Saw them live last years and they were amazing. Their last bluray (Live at Royal Albert Hall) is just incredible

They sound great there, but isn't the orchestra burried too much in the mix ? (if you compare this to S&Metallica)

  2. I could not find a topic about these guys so I created this one.

For me one of the best bands that came out of the 90's, Myles Kennedy I widely known on the boards, but this band.....I will let the music do the talking :

  3. I was a bit dissapointed when the singles came out, but have been listening for a couple of hours now, I think i'm on my 4th or 5th spin, and the record overall really surprised me.

    • Call of The Wild starts the album of strong, love the breakdown just before the solo, steady rock song
    • Serve you Right is an OK rock song, the song doesnt do much for me exept the solo/riffing in the ending
    • My Antidote, I love the cruchy sound of the guitar(s) and a solid track overal
    • Mind Your Manners, for me just an average track and I'm already skipping it
    • Lost inside the Girl, a creepy song and a slower pace than the songs before, a nice break from the faster tracks, the longest track on the album, could be a little shorter
    • Read Between, starts a faster paced Rocker, an ok song but the backup vocal singing "common common read between the lines" annoyed me on the first listen already
    • Slow Grind, I like the riff on this one
    • The One You Loved, beautifull ballad (could be a radio single) great solo's by Slash (love this song, sorry i'm a sucker for ballads)
    • Driving Rain, might be my least faforite track on the album, although the solo is nice
    • Sugar Cane, As some have said a Sexy Riff, but the track doesn't do much for me
    • The Great Pretender, as some already said, sounds a little like a Gary Moore track, the riff/lick sounds really nice, dark track, the sound of Slashs guitar is as good as it gets
    • Boulevard of Broken Hearts,  another great song can't say anything bad about it

Overal an 8/10 for me, My Antidote, Slow Grind, The One You Loved, Great Pretender and Boulevard Of Broken Hearts are the standout tracks

If you want a good impression of this album....listen to these 5 songs

  4. Really enjoyed the show, don't if it was better than last year in Nijmegen but that's a hard one to beat since it was the first time seeing Axl, Slash and Duff on a stage together, But Axl really gave it his all, Slash was on top of his playing although I enjoyed his solo's a bit more last year.

Glad to see This I Love and Civil War on youtube since I was getting drinks during these songs (man what a hastle :/ )

Anyone know or heard about an audio recording already ?

  5. Have listened to the new album a couple times now but have not made my mind up yet, Sirens is a real nice song (although I don't really get the comparison to Black)

I'll give it a couple more spins before I make up my mind, but I don't think it will come in my top3 PJ albums

  6. I must say the new album grows on me with every listen, and as previously mentioned Fortres and Cry of Achilles really stand out as tracks, although they both don't top Blackbird (the song)

  7. Even if Axl doesn't release anything further from now, I hope he puts lyrics on al the unreleased songs, and oneday the faults open and we get 2 boxset 1 from the 87 - 94 era and one from the 1997 - 20?? era

Unfortunately this probably will only happen if something happens to Axl and we probably can't image what kind of legal Sh*t might have to be solved before any release (with all people involved with GNR/Axl)

Might take literay another 50 years before we hear most of the recordings <_<

  8. It all depends, on DJ still being in GNR next year (for all we know whe might have a whole new set of guitar heroes fronting our beloved GNR)

*Zakk Wylde, John5 and Mark Tremonti the new guitar front of GNR 2014 !!! :headbang: *

Come see us on our greatest hits tour where we will play a song we have NOT played at our greatest hits tour of last year :axl:

A$ba could still work for GNR as the clothing manager (maybe all GNR members can be emo rockers with the same style

Bumblefoot can work as the catherer and serve every meal with a different hot sauce - and become the sponsor of the greatest hits tour untill the end of 2020 (and Axl retires)

Fortu$$ can become the guitar tech - and start tattooing al the guys in the band (and finally give the guys some proper ink)

  9. I think he left because he didnt know if CD was ever comming out at all, although he didn't reach the audience he could have if he stayed.

I'm not sure. I mean, has GnR really grown that much since 2004? Would he really have gained so many fans. I really don't believe so. GnR's fanbase hasn't expanded much at all since then imo. And that's no wonder, when you release just one album in 15 years and don't promote anything. I think Buckethead had absolutely nothing to gain staying with GnR.

I'm not sure what you meant by growing, I think the public perception of GNR has changed since they've put out a record and toured for a couple of years.

But when bucket left they only toured a small part of the world, If he toured the world a couple of times (like Bumble has in his place) I think he would've gained alot of attention, by his playing but ofcourse also by his looks...I think by now he would've gained alot more fans (but I'm not sure if that's something he wanted)

  10. I don't think that Atlas not being on CD means it is a worse song than some of the stuff on there.

Do you really think Axl would onleash al his big guns on 1 cd if there was a plan to make it a double album or even a trilogie ?

Don't cry was held back as well as other hits (during the recording of Appetite)

Atlas probably is a big gun or just didn't fit in the flow of the album, and therefore being held back for a future release.

  11. I think Axl just likes DJ's sound/work he's done in those bands, I don't think mr Rose has been investigating the number of sales he had in those bands...

Sixx AM (with 2 albums) has probably sold more than Buckethead (+40 records), the also had more songs in the rockcharts than the Buck, does that make him better ?

just saying, who cares about the sales

  12. It would be a nice platform to release Silkworms, and a nice way to throw the hardcore fans a bone without the need to release it on a follow up album (and get the critical reviews of the "quality of the song"), since a lot of people think it doesnt live up tot the rest of their catalog.
