Marc, in the chats that Axl had on this website a few years ago he got pretty in depth about this song. He said it was a demo and nothing more, he played it for Slash and Duff and they said it was awesome and to put it on the album as is. Even though he thought it needed more work, Slash pushed on saying not to change a thing. Axl said he thought Slash knew the track would get bashed and it was done to make Axl look bad. Any thoughts on that?

That accusation is a little paranoid to say the least...

It just shows what kind of communication problems these two had with each other. I'm not sure if Slash liked it or not but I can imagine that telling Axl it was great and could be released on the record was a step made to please him, some kind of sacrifice to make him happy and then it got twisted like that in Axl's mind.

Generally, reading through everything they said, starting from the first band interviews until recently, I often saw a similar thing happening. Slash letting go and making a sacrifice about smth and Axl not seeing it at all, usually thinking Slash wanted it that way. And vice-versa cause it worked both ways. Personally, I am sure that, contrary to what is often believed, especially recently, these two had a very close, loving relationship in which both parties genuinly wanted the best for one another but, ineed, the way their minds work is so different that it made it impossible. Good intentions and attempts at doing something good for the other were taken as an insult rather than appreciated, a misunderstanding followed a misunderstanding, those misunderstandings did not get explained when they should have been and it got built up to the point where there was no turning back because the trust and the faith in the other person was gone. Sad because it is sort of nobody's fault but it sometimes happens to people.

Sometimes what is meaningless to me is a great insult and hurt to somebody else and that person then gets even or blames me or yells at me and I don't understand why so I feel mistreated and I feel hurt and so I become unpleasant and it's a sort of chain reaction that leads to a catastrophe. That's why I believe Marc is totally right that they needed someone to explain to them how the other mind works and where certain things came from. Too bad there was noone there to do it

It like your ex is having heart problems, even though you don't like them anymore, you still may be concerned.

I can understand that perfectly well. I can personally think of cases where it would be the case.

What I was asking was if it didn't cross Axl's mind to try and make contact with Slash at that time. You know a sort of "fuck the whole war, I wanna see and hear how he's doing" thing. I can imagine he probably didn't make contact with him in the end but has he considered smth like that?

You know, many times conflicts between people got resolved or at least weakened in moments of serious illness or other misfortunes. Because you may think it might be your last chance to talk to someone so you use the ocasion regardless of the circumstances and then once that person gets better it would be stupid to jump back to the non-speaking phase so you stay in contact and have an opportunity to explain many things. Too bad it didn't happen like that.

By the way do you think Axl's offer to have Slash working on some CD tracks at around that time might have something to do with that?

Marc, you said that back at the time Slash was very ill with his heart Axl was truely concerned. Did it ever cross his mind at that time to visit him or call him at least? Do you know anything about it?

Anyway, shame it didn't happen. Quite often conflicts get resolved in such situations....

The reunion would bring on a killer album to die for finally and and amazing tour. If for someone this isn't interesting they're nothing but idiots.

They would reunite no doubt if only they could solve their problems. But they can't cope with it on their own, there's too much misunderstanding and complete lack of communication. Someone would really have to help them with it but the people closest to them don't seem to care unfortunately.

I voted no! I would like to see them do something at the HOF. But I would rather Slash continue on his present musical path. He is sober and happy.

That is not related to the subject. If you think he was not sober because of the evil Axl there's obviously something wrong with your mind. And what Slash does now isn't even 1/10th of the quality and level he achieved in GNR so I don't understand why you prefer it unless you're deaf.

Lock all the threads for reunion,its total waste of time and bullshit discussion of something will never gonna happen.Axl said it 2-3 times again and again,what else to say to understand it.

Actually you're entirely wrong. Axl never ruled out a reunion, not even in the last letter. He said it plainly that there will be no conversation let alone reunion until all the lies Slash told about him are straightened out. Which means he would consider the reunion if Slash clarified what he said. Whether that can ever happen is another story. But that's a whole different picture than the one you painted.

And the truth is Axl would want a reunion on condition that they would patch things up. He obviously can't get over Slash and the old Guns to a much greater extent even than the reunion fans themselves. He talks about him all the time. He's obsessed with him. He can't do anything productive with the new band because his level of engagement in the project is probably less than 30% of what it was with the original guys. Unless you want to believe in the management problems as the sole reason for him not releasing new music but I guess it is too obvious a crap for even the most die-hard Axl follower to believe in.

As Marc Canter said, he hasn't moved on. To a certain extent neither did Slash (though he's doing significantly better in this respect). To be able to once again use their creative juices to the fullest they need to communicate and need to reconcile. Whether that means they will be in GNR together again is another story. Though I am almost sure that if they reconcile personally this is only a matter of time.

For me SLash and Axl are the ones and Slash and Axl would definitely be enough!!!

And... once those two reunite the rest will join in in no time.
