Went to Tommy's show last night in Buffalo. During his first song of the night "One Man Mutiny" he changed one of the lyrics, "So you had to go and join Ac/Dc"

After the song he was really stoked while talking about it. Could not hold back his excitement, and said how proud of Axl he was

Talked to him for a quick minute after the show, and he said he was watching it in a bar the night before!

Nothing crazy exciting, but figured i'd mention it! Very cool of him to talk GN'R!

lol the so called punk rocker, alternative musician love AC/DC?

    Good for him

I was under the impression the lead singer situation in AC/DC is still in no man's land... and that Axl is nothing more than a guest singer for the rest of the tour for now (and potentially for future tours), with Brian Johnson still the technical lead singer of the band, and main collaborator relating to at least any "studio recordings" (see link).

From what source do we derive information that Axl is anything more than a guest singer (i.e. that there's a real interest on AC/DC's part for studio collaboration together)?

Did you ever consider getting a number of different guest vocalists?
Angus: “To be honest with you, it was a case of ‘what do we do?’”
Axl: “They were in the process of trying to decide what they were doing as a band in general, is my understanding, because it just went down.”
Angus: “It was a crisis that came then, and we had to act. We were in Miami at the time, when all of this came up, and unfortunately, when you’re in that situation you got to make decisions pretty quick, because there are a lot of people waiting. We were supposed to actually play in Atlanta, so you’re kind of going ‘what do we do now’. Because of the nature of Brian’s deafness, we knew that there was no easy fix. So you’ve got to then say, ‘what do we do here?’ The options were very limited and you think, if we just stop with all of this machinery it’s going to be a hell of a lot of legal entanglement…”
Axl: “That, and the fans, and not wanting the band to have to go through that, as I have gone through a little bit of that at times!”
Angus: “It was good that he offered, y’know. He said, if I can do it…”
Axl: “Which I had no idea, I mean, they play really loud, they have their way of working and you never know if you’re going to blend. But it started out pretty good and its gradually got better. I’m hoping to make it through the first show before I get fired!”

So what happens after these shows – does the band continue in this format? Do you get another singer? Does Brian come back?
Axl: “Whatever they’re doing with Brian, that’s not my place to talk, that’s their business. Anybody else, I will slowly poison them!”

What’s his prognosis – is he able to rejoin in the future?
Angus: “He has to be very careful of what hearing he’s got left. This is what he told us - he was gutted about not finishing [the tour] because he says he would have loved to have gotten through. It was his call, what he wanted. He made that decision himself. He didn’t want to be deaf. And I perfectly understand that – when you stop doing this, you want to walk away with all your pieces! I don’t even want to leave without my fingernail!”

Did you speak to Brian at all for advice before joining the band?
Axl: “No, I have not spoken with Brian, only because we haven’t spoken much about Brian. There hasn’t been any negative talk with the guys or anything, it’s just the time schedule of having to get things together for the shows, while also I had Guns N’ Roses commitments and then breaking the foot. The day I found out it was broken I left the hospital to rehearse. My only day off was the surgery day and the next day was back to rehearsals.”

Is it true you auditioned a singer from an AC/DC tribute band to front the group for these dates?
Angus: “A lot of people were putting people forward. You know, you’ve got to be fair, you’ve got to listen to anyone who said something, you listen to them. You’ve got to do the right thing.”

What’s the latest with Phil [Rudd, former drummer who was arrested for threatening to kill a former employee last year]?
Angus: “Phil I haven’t heard from. He’s been very quiet of late.”
Axl: “I’ve talked to him about these other singers, though!”

For what it's worth, it is apparent that Axl himself is acutely aware of this. He's even willing to poke some fun at himself on this matter - notice how he jokingly compared the size of AC/DC's stack of albums to his own, in one of the recent video interviews with Angus and Cliff.

We can only speculate what the real barriers are in relation to him not releasing new music. In the BBC interview, Axl did allude to how difficult record companies have made it for bands. While this may not be a problem for most bands, this definitely seems to be a problem for Axl. Further, the circumstances around the release of Chinese Democracy, don't seem to have been entirely satisfactory to Axl, and we may never know what they were. It does seem though that they prevented Axl from releasing or wanting to release the rest of the songs he worked on.

Personally, I don't think monetary success through album sales or pushing album numbers matters as much to Axl - seeing as how he's consistently showed a pattern of perfectionism in many of his activities, it seems that putting out a 'perfect' album or something that is worthy of GN'R's catalogue in his eyes is what matters to him. Of course, perfectionism doesn't mean that you get everything perfect - it can be a vicious affliction that mucks up all your best intentions and your most cherished ventures. Perhaps it constantly bedevils Axl.

If anything, I do think that there is a bright spot and that Axl doesn't seem to entirely dislike making new music. He just seems to have a whole lot more personal and other constraints around releasing new music. I do hope that most of those constraints that remain are mental, rather than contractual, or historical.  If anything, he seems to be happier and in a better place these days and many different things must have contributed to this situation. If that continues to be the case. let's hope that Axl decides to put out the music he made or wants to make, out there for us to hear.

    Good thoughts

Before the BBC interview with Angus and Axl, i thought we've got a stronger chance than ever to hear new music from him with GNR.

After the interview, i got the impression that he is much more happy with a "new" band, than his own band and he is willing to stay with them on the long term and occasionaly do tour legs with GNR without any new music.... In fact, i think we will hear a new AC/DC record with Axl on board sooner than we hear a new GNR record with Axl, Slash, Duff

  4. he shouldn't wear any hats, that's the only laughable stage outfit that he still wears, it's almost as worse as his mustache was, thank god, he shaved it off

    Bandanas are OK,though

but at the end of the day he wears what he wants, i don't care too much because my oonly concern is his voice

Ok so i will go to their show in Werchter belgium, i will have myself a ride to get there but i have no idea how to get back XD 140 km away and no money for a hotel or train back once i book the show :P this is going to be an adventure!! but it'll be worth it

Do what i did in 2010 to Vienna

Enjoy the show and hitchhike back, from what i can tell Netherlands and Belgium are very hitch friendly

If you're lucky, you are home around 10 AM. 140 km is not much. I did approximately 600 km on a single day a few years back

Incorrect. I went to 3 gigs in that time period and and 4 between 2006 and 2010 they were all awesome. Don't talk shit. Jut because the 90s rasp isn't present at every step of the way doesn't mean a gig is shit.

    lol

    good for you i guess

I haven't seen Axl since 2010 because i'm not gonna  pay money for a half assed show

Now he is back and the 2016 shows were good so far and this AC/DC gig was stellar so far so i'm trying to catch the Vienna AC/DC gig plus the GNR gig whenever they come here

Yeah, maybe. But why didn't his voice pick back up again when sining other covers back in 2011-2014, then, like that neil Young cover? Surely those new covers, by also not being Gn'R songs, wouyuld have the sam einvirogating effect on him? To me, it sounds more plausible AC/Dc songs just fit him better :shrugs:

Please stop with your nonsense bullshit logical twists

    thank you

2011-2014 was shit except 2 times: 2012 Philly, and 2014 vegas shows

case closed and your argument is invalid

His voice on Riff Raff and Rosie has been about the same as in 2011-2014, strongly suggesting this has nothing to do with phoning anything in but just being better at AC/DC songs. Because if he was phoning it in back in 2011-2014 one would expect those two songs to not be very good, too. So either he just bursts with enthusiasm when a non-GN'R song enters the set or these songs fits his voice better.

    Clean your ears bro

  9. It's nice to see that Axl actually talks in a very casual mood about "working on some more euro tour dates" so he is not answering by some cryptic bullshit way:headbang:

He looks more healthy, his speech is much more consistent than any recent interviews

(Don't get me started on a the "cracking jokes, and good mood" thing )

I like how Axl takes the time to speak to fans even if he's in a hurry.  At first I thought it was just whenever a pretty girl was around but when I talked to him in 2010, well, I'm no pretty girl, yet he seemed to be there and have a conversation for the longest time ever.

I bet my fellow European bothers and sisters are excited.  My ex girlfriend who is a massive hardcore GN'R fan lives in Italy.  Her little bother died in a motorcycle accident last month, I know she's going to love this.  I hope she gets to meet Axl, Slash and Duff.

I've been here for years, but this is the first time i've heard that you've met and talked with the man...

    I envy you

  10. I'm in now way care about this issue, but

Some of these are either anti gay propaganda or just simply funny as fuck

P.S.: I do not support radical feminism/liberalism, but making a thread about this issue only give them popularity so congrats, lol

Btw nobody forced you or anybody to watch disney movies, plenty of other great cartoon stuff for little kids out there... Disney is shit since the early 00's so....

I hope you don't mind blatant racist cartoons, though
