In the tour proper I feel like Richard will probably get a solo spot. Between that and the CD songs he'll have plenty of places to shine. There is absolutely no reason for anybody but Slash to play the role of Slash. Richard is both a professional and a great rhythm player so he'll do the job he needs to do. Apparently him, Slash, and Duff did quite the jam in Rocket Queen and the two traded licks in KOHD. I guess we'll know more from the Vegas shows. Stuff like that is fine and I really like the idea of Slash and Richard being in the same band, but again, I'm sure Slash can play his own solos just fine.

Frank sounded fine in the clips save for the flub in Jungle which seemed to be a mixture of a missed cue and Axl not doing the full "You're in the jungle baby..." before Slash started the riff. He had already fixed it by the second bar.

Can somebody explain to my what exactly Frank did wrong at the beginning of jungle? Because when I listen to Slashs intro riff, Frank comes in at the right moment but I'm not an expert. Also something must have been wrong, otherwise slash wouldn't have looked that way :P

So well the lineup has been confirmed.

I got no problem with Fortus, but I want this to sound like the old GNR and not the NuGNR, I don't want Fortus to play NR Solo or KOHD or YCBM. I just want Fortus to play what Izzy and Gilby did.

No dividing of solo's, he should just stick to Rhythm. I hope Pitman is far from this. I do hope to see Steven and Matt for a few shows.

Seeing Izzy and Stevens name up there is kinda hurting me cause really they deserve to be up there.

I honestly doubt that Richard is going to play any of Slashs solos when Slash is there. Maybe if they play some CD songs he will play the solo, but thats ok with me.

I wish people would stop pulling stuff out of the air. No one has said they're fighting. Just that Izzy's not involved. We don't know why.

I don't know whether they're fighting or not, that's why there's an question mark after my sentence.

But you're right. It's just a guess that their fighting and I shouldn't have worded it that way, it's pure speculation.

  4. Paul Tobias is the absolute most embarrassing thing that ever happened to GNR.

On one hand, you have Slash, an icon who earned that title.

And then Axl makes a demand of Slash: this guy Pula Toblias is your equal, Salsh. He will write your music. You must seek his approval and collaboration.

Now imagine if Axl made that demand now, what with Axl being a fat whale who can't sing and Plua Toblias having become a complete absolute zero in the world of music.

Thats such a bullshit and you know it.

Axl brought in Paul Tobias to complement Slash as a guitar player. It was always clear that slash is the main and the lead guitarist in the band. Paul was more of a quiet, in-the-backround kind of guy (just like Izzy). It didn't work out with people like zakk wylde because they were too dominant in their playing.

GNR broke up because Axl and Slash didn't get along anymore. It's not the fault of any of the new guys that were brought in. But whatever.

I'm so happy that Axl and Slash are on good terms now and that Slash and Duff are back in Guns N' fuckin' Roses! This is the best thing that could have happend now and NuGNR was basically dead on the creativ level anyway. But I'm so tired of people complaining about the guys in NuGNR, like it was their fault that they were so unproductive or that the old band broke up. They got hired and of course they would take the gig, why not?

But now that Slash and Duff are back, I'm really looking forward to great shows and hopefully a new album. The guitar duo of Slash and Fortus seems really kick-ass to me.

  5. As far as the music writing goes Axl didn't get heavily involved until after UYI and after the tour. He learned rhythm guitar and started working on the music aspect here, where as before his music writing was primarily involved in piano songs.

He did a big part of the lyrics and melody however, I think any of the old members would gladly say Axl was vital to the music as a whole.

I think we can all agree that whatever their formula for getting songs together was working.

I did like Axl saying at the last residency that Izzy contributed one lyric to WTTJ and it was "Jungle"

Are you sure about that? I don't remember that one. The only one I can recall is that before playing a song, Axl said Izzy only wrote one line in this next song ... Out ta Get Me.

Maybe it's an on going joke. I'll find the video.

I did stumble upon this one from 2006...kinda rare to see a video shot from the front row in 2006 and how cool does Axl look here with just t shirt and jeans..awesome times

Ps: how do you get the video to show up as a video and not a link?

It was at the O2 show in London that leaked. He said it after Used to love her.

    It's at 1:51:30

  6. Why would anyone want a hack like Fortus over Gilby Clarke?

    Man I hope you're kidding..

No I'm not. Fortus is a reminder to Slash etc of the hideous 'nugnr' era. He is inherently an 'Axl man'. If you are doing a reunion then do it right and sweep away the garbage hack era. Gilby recorded a studio album and was chosen by Slash. He toured with the old band behind one of the old band's albums so therefore at least carries a connection with that era.

yeah, but Slash also wanted Fortus for his band
