns did as well. Until it is confirmed we simply do not know if it will happen.

How many times has that happened in the last 10 years of the band.

  9. If they were gonna release a album of re-recorded material from 10 years ago, I would name it "Chinese Dmeocracy II." If they were gonna release a album iwth brand new recorded material, I would name it "Guns N' Roses."

Either way, I want a new album.

  10. Loose Your Illusions & Democracy Forever. hehe kidding.

I don't care about the album name, I just want new songs!

I could not agree more, I want new music. Even re-recorded material from 10 years ago would be fine with me. New music is all I want for GN'R, and them to tour in the States.

  11. I don't know what it is, but I like it.

I didn't know that Dizzy would sound like Bret Michaels when he sings.

Did Fortus say something about Dizzy having a solo album in his interview a few weeks ago. I'm definitely gonna buy it.

  12. I don't think it's a question that Axl was more in shape in '06. He was way out of shape in the beginning of this tour in '09. Then over time he began gettting back into shape, but at the begin at the European tour he was overweight again. Not that I really care what he looks like, his voice is what I care about, it's just if he's fat, there's another thing a hater can nit-pick at.

  13. here is the vid

awesome thanks. Interesting Axl at kiss concert with Doc, wonder if Paul Stanley knows yet LOL

I wander what'll come out of this. I though Doc wasn't GN'R's manager, didn't Paul say that. With Doc as manager only good things can happen. Either way, cool to see Axl enjoying himself at a rock concert, let alone KISS. I wonder how much people noticed Axl was there. He's look is very distinctive.

Axl hanging out with Gene's daughter, I guess Axl didn't read what Gene said about him.

  14. I like the 3 guitarist idea. Each man can bring something to the table and showcase their talents. They can also switch off between solo's. If one person can't do one part, another person does it. DJ and Fortus are more of raw guitarist's while Bumblefoot is a more technical guitarist. They all have things that make them unigue.

And I don't care if it takes if it takes three guitarist to cover Slash's parts. They all add their own feel into their solo covers. Even when Finck was sloppy, he did it his own way. I like all every guitarist in GN'R, I don't care what people say. They all own style and feel. I was never really able to appreciate Buckethead, and his contributions to GN'R, but I can't really take him seriously, his guitar playing is good, but his gimmick and appearance was more a joke than anything.

  15. thats a mindblowing solo and a mindblowing vocal performance in mindblowing quality :D

I've even one with a better quality but its 550mb just for 3 mins !

Ashba's solo sounds perfect, like if I was listening to the album. Cool to see the crowd appreciating a good song.

  16. I don't know what ot think. Doesn't really sound like Axl, but Axl ddin't sound like himself in 2000 with the mickey mouse pitchy voice. 13 seconds isn't enough to judge.

Anyway, I hope they play it again during tis tour. I know Axl will sound good on it, it's the player's I'm worried about. We now Bumblefoot can play the solo. This song is so good, I don't know why they don't play it. If Axl sounds as good as he sounds on Don't Cry, he can sound good on Estranged.

  17. Hell yeah I would download it! Any new song from GN'R is good for me, even a leak. I hope eventually they play a new song at a concert. To hear a brand new song by GN'R would be awesome.

I just hope we get a new album later this year or next year so we don't have to wait much longer for another album. CD is great, but one album in 15 years isn't enough.

  18. Maybe release a video for it. I don't know about releasing it as a single. TWAT, ITW, CITR, Sorry, I.R.S. all are more potential single's than TIL. Even though it's a good song, there's no real moment in the song other than the solo. That's why November Rain was good, because of the pick-up in the end and the solo.

Personally, I would like them to release a video for a song off the album. Even pro-shot video material for the a video like Better or Chinese Democracy. A DVD would be 100% awesome!
