I tried messing around with the audio of this, my aim was to take a lot of the mud away and make the vocals a bit clearer. don't know if it sounds better per say but it's clearer.

This is definitely Axl Rose, because in some twisted way i can hear the high pitched Mickey out from his voice, but this is different than ANYTHING we heard from Axl since the early 00's... it's like Mickey eat some of Popeye's spinach and go and to belt out like he's got razors in his throat, i'm not lying, i think a LOT of parts sounded like 1980 Brian Johnson here on a 1990 AC/DC song mixed with an 1993 Axl....

I have a feeling that we will see some rock history and Axl's best moments since the 90's when youtube videos going to pop up fom these shows

Maybe it's been there for a while, but he was too afraid of using. I really think he lost for a while it after 2010, and had been scared of using it since then. Since this is a massive year and all eyes are on him, maybe he chose to go balls to wall with whatever he has left and deal with the consequences if they come.

yup, that's my take on this one too....

But he obviously care more about the AC/DC gig, because

    1)  It's his favourite band since the late 70's and he will give literally EVERYTHING that's left in him, he is like a kid in a candystore, it's a dream come true for him

    2)  He finally has a situation where he can prove himself outside of his playing field

    3)  Maybe he thought this is a cool idea, reunite with Slash and Duff, PLUS do this gig= Victory or Die

    4)  after all the mickey years, he STILL got this voice? fuck me.... maybe he have more fun with AC/DC songs rather than singing his "own" songs for the gazillionth time

Are you truly this obtuse? (You might want to look that word up in the dictionary, since I'm guessing, from your post ^^, your reading comprehension skills aren't too advanced).

My post was responding to someone who claimed he went to see the GNR reunion show to see Fortus. I simply pointed out that anyone who went to see a GNR reunion show to see Fortus wasn't likely a longtime diehard GNR fan - that they were more likely a Fortus fan.

Ditto for AC/DC. If a longtime AC/DC fan wants to see the band in concert, it's pretty obvious their first choice would be to see the band's lead singer - not another singer. This doesn't mean there's anything "wrong" with Axl singing for AC/DC nor does it suggest in any way that he wouldn't do a great job. In fact, I'm certain Axl will sound great. But I would bet most Axl/GNR fans would enjoy seeing Axl fronting AC/DC more than the diehard AC/DC fans would.

Yes, i'm really this "obtuse", because you are clearly came back to stir up some shit. Seriously, your point could have been a valid point if it's not coming from you. My reading comprehension skills are fine, my grammar sucks, but that doesn't mean that i cannot call you out on your bullshit

If you can't have the band's lead singer you can always ask for a refund. It's not a big deal

    Thank you.

    Well said.

If you're buying tickets to a GNR reunion show just to see Richard Fortus, then clearly you're not a longtime diehard GNR fan - you're just a Fortus fan.

It's similar to the people who are going to see AC/DC this year - the hardcore AC/DC fans would not be buying tickets to see Axl Rose singing lead. Only the Axl Fans would be buying tickets solely to see Axl at the helm.

and what is your problem with that? why do you care?

I don't think that it's the main criteria to go to the show that you have to be a long time die hard fan. have you ever heard about time? have you ever heard about generations? have you ever heard about different musical taste?

Seriously, it's funny that you single out how bad if somebody go to an AC/DC show with Axl on the mic after YEARS sucking him and being his number one fan, lol

My ears and eyes tell me different. I have never seen Slash struggle so consistently to play his own solos.. Not with Izzy.. or Gilby.. or Frank.. Or Bobby.. or Ryan.. or Kelli..

maybe Slash suck more these days? I've seen a few people complaining about HIM and mentioned that with his own band he played the Guns songs much beter than with current GNR. Maybe the main problem isn't the rhythm player, but Slash just suck sometimes?

Maybe his heart was not in it, because he knows that this is a cash grab?

maybe he doesn't give a shit anymore, because money is good?

Maybe Slash is not the prince you wanted him to be?

maybe you don't like 4tus "louder" guitar, because you used to Izzy's non existent guitar sounds from the 90's? (He was inaudible at the 91 shows) and you don't appreciate that you now hear the other guitarist besides Slash?

if you can address this last point then we could talk about who got ears to music and who doesn't

I'm not going to take a second hand facebook post by Fortus as gospel that that is what happened.

It isn't his two lame solos fucking Slash up.. It is Foreskin's annoyingly high volume, the way he changes some of the rhythms around so they don't mesh, him soloing over Slash in Rocket Queen, him playing Slash's lead fills at the same time and throwing things off instead of just sticking to rhythm.. He isn't solely to blame.. The tempos and Franks fucked up drumming contributes too. It is just straight up awkward at times and there is no chemistry.. It is all forced together and anyone with a musical ear can hear it.

You can call him any stupid names you want, but you went to the show, paid the outrageous ticket price and still have complaints?

I would say the joke is on you if you truly hate this guy yet going to the show to watch him "  changes some of the rhythms around so they don't mesh, him soloing over Slash in Rocket Queen, him playing Slash's lead fills at the same time and throwing things off instead of just sticking to rhythm.."

    fucking lol at you

He is a hired gun and has contributed zero to Gn'R's legacy. I don't care how great he is at rhythm, him and Slash have no chemistry. It almost seems like Slash is going to have to relearn his own fucking songs to make it work with this fool. He may be a great guitarist but he doesn't play the role of rhythm very well. He is a show boat and his ego won't let him revert to playing the songs they were meant to be played when Slash and Duff wrote them. If you believe he is the best guitar player Slash has played with, that is fine but Slash has never had less chemistry with someone and it shows. Slash was at the top of his game before this tour. Now it looks like he stepped back 30 years half the time between Franks fucked up drumming, fast tempos, Richard's overly loud guitars, constant showboating and manipulation of classic guitar rhythms.

I think he is a hired hand but let's not blame him for Slash's mistakes... and their guitar duet proves you wrong. Plus Slash wanted him on HIS OWN band, man

That being said, i don't agree with ITW on the "best rhythm player Slash ever worked with)

Okay, we get it, you want Izzy and Steven back, but let's not blame somebody for a thing where he is innocent

ego? he is been in this band for 14 years, yet he doesn't come off as an egomaniac... Slash on the other hand... he lost this band 20 years ago, because he thought that Axl wouldn't carry on without him and he was proven wrong. End of story. What you posted is pure nonsense and butthurt

Nothing but conjecture. Axl held the keys to releasing new music, it was just a matter of him getting in the mode for it, which has always been the case and probably always will. Suddenly he could have entered a more productive phase and a record would have come out, somewhere somehow. You just got to accept his long-cycle productivity swings. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't waiting for a new record anytime soon, but I consider the probability of a new record in year X even lower now that he has gone into complete nostalgia mode.

and the recod label is the lock

Do you think that tweet in 2010 before Reading (which is 6 years ago and is a minor thing in the scheme of things now) could be deleted because Axl changed his mind? He had contractual obligations, for fucks sake (and no, this is not the 90's anymore where he could shit all over the record labels/promoters head and they would thank him for it) so therefore he must obey or fuck off from his main source of income and his main source for ocassionaly creative mindset:shrugs:

I don't have to accept anything anymore, because i've been following this band since 2004 (more closely since 2006) seen the sorry ass state of this band from 2011 onwards and thought that this wil be an endless GH tour with a shit Axl voice. He is somewhat already proved me wrong, so...

give up, man, you're wrong on this one...

Axl owns the GNR name, Slash and Duff are in the partnership, but at the end of the day the record label owns Axl, Slash, Duff/GNR etc

P.S.: i like when madison was proved to be wrong (particulalry by factually correct posts from you) yet she comes back for more just to stir some shit up, it's hilarious

I love you guys and gals, all of you, regardless

No, I won't. It was disappointingly non-creative. Although we did get a few remixes, a leak of a new song, some Dj solos that were new. But yeah, it became more and more stale and I feared they would never release anything new. But, and the point is, that I fear even more now that we won't get to hear new music. So in the choice between evils I'd prefer a lineup without Slash and Duff.

And then I hope I am completely mistaken and that this lineup will actually prove me wrong. GN'R often proves me wrong :)

    Jesus Christ SM...

There was ZERO chance to the 2009-14 line up to come out with a new record (remember, record label already dropped back the second half of CD in 2010 probably because Slash was not on in it.... that's why Axl wanted to cancel the whole 2010 tour, but he changed his mind luckily....), if there was a chance, we would get that record by now...

Now that the 2 more prominent members back in the band, hopefully record deals can be smoothened out again and if the rumours were true, Slash already laid down a few parts and 4tus said even in 2014 that some ideas of the new songs rooted back to the Slash days, so i would say that you should choose the current line up, because there's a better chance than ever to hear new music from them! For example, Slash very easily reworked Better and played CD solos without a major problem so i would take this as a good sing.

Maybe we will only got a few songs, not a full record, but i have a gut feeling that NOW or Never for new material:headbang:

I don't think that it will be released until 2018, though.

If we consider other factors (aka. other projects, business side of the things, sudden "life gets in the ways") then time will tell

You know what you guys should do ?

You should go straight to Slash and Duff's faces and tell them  " this isn't GnR ".

    Then you watch their non-reaction.

    sarcastic mode on:

They would laugh and nod and say: "yeah, we know, bro" but we are all older and it doesn't matter anymore.

    /off

But i don't want to live in a fantasy world where i think that this is 1993 all over again

At the end of the day the music matters and i've liked the 7 shows so far so i'm good with GNR

The article suggests that Axl found epiphanies in Niklas Luhmanns "Systemtheorie" and used the resulting insights and enthusiasm to get GNR back on track. Then follow several fictional dialogues during the reunion process, featuring slash and co as if they were philosophers and sociologists themselves, uttering overlycomplex tidbits from these sciences. And so on (sorry, typing on a phone)

I think it's supposed to counter all the detailed analyses and critiques that way - ironically showing that it was exactly none of that but "only rock n rolll" in the best sense.

it would be cool, if Axl studied Luhmann's Systemtheorie

As a former sociology student, i enjoyed his thoughts

  12. I think it doesn't matter what is the story line

You just have to stare at these fuckers on TV and that's all

    Biorobot mode ftw

The show becomes shit and this episode was probably the final nail in the coffin

I will watch the second episode and if they don't put Bran Stark on it, then i'm done with this show

(A show which is more of a meme these days than an actual show)

maybe the writers make the storyline intentionally so stupid that people will be able to make even more shit memes about it?
