    Totally agree.

To preface, I am as hardcore a GN'R fan as anyone. IMO vintage AXL is the best rock & roll voice I've ever heard.

I had no clue who Myles Kennedy was until I went to one of SLASH's shows in 2010 at the Warfield Theater in SF for his solo album. At the show I then realized, "ok this is the guy that sings Starlight and Back to Cali". Which just happened to be among my favorite songs on that album.

After the show, I began investigating and listening to Alter Bridge, who I was only luke warm to for a while. But over time, I've grown to really love AB and, by proxy, Myles.

I've enjoyed each of the SMKC albums released to this point in time.

Myles isn't vintage AXL, of course. But I still really like his vocals on most songs. Like any vocalist, there are songs I'm not wild about. But on the whole he is very good IMO. When singing GN'R tunes, he offers a different (not equal, certainly not better) spin on the material. I'm very ok with it. I even like when Todd 'Dammit' Kerns sings WTTJ. It's different. And not terrible.

In reality, folks complaining about Myles singing GN'R material is no different than AC/DC fans complaining about AXL singing AC/DC's catalogue. While many were pleasantly surprised at the result, they still greatly prefer Brian Johnson. And rightfully so.

The other thing about Myles is that I greatly appreciate his guitar work. He's very underrated in that regard. His portion of the solo on Blackbird is phenomenal, as is Tremonti's. I really think he and SLASH work well together as guitarists and musicians. I greatly prefer AXl and SLASH, but in a world where we can have both, I'm quite alright with it.

    Totally support your post :)

also, when I found about Alter bridge, it was a slow grower too but now it is in my top 5 bands, they are amazing!

  2. I never saw Slash or Duff live so I would go anytime to see them if they were near to my home even if it is in the next 10 years  I assume there are many others who feel like me

I don't have any issues if there is no new album. If there is one, I don't have high hopes or expectations - half of it would be good, other half probably so-so.

Im just glad they are back together

At this stage, the concept of an AFD 5 reunion tour I could only see happening as a Vegas residency down the track. The general public appetite (pardon the pun) for an AFD reunion just isn't there, as GNR to most is the partnership of Axl and Slash.

This. And if you ask anyone (that is not die hard fan) about GnR and who are their members, I can assure you they would say Axl, Slash and some other guys. I am sure they do not know who is Steven and do not give a f**k about it. 50-60% it goes the same way for Izzy or Duff.

I have been a fan from 1991 and I personaly would be more interested to see Matt behind the drums rather than Steven. Maybe it is because I grew up with Illusions and YCBM was the first song I heard from GnR.

Also I really really like Matt's drumming, it was so precise and it sounded like terror of the hurricane that is nearly coming.

This become even more likely for me and his drumming with Neurotic outsiders, man, it was so raw and joyfull to listen-best part of this album is the drumming.

Than came The Cult - Beyond good and evil. I remember when it came out, some of my friends who were musicians and drummers were blown away by his drumming, it was fericious as they said. And they knew him as a GnR drummer :)

the same goes for Contraband too.

I listened that one album of Steven adler ,,Back from the dead" and his drumming was so boring to me, straight forward, cowbell dumbshit, sorry. Same goes for guest spot on Slash's song ,,Baby cant drive" - no life at all, no groove that carries the song

on the other side, maybe just simply saying, Matt has a much more powerfull groove for me.

AFD5 - I do not care at all!

I saw Axl once, I just need to see or listen Slash and I would be happy :)

it is bussiness now (I have nothing against that and I support them for that because it is BUSSINESS now) and ,,once there was this rnr band rolling on the streets..." and they'll never be what they used to be. I have accepted that long time ago and moved along, life is much better :)

oh yeah, cant wait for the book even if it is not so true as we expect ;)

Nice one. 25 years on and It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere is still a favourite of mine.

I like the sound of releasing 3 EPs over a period of time. That could be a way forward for bands to great excitement and prolong touring. It's odd though that Eric said the Lickerish Quartet had no plans to tour.

    Mine favorite too :)

i wish someone would re-release it on vinyl, it would be like b-day present :)

I really loved Eric's voice from the first time I heard the album

  5. Slash said something in some interview like ,,we do not know how to release album"

maybe he was reffering to the CD leftovers and a couple of new songs by Axl, Duff and him (I dont believe they have written 12 or more songs that are worth material by Axl's standards, I assume 4-5 songs are written)

so the do not know how to ,,complete" album with that

maybe I am wrong with this but just was thinking

I think there's lots of assumptions here. Suddenly Duff somehow is somehow orchestrating everything while manipulating everyone else including someone as volatile as Axl? Really?

    This. Thanks.

I just do not believe he is behind all of this. I firmly believe it is Axl.

Duff has always been a ,,glue", a mediator as everybody used to say. Now to think that he become ,,man from the shadow pulling the strings" after he got sober I found it ridicolous!

I know people change during their lifetime but not that much to become prick-dick-bastard-SOB-etc ...

but he definitely has his hands in the management of all of this but the last words are Axl's

Woah, their quality from Californication to Stadium Arcadium (Frusciante's second tenure) was phenomenal.

2011's "I'm With You" with Josh Klinghoffer on guitar was average, but the B-sides compilation "I'm Beside You" is miles better. Their 2016 album was pretty good, though.

Although now Frusciante has rejoined the band, I've got very high hopes for their next album.

I would just say that RHCP is one fantastic band, from the beginings in 80-ies until The Getaway... every album had its own spirit and story (just read Anthony's book).

I just still didnt get in the groove with the gateway, just do not feel it but it is really different and I will give a few more listens

Yet they didn't and Matt during the documentary on the formation of VR get yelled at by duff because basically Matt is being overly negative.

Oh yeah, I remember that :)

and he was the only one who confronted Axl during UYI tour (think it was Germany) because he left the stage so later he got sh*t from Axl :)

even Slash and Duff said for Axl in some interview '88 he is pain in the ass 😂😊😊😊

not to go any further, I get your point, thanks :)

but I am really looking forward to his book, I think it will be interesting read for sure

No one is saying he was be it all to end it all. Pretty much everyone has said GnR then was those 4-5 .  Just talking shyt here. That Izzys solo stuff could be a good GnR new music , but it  just needs Duff and Slash to add , change, and rework it. Izzy was a good blueprint.    These 4 guys writing together is not going to happen. 35 years ago was then.                            Now is now.                                                      Truly, truth. People change friendships and grow apart because of their work and things.  Move away . GnR are no different than anyone else. My opinion, they are not really friends anymore. Tour was 4 years in and out of The USA and Izzy never joined them as a guest to play a song or two. He just never went  to any show to just hang out. Steven has finally even stopped groveling .

I am not sure im what form of ,,friendship'' they are now, I guess they are in some but everything else you wrote I do agree.

He was a ,,blueprint", that is the word I was looking for, perfect one!

Totally agree, only hardcore fans get the leaks, and most of us will buy every record GNR release.

    I totally agree with this

and while we bitch and blah blah blah all the time about the leaks and neverending tour and same setlist, we will forget all of this when they release something... well if they release at all 😊

...and that "punk as fuck" means making huge amounts of money?

    Yeah :)

even Sex pistols did it in the 70-es

they got million pounds for album, broke up, took money and released some shit just to fullfill a contract and they are legends for that :) (it was something like that, cant remember clearly)

so why not earn millions if they are serving on a plate?

I'm not entirely sure what your point is. My best guess is you're saying that GNR shouldn't give a shit what their fans think because they're making a ton of money and they're going to die someday. Do I have that right?

Not shouldnt give but dont give a shit for anyone and that is from their early days, especially Axl

we're all gonna die someday :)

just saying that majority of people on concerts are regular fans, and many others who just wanted to hear Dont cry, Sweet child, November rain and few others
