  1. Could releasing "Silkworms" be part of a settlement with Pitman?

I just thought about this, hear me out....could the release of Absurd and maybe Hardschool be part of some sort of settlement with the previous members, or just a way to give the new band "some time" to test the waters as far as recording goes?!

I could image the whole band to be quite nervous to start recording a new album/songs from scratch now that the core members have built quite big egoes who could step on each others toes at any moment during the creating proces which could lead to another break up of the band. I think the endles touring is the result of that, let's cash as much money before we might start fighting again during the "creative proces"

    Just my 2 cents

around which time did Axl start to change his mind regarding Slash? When – and why! – did he get from "not in this lifetime, he's cancer" to "yeah, that’s what’s actually happening"? When – and what was behind it. Once we figure this out (impossible with almost zero information, as usual), we’ll know much more about the Chinese sequel and why it wasn’t released in 2012 or in 2014 or what the plan was etc.,

    I think in 2014

You're so, so, so, so!!!! repetitive!!!.

The general was finished in late 2007, bumble talked about having recording his parts on the track. It was as finished as any other song on CD.

So straight off you're spouting on about a song that was completed 13yrs ago, saying it was or could still be basically unfinished with no vocal. It's probably being reworked now, but there was 100% a finished version ready to go in 2008 with vocals. Left off because it couldn't fit, nothing to do with quality.

There's not even a question whether it's complete or incomplete (ie vocals) right?

I mean, Axl played the completed song incl. vocals on some after party in sweden right....I mean why is that still being discussed?

  4. Jeez H Chr*st, why the F can't this band just record some shit and put out that CD2 stuff, and get in a room together and make some more music and put thaat out there and tour some more

They have been milking this cow for 5 f'ing years and only just released 2 mediocre songs (I mean, they're nowhere close to WTTJ, PC, YCBM or NR or Estanged, lets be real here)

ffffffackk I need a break from this shit man, with the release of Absurd and Hardschool I got back some hope (at least the released something)....almost daily I visit the boards, but damn, this band has been more than disapointing......

Going back to the mix - what I noticed is the where the vocals are further in the background for the first 2/3s of the song they are then ‘where they should be’ from post-solo onwards….or is it just me? 🤔

Absolutely, thats what puts me of the most, the first impression I get from this "new" song is hmmmm bad mix

I'm in no way an audiophile but, the "thin vocal" anoys the hell out of me

  6. Just heard it once, when someone uploaded it to a facebook group, once I wanted to replay it, the song was gone.

But the first thing I thought is that it almost sounds like someone created the new parts around the existing song, it must have been a really low Quality leak, or its just very poorly mixed.

For example the new middle (slow) part where slash slows done you can still hear Axl sing the Hey Hey, but just very faint, I really hope the actual song is not this, because it sounded bad, very poor mix

  7. I think releasing Silkworms/Absurd is THE wayto generate a buzz for a new album

This must be thought out, they played it a couple of nights ago, some media picked it up, like Blabbermouth, now a couple of days later this release, and this will generate alot more buzz

We don't know if this is an actual single or just song released, like a lot of bands do nowadays, to follow with an actual single/videoclip and maybe even an album announcement ?

  8. First of all I get why alot of fans don't like it.....

But think about it, this THE song to generate a buzz (for a new album?) I mean, the lyrics are as controversial as they can be, Axl sounds different with this englisch accent, I can imagine the press being al over this.....

This is al that all they need, to come with a proper single and album press release (soon), or am I thinking to possitive ?

  9. Maybe playing Silkworms/Absurd is the easiest and cheapest ways to generate a buzz for an actual new album.

I mean. they can play Atlas, Hard Skool and the General, but If they consider those songs big guns, why not create some buzz and headlines with a throwaway song to get everyones attention and without giving away too much right away.

    Just my 2 cents :slash:

How do you hold streams? :)

What worries me is it doesn't make sense to drop a new album then leave the United States to go tour Europe. No offense to Europe. But seems like the band would align a new record with a new North American tour. Or do bands usually wait for the record to get out there and get airplay? I don't know.

From what I remember from other "big" bands it's not an uncommon thing to tour other continents first, it also depends on the scedule, for example, the festival season in Europe is not a thing a lot of bands want to skip
