  1. This song is just plain bad and no amount of mixing can fix that.  Unfortunately, it looks like GnR have no creativity left.  I find it hard to believe that we are going on almost eight years since they reunited and all they can do is rehash songs that were not good enough to release 16 years ago.  I would have thought some new tunes would have been written and released by now.  I hate to say it but it is getting time to retire.

TBH in the space of a year, he's become by the most approachable and keen to greet the fans and be kind of any of the band, by far! Has Beta changed his meds or something? It's really a beautiful thing...

That’s fantastic, congratulations.  Heck of a wait but it was worth it.

  3. After all the issues and delays we finally got CD in 2008.  I really thought this may spark a follow up as we have been promised by every one of the revolving band members. It is now 15 years after CD.  So hard to believe they have wasted so many good years.  I know this is a nostalgia act now, but it is so disappointing that Axl has no creativity left and no interest in creating.

You’re either too young to have remembered those years, or you have allowed the media narrative to rewrite history.  GNR were not seen as “outdated” or “hair metal” when Illusions released. Grunge music didn’t put them out of business. Those records were a monstrous success. GNR were all over the airwaves in 1992. And they were on one of the biggest, longest, and most successful world tours.

People LOVED those music videos, btw. “November Rain” is iconic.

You can look back now and say you wish UYI had more of an AFD style in production. I sure do. ‘Cause it does sound like two records made in the early ‘90s vs. the raw sound of Appetite, which is timeless.

Look at Metallica’s trajectory and career peaks and valleys to see how GNR would have likely been viewed had they continued to put out music and remained active. GNR’s 1999 Chinese Democracy would have been grungier or more nu-metalish than what we ultimately ended up with. And people would have said they “sold out’ their classic sound to chase trends or whatever. Same with Metallica with Load and Reload

TLDR: It wasn’t over for GNR in 1993. They went on hiatus and then broke up. Time didn’t pass them by when Axl was just 30 years old. What a load of garbage.

I completely agree.  GnR never fit the hair band label and we’re still going strong.  The only thing that killed them was themselves.

  5. Some days I really wonder why I keep checking this forum.  I can’t understand how or why people get so worked up over someone’s opinion.  As fans of GnR, a constant state of disappointment is pretty normal.  We have had some cool things happen these last 5 years.  Unfortunately it is also pretty evident that new music is nowhere close.  If reworked silkworms is the best they can do and as Slash stated that no new music has been created, it’s pretty obvious what is going to happen in the future.  With that said, we can also be happy to have had a successful tour, a couple new songs, a box set etc.   Chill out and enjoy what we do have because at 60, there isn’t much time left.

  6. I truly was excited to have them finally play a “new song”.  Although I hate Absurd, Hard Skool is a decent track.  I have the other leaks and only thought HS was worthy of releasing.  I hope I’m wrong and that there is some great stuff in the works, but at this point I am not real hopeful.   I was really hoping this reunion and reconnection with Slash and Duff would have really sparked some creative juices.  For Slash to say they have wasted another 5 years and haven’t written anything new pretty much extinguished any hope of new music.  Sure we may get a few CD leftovers, but this news makes me think there isn’t much left in the tank.

  7. Releasing singles is definitely the way to go at this point.   That’s what’s frustrating about past comments from Fernando that they were trying to figure out the best way.  It’s easy today. You don’t need any record deals, Best Buy deals or any of that crap.  Write a song, record it and release it.  Sadly, no one is waiting in line at midnight to buy an album anymore.  With that said, I do hope they release a full album and in contains some new songs recently written.  It’s better late than never.  I still want more, but I’m glad to finally see things going in the right direction.

  8. I’m a huge GnR fan and have always thought Axl was the star of the show as it’s almost impossible to replace a unique lead singer.  However, it’s very apparent that slash is just as important.   His playing and stage presence are unbelievable.  As a duo or trio with Duff there is a uniqueness that just feels right.  This is what should of happened many years ago.  Slash has also now risen to mythical status and complements Axl perfectly.

That never stopped them before. We were at Rock on the Range in Columbus in 2014 and the stadium was more than half empty by the time the encore started because it was cold and rainy all day and he played over 3 hours. They did a full set at Louder Than Life in Louisville in 2019 as well. I'd expect the full show unless there's a hard curfew.

I was at that show.  The band and Axl sounded great but they dragged it out way too long and people started leaving in droves.  He had a really excited audience for a bit, but totally lost them with all the solos, covers and extended songs

  10. I went to a 2002 show in Columbus.  I was very disappointed with his voice.  He was full Micky and we couldn’t believe what he looked and sounded like. Such a drastic change in a short amount of time.  Even so, we were excited as it looked like they were finally going to release this album we’ve been teased with for years.  Would of never guessed it would all derail and it would be another 6 years.
