That time when we got first news and clips about the Hammerstein shows was magical. The band was on fire, Axl was fit and ready to kick some ass, and he truly did there. I truly hope there are some pro quality recordings of those shows somewhere in Axl's vault.

I have just received (today, November 8) an email from GNR's uk store announcing that the release date for the Perhaps 7" I ordered has been delayed and it's now scheduled for December 8. They could have waited a little more before sending the email. 😂
I just got the same mail too. I also laughed about the fact that they informed about the delay over a week after the initial release date.

A new tour in 2024/25 sounds logical to me. Their tours have been successful enough so far so I don't see why they would suddenly stop. I'm still waiting a proper release of Atlas next year because that gem deserves it.

If anything this is proof Slash could've easily integrated himself into Axl's industrial vision in the mid 90s and it would have worked. They could have just played nice and done an "Axl side" and "Slash side" in 1996 or 1997 and it would've been an interesting and worthwhile album.
Goddamn this would have been amazing. Something for everybody.

i would love to have heard the intro to the general be a little heavier, same riff just deeper, with some "When the levy breaks" sounding drums instead of a pro-tools drum machine.
I feel the same way 110%. Even though I like the song already this would add a bit more organic feel to it and it could make the song sound even heavier.

So what's the story here? Did someone put these out in retaliation due to the delay ?
That's what I've been thinking about too. Thank you to whoever did it.

Do we dare to dream of an album again?
Absurd, Hard Skool, Perhaps, The General, Monsters. Add Atlas Shrugged, State of Grace and we're almost there.
Duff and Slash have probably reworked more songs.
Except turds like Absurd and Hard Skool can be easily dropped out of that list. But the rest are nice, add 4-6 unheard songs to that list (which I think still exist) and we would have a nice new album.

It's so crazy that we finally have these songs out, to me it adds to the myth of CD II (and maybe even part III). We have heard so many stories, so many song titles over the years, hell its been decades now.. Its times like these when you realize how crazy its to be a fan of this band.
But I still somehow love it. As long as they aren't keeping this material buried.

Before the thread got taken down on Reddit, Fernando commented this "It was held back due to the very bad quality of the vinyl we first received and we finally got it to the right spot."
If you look on his profile the comment is still there. I'm guessing what we are hearing is rips of these poor quality vinyls that have been rejected
Oh jesus christ.. Why can't they just release these digitally? But all in all its good to know there will be better quality versions out.

Axl seemed to save the rasp for a little bit here, had some voice cracking moments too (for instance at the end of Maddy). But I still admire him for doing these marathon shows at this point of his career. I just hope his voice stays ok in the future.

That is crazy that he hangs around the venue for 5 1/2 hours after the show, I wonder what he does, most major artists nowadays have a car waiting for them the second the show is over and get in that car and leave before the masses exit the venue, for him to hang around that long is crazy especially cuz I assume the days of after show parties is over
I bet he's having a party: https://www.instagram.com/p/CwGgHn-rZT5/
... or then he's meditating and doing some yoga, who knows?

Atlas has also been one of my favorite leaks after CD got released. I've always loved the part "I’ll be the last to say don’t follow your heart, there’s more to what it takes to be a man." To me this song has the same feel to it than CITR for instance.

"And I like to think of when we wrote this song it was like the immaculate inception, ha-ha-ha-ha." Axl on Perhaps.

Can't wait for this release, really hoping for a beast of a song as has been anticipated for years. Am I right in thinking the intro for the shows way back in like 2006 etc was meant to be from The General? Also, do we think there is any chance State of Grace could be The General? I just find it so strange that from all those village leaks that The General wasn't included... Perhaps under a different title?
When I was listening to the The General clip from that Vienna afterparty 2010, it's clear that The General is a different song. Even more heavier than State of Grace it feels like. It will be interesting to see how Slash has redone those guitar parts that are partly audible in that Vienna clip.
But I gotta agree that it's interesting that The General wasn't in those Village Leaks.
EDIT: Went and listened to that 2006 intro from youtube clips and jesus, I didn't remember that sounding so cinematic. IF this truly is the intro The General it will be EPIC.

Had to order the 7" vinyl also, nice to get a song from ChiDem era that hasn't been fully leaked yet.

To me both Hard Skool and Absurd really felt like b-sides, not proper singles. But Perhaps feels more like a proper GN'R song to me. I admit that it's not a total banger, and it still kinda has that "ChiDem b-sides" feel to it, but I would much rather hear this live than Hard Skool or Absurd. Luckily now it's a real possibility that we will hear Perhaps live soon.

I've been a fan of GN'R since 2004 so I've seen how bad the management of this band has been through the years. But it STILL amazes me how the management team doesn't know how to do things correctly when it comes to A) marketing new releases B) creating hype etc... To me it seems like all the effort has been put into getting more tour dates and re-releasing the classic albums. But now when UYI albums have been re-released you would think that there has to be some new stuff coming up with proper marketing etc.. but no. It's still the same old thing with leaks and stuff.
I have to admit that back in the day the leaks were exciting because you really didn't know when CD was going to be released. Nowadays its just sad to see how one of the biggest rock bands in the world still can't get new releases properly marketed. Look for example how Metallica does their marketing, that's how you do things professionally, not like bunch of amateurs.
I mean, just release the song properly, how hard can it be? /End of rant.

Great review! I had to post here after a long break because I've been quite mesmerized by this Ritz release. It's great to watch how laid back everybody is on the stage here. They must have realized how legendary this gig is in the band's history so they definitely did justice to the material. The quality is amazing, I'm so glad that they finally released this. Just makes me wonder what other great shows with pristine quality they still have in the vault.

Well that was amazing!! A proof that the alt setlist isn't just a joke, it's there for a reason.
Props to Axl for being able to sing this live, in some ways Locomotive reminds me of Coma because there's not much breathing space between the lines during the verse for instance.
Also, nice to see they trimmed the setlist. If somebody had shown me this setlist about 10 years ago (and told me Duff & Slash would be back in the band) I would have just laughed

Maybe it's time for some Hardschool tonight, Locomotive would be great too

At first this one seemed kinda strange song to me but the more I have listened to it the more I'm liking it. The part which starts "I'll be the last to say..." is probably my favorite part of the song (plus the melodic intro). The vocal melodies remind me of Catcher for instance. It could be interesting to hear a fully mixed & mastered version of this with Slash & Duff!

I got my tickets!! I missed the 2010 show when GNR was in Finland and back then I thought it was my last chance, but luckily I got a new one!

Steven's playing sounds better now than on previous gigs, and of course his smile is irresistible!

Come on Axl, don't injure yourself AGAIN!!

Well this sums it up for me, I agree 110%. Unfortunately the situation with Beta, Axl and the whole TB family is so messed up that I'm afraid this won't happen and Fernando continues. The situation makes me feel sick.
