I think he has to put out another album this year and keep the momentum going. If he waits 3 or 4 years he loses all momentum and it'll be like just starting over again, only less people will care. It'd most likely be reunion or death at that point. Kind of like what happened to Van Halen after they did that album with the singer of Extreme. Axl really needs to start pushing this band if he wants to keep going on an arena type level.
Axl does not care. If people like the music he makes and support him and the new band, great. If they don't, I really don't think he gives a fuck. CD sold under a million copies in the US, but does that make it any less great? Momentum does not matter. Like Baz says, he is motivated by his art, not by money.

da financial crisis makes people sell their bodies on da dirty streets today (just to get something to eat when the night comes!)
...that poor man lost his job, he used to work in a bank(in new orleans for years), he has a baby to feed, his woman left them (for being a true junkie) so what else he could do? ...buying the chinese democracy album ? 
...he faced da world, he went to a gay bar, he got the costumers those times, he was very down while doin' his new work but he was tryin' ta get a decent one and he got nothing there, so somehow he has to pay da'bills and put food on his table, it was something very shocking to know but ABC News had to show the real life that e.e.u.u has been living recently... I also saw it on a news program over here so I wonder what Rock escene is waiting for ?

Regardless of what anyone thinks, or wants to admit, Guns N' Roses, or any band really, would have great success touring with artists such as Lady Gaga, Shakira, etc.

Ego? Stubbornness? Personally, I have no idea and I don't even TRY to understand it. If I were him, I'd do club shows because that's what the current US market dictates. Yeah, it's awesome playing arenas but I mean, you can't just WILL people to your shows and what promoter in their right mind's going to put up with it?
And as for the "loved around the world" statement, that's only half true. Take a look at the numbers for the Argentina 93 show (the final one for the old band) and compare it their recent numbers. In 1993, they drew more then 80,000 people. In 2010, it was around 35,000.
Respectful numbers, sure....but nothing compared to the way it use to be.
The Argentina '93 show was with Slash who was an original gunner, that's not a fair comparison imo.
I believe there will be a US tour this year, but I don't think CD2 is close to release at all...

on Alonso, if he is the best how he could not plainly beat his rookie teammate in 2007 (you can argue that he did not get better support than Hamilton, but not worse off either)....I can accept he is the second best:)....on raw speed they claim Kimi is the King....I would add Vettel from this year as a quick one
there was a lot of support from the team to get Hamilton up to speed as quickly as possible, they focused a lot on that while leaving a Alonso a bit alone... not that they where not giving him the best pieces, just that they focused a lot more on Hamilton... at the end, when they saw Hamilton could win races, Mechanics, Engineers, and the whole team started working a lot more passionately towards him, still Alonso wasn't doing a bad job... at the start of the season when Alonso got poles the whole team was happy, but when Alonso got poles and Hamilton started 5th, you could see the faces of dissapointment in the mechanics, when Hamilton got poles and Alonso was 5th, they where happy still....
and then the "equal treatment" excuse....., as mentioned, Alonso might not be the fastest driver out there, however he's probably the most consistent, whith a heavier car he could lap faster than most of his rivals including his teammate, but with a lighter car he wouldn't be as fast as Hamilton, when Hamilton was to race with 3 stops, which was often the case, Alonso requested 2, but they didn't let him because of the "equal treatment",
equal treatment is not having identical car setups, race strategies and factory developed pieces, it means giving them both the freedom to perform as they wanted, yet it didn't happen
at the end what really blew the whole thing off was the Hungarian incident, Mclaren had both cars 1-2 for the start of the GP, yet everyone in the team, including boss Ron Dennis was as mad as a mad dog, why? because it was Alonso starting first intstead of Hamilton, their more-than-obviously-at-that-point-preferred-driver, and then well, most of us know what happened, how Mclaren reacted?, they manipulated Alonso's tyre pressures, they didn't spoke to him, it's no surprise that he was underperforming at the latter stages of the Championship.
at the end the loosers were Mclaren, they got a 100 million dollars fine, they lost both championships, their image was tainted for a team that once was considered to be the most fairs out there, and Alonso left being considered by many outside of britain as the best driver on the grid up to this date.
i would like to point out that Hamilton has no fault at all of what happened, it was all Mclaren not managing Alonso good at all
the Hamilton vs Alonso rivalry was just taken out of context by the media, and now they're trying the same with Alonso - Massa so that they can point the finger at Alonso, but no one is buying it
