  1. So Axl wore the Kill Your Idols tshirt back in the day.

Is there a connection from that tshirt to anywhere else or is it just a random graphic designed tongue in cheek tshirt?

I know there's a punk band called Kill Your Idols but they were formed in 95 (after the tshirt) and there's also a punk doc called Kill Your Idols which I have not seen so is that tshirt connected to punk in some way?

    - Some "new" leaks - rough demos of Silkworms and Oh My God, with scratch BBF guitar tracks leaked, House of Blues 2001 proshot video, early 2000's era versions of The Blues and Madagascar, and a really inaudible phone recording of The General from a aftershow party in 2010

    -  In terms of gossip, there isn't too much beyond just the drama behind why Izzy wasn't part of the reunion and why Steven didn't have a bigger role.  That and the video takedowns which is just really a bunch of crazy unnecessary shit involving a couple of attention seeking knuckleheads playing GNR police

    -  And yeah pretty much it!  Saskatoon '93 leaked and that is a great kickass classic era show.  GNR played Slither and Shadow of Your Love live last year, I don't know if you know that at this point but I found that really exciting

Thanks for the updates! Yeah they didn't play Slither or SOYL in any of the shows I saw but I saw the vids online. Shadow was amazing but wasn't too mad about Axl's Slither vocal. That solo though!!!!!!!

  3. Been away from this forum for quite a while.....

Anything major happening since the "Reunion"?

Any new leaks (CD era / new?)

    Any interesting gossip?

I'm up as far as the surprise reunion, have seen them a few times and enjoyed it and all that and have seen news reports of possible new album which as usual, band members confirm is real :)

Other than the AFD re-release, is that pretty much it?

  4. Thanks! Stout looks nice and very near MSG. McGee's worth a visit too I guess and so will Tom's Cafe which was the front from Monk's in Seinfeld.

Actually just google mapping out some attractions, it sort of looks like the whole general area is walkable and cabs are just necessary when I get tired or whatever.

Have added that mueseum to my list too - thanks.

  5. I'm staying near enough to Central Park. Thanks for all the tips. Is MSG a safe area to commute around after the gig?

What other safety tips should I note and places to avoid and subway stops not to get off at? The only one I can think of is not to walk around Central Park on my own after dark but not sure how true that is!

So Uber is the way to go and not the yellow cabs? I'll probably move around by subway a bit during the day, I presume it's easy in NY.

I'm there for 5 days so surely get a lot done. Can't wait!!

Best pub in NY? Where will the GNR fans go after the gig?

If possible spend an evening sitting on a stoop - like the front steps of a living space.  In some neighbourhoods people hang on their stoops and make a night of it.  Drink a beer concealed in a paper bag.  Take in the energy of the neighbourhood.

Trash and Vaudeville clothing store is GnR related.

Barcade is a cool bar, with arcades.  I think theres a few locations, I can only speak to one.

    Great answer :D

That shop looks cool. I'm guessing the GNR connection is Axl's scarf possibly hat provider or is there some other connection?

These suggestions are hilarious, lol! @soon seems to know how to experience a city though.

-do not eat a hotdog from a stand

-the only good Italian is in Brooklyn, I can get you a few names of places as I don't pay attn to that

-NYC having the best food in the world is a myth and a lie on the same scale as Izzy didn't want to tour-tread carefully

I don't drink so can't help you out on the bar front. What are you interested in doing? Do you want to see an off broadway play? Do you want to people watch? Do you want to hear a religious sermon and possibly be stabbed? What's your poison?

Hey there, I don't really want to get stabbed but an off broadway play sounds cool as does people watching and just getting  general buzz for new york.

I love Soon's idea of drinking from a paper bag :D:D Sounds like Ice Cube in the Friday film.

Having the audacity to call yourself NEU YORK, you should probably know the answers to your questions.

  8. Hi everyone,

I"m heading to NY for one of the MSG shows in October but travelling from outside the US so making a holiday of it.

Any tips or advice on cool things to see and do outside the normal google results?

Any GNR related places to see?

    Cool bars?

    Thanks!

  9. CITR is the worst recorded GNR song of all time and given how potentially great it could be, it's possibly the worst recorded song of all time.

It has some of the best lyrics that Axl has ever written and one of his best vocal melodies to go with it but that's where it ends. Most people debate the solo and compare Brian May to Bumblefoot. They're both great guitar players so for me, I can take either as the lead guitar isn't the problem.

The rhythm section is awful on this.

If this song had better drums and piano and Axl had sung it in his classic voice and not the whiney one then this song could have been one of the best songs of all time (not just one of the best GNR songs) .

The production and mix is also catastrophic in this song and parts of it (particularly towards the end) sound like a child is playing with the knobs on the mixing board. I seriously think the version on CD wasn't the final mix and got shipped along with the wrong liner notes.

This might sound like I'm being hard or don't like the song. Not at all. It's just so disappointing for me to hear the greatness that this song could be but to have to listen through the awful version presented to get to it. If they ever rerecord any songs from the CD era, I just hope this is the first one they do because it has the potential to be one of the most emotive songs of all time if recorded properly.

  10. Amazing show. So happy I flew over to see this!!!!!

I was seriously blown away by how good Axl sounded! I've seen him live loads of times in recent years with the Chinese tours and never in my wildest dreams did I expect him to be that good. He was just incredible. YEAH!!!!!!!

  11. I reckon he's loving it with AC/DC just simply because it's just turn up and sing and enjoy it. Like actually enjoy himself without all the bullshit that goes with GNR. As much as he loves it, being in GNR must be a major pain in his ass over the years (lots of his own doing I know) so it must be nice to not have to worry about the business side of things too much and do what he originally wanted to do.... sing in a rock n' roll band.

  12. For me, there's no denial statement from GNR because it's fucking GNR and that would be waaaay too obvious!! I don't read anything into that.

Ax simply just doesn't take the easy road.

The possible reason Slash, Duff etc are not coming out and simply denying it is because they'd love to do it and probably hope it will happen and possibly enjoy the fact that everyone is pushing for it.

Then again it could all be true and who the fuck knows? :wow:

  13. Did I not see something form Vicky Hamilton where she stated she heard from Slash that there would be no reunion?

    That's enough for me.

She has no reason to lie and is credible. Put that against the fact that nobody else with credible connections to the band has said there would be a reunion.

People are caught up on why it's not being denied but why would you deny something that was never suggested?

This whole thing seems to be invented by wishful thinking based on a Slash comment that did not suggest anything about a reunion.

I just don't get it. Maybe I've been burned too many times over the years but nothing is happening unless you officially hear it.
