  1. Ok if you had the option

If you had the option to pick 12 songs out takes, b sides ,demos n live options from three eras what would you pick n why?

    A. 1988-1992

    B. 1999-04

    C. 2006-now

Ps. Out of curiosity am i the onlyone whod adore to hear more of the Josh, bucket n brain, fink stuff,?

  2. Am I a huge fan of it no. Yet in a historical sense it shows the route hed take with gnr late 90s early 2000s oh my god silk worms ect. I must say it shows what a diverse singer he is

  3. yes but in a band like GNR is being a promo whore that bad of a thing as of now?? Honestly ive dug DJ since i saw him in 08 with Sixx Am, he bring some 'youth' and energy back into GNR, in a way still kind of puting them into the 'general public' he likes doing interviews, he knows whats popular ect..Can you tell me anyone else in GNR that knows that, on the level he does? That and he is a solid producer as well..

  4. This is what i think would be if anything happened. Izzy is awesome, never was a huge fan of his solo work or his songs in gnr 14 years ect, but i have a huge level of respect for him. While i like duff, i adore tommy more for his work outside of gnr.. I do however think he would be the only other guy who might rejoin GNR. Izzy wont happen because well hes Izzy, Slash wont ever happen, and Steven is just to fucked up. So if anyone from the 'classic' line up was to rejoin itd be Duff..

I think Duff's enough of a pro to work with GnR that he'd be fine with how they do things, but I think it comes down to new songs and working on new music by getting some of the old vibe back, and incorporating it into the band now.

Very much agreed. I wouldn't rate it a particularly high chance- but if anyone would re-join it would be Duff IMHO. He's very professional, cares a great deal about GN'R fans, seems cool enough with Axl and is fairly tight with Bumblefoot as best we can tell. He also seems to have a mutually respectful relationship with Tommy- who might step-aside if Duff were really serious about re-joining.

That said- both Axl and Duff have to know that the reunion questions would swirrel around the band relentlessly if an alum like Duff came back on board (i.e. 3rd most important member "image-wise" in Old Guns). They probably want no part of that. I also have to believe Axl is insanely loyal to Tommy given how long they've been bandmates (also don't think Duff would really enjoy pushing Tommy out in any way if Tommy still wanted the gig, etc.).

  5. Saw him with soul asylum.. Tommy is one of the nicest down to earth people around, he stuck around signed t-shirts ect.. If hes a jerk i sure dont get it....

Tommy - He seems to have appointed himself the second in command after Axl and I don't like it.

Well, Axl did name him The General. Apparently Tommy's in charge of leading the rehearsals and what not. So I honestly don't think he appointed himself as second in command. And I've never witnessed him being a jerk at concerts. He seemed really friendly towards me whenever I called his name and took his picture. The guy is also hilarious on stage. I like Tommy a lot.

Stop what? They werent originals, tracci and Ole were the originals, Slash n Duff, were just considered the classic line up... I dont see how its 'shit' its just a simple fact....

seing is how duff and slash never were originals, they were from the classic lineup but not original

Oh for the love of god stop it, not this shit again.

  6. Wow..... Im sorry but Buckethead, had way more personality then any 'original' had seing is how duff and slash never were originals, they were from the classic lineup but not original. Fortus imo has about the same personality as Izzy had... However, Buckethead has had a great career , is often regarded as one of the best axe man ever, so i think he has done just fine since existing gnr. Finck as well. That being said, i dont get your point .... They are a fine set of musicians who have it running like a fine oiled machine. I happen to like more then 'classic' gnr, because i always felt from the live stuff i herd, (i never saw classic gnr as i was still in elementary school) was just too damn sloppy..And as far as endless solo's go, hell thats half of what is great about them, that however is just my opinion.

I don't hate anyone in the band.

However, I can't stand how some people fawn all over these guys (except Axl) like they're the best thing since sliced bread. If ANY of these current "band members" left tomorrow, you wouldn't give two shits about their solo albums or what they're up to, much like Robin, Buckethead, Brain, Tobias etc. (I know, I know - there will be always be the one guy on here who'll say "I CARE!!") Whatever. They just don't have the personality or chemistry that Duff, Slash and Izzy had.

At this point, they're all replaceable. I can't stand the phony love some people have on here for them. Oh, and before you slam me for being a hater, I've seen this current lineup probably 5 times, but it's for Axl, not the neverending solos, or because I enjoy hearing Bumble play the Pink Panther theme, or Stinson singing Motivation.

  7. The introduction of keyboards in a hard rock or metal band are usually the sign of progression and departure from earlier sound. Pioneered by Black Sabbath.

    Correct.

Very, very true.... I love the keys in gnr, playing the synth myself... Chris is very talented and very under used. I've been a fan of Reed, since i got into GNR back in the late 90's.. I dont get why people hate on him. Axl wanted him in gnr since the AFD days, that says alot. I say more Chris n Dizzy at shows imo..

  8. Wow judging by seeing him in Co which is notorious for being hard on singers (how high up from sea level we are ), he sounded amazing. He hit all the notes in the songs very well. From the lows on (its so easy) to the highs in Sweet Child o Mine

  9. As a diehard pumpkins fan i find the original post a bit off. Billy wrote and played everything on the albums except drums which was played by chamberlin except on adore and there new stuff. In a nutshell the pumpkins were allways Billys band.

    Gnr not so much.

Both axl n billy are musical genious and had huge fam in the 90s but other then that the band aspects not so much.

the question of this topic: two icons moving ahead with their projects, with totally different lineups of their groups. this is the similarity between them, despite their differences.

For me it still isnt the same. The pumpkins in the studio was billy and Jimmy(mostly). Unless you are talking live only. Then yes I will agree on that.. Having seen the pumpkins live they still put on a great show. I saw them in 08 at a sold out red rocks, so then they still sold well live, same a year later at a smaller venue however..One of the best live acts, im a hard core fan so i dont give a fuck if they play the hits or not.

Yes they are the same in the fact that they are moving a head and playing live with differant band members but other then that, not so sure... Billy still writes a ton and releases it mostly free now on his site, maybe axl ought to try that who knows..
