  1. From what I've surmised, Chinese Democracy and what comes with it has been a white elephant, especially in the United States, for longer than a decade. It represents to a lot of people why this band isn't Guns N' Roses. The band would be more palatable and attract a wider nostalgic audience if the songs were strictly from the classic era. The good news for the band is that it would no longer be burdened being the Chinese Democracy Tour, all things considered.

  2. I was just saying the "neutral" fans aren't really that at the end of the day which is why I put it into quotation marks. I support Slash most of the time but that has been after preponderance of the evidence over the years, it's not because I simply worship him. I think a lot of people didn't really follow what I was talking about. I'm in favor of Slash blocking the DVD and agree with him on it. I would have actually been disappointed if he didn't. I didn't agree with the way the overall situation was characterized and the unfavorable position on it got neutralized.

Anyways, as unpopular as the opinion might be, Thank you Slash!

  3. Back in the day, another "fan of the old and new band" forgot to put Slash playing the Super Bowl as a GN'R head line. The actual headline was Dj Asbha's new phone App. I had to ask to get it updated. If you look at the latest headline, it does put Slash in a bad light. There were no headlines put out when Slash's stuff was blocked.

I don't feign being a fan of Nu-GN'R. I'm not. Bastardizing of my thread to make some peacenik parody is just lame. At least come up with something clever. I fully supported Slash's decision (if true) to block the DVD. There was nothing wrong with my opinion. That was my perspective on things.

  4. I for one side with Slash's side on things most of the time. There's also people out there that are blatantly Axl supporters. There are others though that imply they are just fans and enjoy both bands equally (although I can't think of single one of those that has a Slash avatar though so in my mind, those people at the end of the day are more or less Axl supporters.)

There's an effort to keep the peace and prevent arguments from going back and forth but in my mind that isn't really fair.

Thing is, a large part of the bad publicity, discussion of villainous acts, negativity, and downright assholery surrounds W. Axl Rose. Trying to defuse a discussion or neutralize the arguments for the sake of protracting a peaceful environment just seems to be a convenient way to prevent anything negative to be further said about Axl.

Another things I've heard a lot of times is people say they both did shit to each other. That isn't really an accurate way of assessing it to me. What Axl has done to fans, Slash, his band, throughout the years is vastly worse than anything Slash has ever done. Trying to say it was equitable just seems to be another way to stamp out any controversy that goes Axl's way.

"I'm okay, you're okay. We're all friends". Not really. I disagree. I don't attack people but I definitely don't with agree the opinions of many here, especially those that espouse a neutral sentiment. I actually find it harder to accept their statements more than Axl nutswingers because it does seem disingenuous. If you are just here for the music and like both bands and don't like the controversy...then why not stay out of the thread? There is no existential middle that is going to keep everyone happy. I don't feel that those that espouse a neutral sentiment are more honorable, humble, or more of a decent fan than those that have a passion for a certain position. If they were neutral then then they would just talk about the music and not get involved in the discussion of legal drama.

I'll use a famous quote about Kennedy:

One of President Kennedy's favorite quotations was based upon an interpretation of Dante's Inferno. As Robert Kennedy explained in 1964, "President Kennedy's favorite quote was really from Dante, 'The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality.'" This supposed quotation is not actually in Dante's work, but is based upon a similar one. In the Inferno, Dante and his guide Virgil, on their way to Hell, pass by a group of dead souls outside the entrance to Hell. These individuals, when alive, remained neutral at a time of great moral decision. Virgil explains to Dante that these souls cannot enter either Heaven or Hell because they did not choose one side or another. They are therefore worse than the greatest sinners in Hell because they are repugnant to both God and Satan alike, and have been left to mourn their fate as insignificant beings neither hailed nor cursed in life or death, endlessly travailing below Heaven but outside of Hell. This scene occurs in the third canto of the Inferno.

Look at this headline, it really portrays Slash in negative light and provides no background for Slash's reasoning in things but is summed up as:

"Alas, it would appear the feud between Axl Rose and Slash Hudson is still very much alive."

That's not really neutral to me.

  5. If the rumors are true (and I hope they are), I'd like to thank Slash for finally put a stop to Axl's attempt to erase Slash from GN'R. The "snake in the grass" acquisition of the band name, the Activision lawsuit, encouraging fans to dismiss and deride him, etc. Really despicable to begin with.

It's become apparent the Axl tried for a very long time to make it appear the he = Guns N' Roses. He couldn't do it through a new band. When the new band was gone he couldn't do it through new songs. When the new songs didn't succeed, he couldn't do it through lawsuits. When the lawsuits didn't succeed, Axl toured his way into North and South America with the Chinese Democracy tour. And when didn't succeed, he toured South America. When that didn't succeed, he toured under Appetite for Democracy. And when that didn't work, well I don't know. This will be interesting.

I don't see any reason why he would be touring in his state with the voice and lack of new material. The only semblance of reasoning I get is that maybe he hopes if he tours long enough people will forget about the old band and people will think Axl = GN'R. Really it was a band and Axl was a big part of it but he was never a majority contributor. They were all Guns N' Roses. If Axl doesn't like Slash or the old band then he should probably drop the old music altogether and just do his own thing.

Anyways, Slash if you are reading this, THANK YOU! Can't wait for your next album to drop.

  6. I think you should unlike my post Axl_morris. I don't think you're inferring correctly. Despite the expected proclivity, that was one of the most bizarre leaps of judgement I have ever read.

A guy dies and we should immediately conclude that it means he's guilty of being part of a conspiracy against Axl.

I'm not a GN'R fan. At least I'm "crazy" about GN'R. I'm not saying anything against some of you. I'd have no problem sitting next to you on an airplane. I just hope certain ones aren't flying it.

I'm going back to Anything Goes.

  7. Muse

    John Mayer

    Maroon 5

The Doors (I like their songs but find them nihilistic and depressing over all).

    Nu-GNR

    Taylor Swift

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs (I actually hate them along with a lot of indie bands)

There's probably a lot of other bands I could name if I could remember them but I think I've blocked them out of my mind out pure hatred.
