I wasn't online when this all happened but it looked like Bumble was just covering his ass...and did a poor job at it too. I cringed.
-
all sound great! AxlisOld sounds exactly like Axl @ "I would do anything for you". Fuckin blew my mind.
-
Sorta glad they didn't officially release it. I liked the intro but the rest was meh. Just some cool backstage shots.
-
I wonder what their source is for all of this info?
Just estimates. No one except them and their accountants know the real numbers.

I like this fan version better:

I don't see whats so great about this..............that was not one of their better performances anyways

Replace bumble with Carly Rae Jensen

You guys do realise there's a few snippets lying around on youtube, right?
They sound AWESOME and are probably our best chance at getting music any time soon, even though the dude holding them has milked it a bit - Had run-ins with Axl's lawyer didn't he?
Definitely not early 80s GN'R material. That guitar tone sounds way too close to AFD which was '86+ and Slash was in by then. I think the other poster is right in that this may be the Zakk Wylde era stuff. Sounds a lot like Zakk. But Axls voice sounds very much like his AFD voice....I really don't know but I know its not pre-AFD. Slash coined that sound using a '59 Super Lead. I could see Zakk re-creating that sound later.

This is a bit off topic but I didnt want to make a thread about it. Do Robin/Paul/Bucket get royalties for CD? Even though Bucket wasn't under contract when it was released does he get royalties for helping write the songs? Same with Paul?

What you'll see is a lot of the more respected "fighters" (MMA etc.) tend to avoid fights at all costs. Guys like Bas Rutten for ex. tend to de-escalate the situation instead of smashing the other guy in. What you have to realize is that it's 2012 and everyone is suing everyone else. Its always best to try to avoid it at all costs. It's not worth getting sued over or being sent to jail for. People have ruined their future from fighting alone.
Be the bigger man and let it go.

It's not my favorite but I think it is the best song they collectively wrote. Everything from the lyrics to the piano to the solo was perfect. Listen to Slash's tone during the solo...effin perfect. It has its highs and lows. The intro is chilling. It is THE song I would play to anyone who never heard of GN'R before.
But for me personally there are others I like better, Breakdown, Coma, Civil War, Paradise City. . .but I won't deny Estranged is imo the best GN'R song written.

If another album was in process, shouldn't there be any new leaks? BITW doesn't sound like a new song but more like a mix and I'm really hoping it's not a new song!

John 5 is on par with Bumble skill wise
No he isn't.
Based on what? He is just as good technically.
based on their skills. No he isn't.
Ron's picking is better, tapping, vibrato, versatility. If you think John is a better song writer fine I don't care he maybe is but he isn't on Rons level of playing.
Based on their skills? They can both do all of those things. How do you know if one guitarist is better at "picking" than another? Or more versatile? It sounds really subjective. Hence why I said they are both on the same level but I could not choose one over the other because I don't understand how one can sit there and say "oh this guy is way better at picking, or this guy is better at tapping so he must be on a higher level".

This is the kind of playing that you could have with Govan on board. And it sounds fkn beautiful. The jams would be outwordly, they'd jam from Vai and Lane to Hendrix and Page. From Kiss and Beatles to Dream Theater and Maiden.
That is perhaps the problem? They play so much different and diverse music that it is hard for fans to relate to them as having their own unique style with signature licks that goes through their music as a red, recognisable and beloved thread. It is well and good to be able to play literally anything, but when you are literally playing everything, it is hard to come across as having your own recognisable style. We may scorn of Slash's limited capabilities, but at least he managed to create an awareness around his style, he managed to perfect his music within his limited scope, and he managed to create memorable, everlasting music. If every solo you write is supposed to be technically impressing, or very distinct from the last one you made, or full of flashy gimmicks, it is really hard to sell yourself as a strong, identifiable rock and roll guitar player. It is not about cramming as many notes into the solos as possible, or using the most advanced signatures and picking styles, but playing within a box and making something memorable and enjoyable within that box which fans can relate to and accepts as being "Guns N' Roses". There is a reason why guys like Bumblefoot and Gowan has such a small following and why it mostly consist of music and guitar nerds who are blended by the pure brilliance of their skills: it is because what they do just isn't memorable to most people. People are less interested in techniques than in music. And that is why John 5 captivates so many with a simple cover of Axl's WTTJ lyrics, not because he is able to do it so well, because many guys could do that, and certainly Bumblefoot and Gowan, but because he chooses to do it. He chooses to play something that is cool rather than push the envelope to the point where it is lost on the majority of fans. It says a lot about his musical preferences.
Thank you! I usually do not like your posts but you really hit the nail on the head with this one.

There is a reason why John 5 went to Ron's masterclass ( true story ) and not the other way around.
Enough said.
Can you provide a source?
Back to the thread. I'm fairly certain John was given consideration in 2006 but he had just joined Rob Zombie. He also does a shit ton of recording with other artists. I don't think the schedules would have lined up. He is a damn good song writer which is why he has been recruited or collaborated with so many big name artists. He's not just some metal head for those that listen to Zombie, he has a wide array of musical talent. He would have been like Bucket but heavier. I don't think he is as good as Bucket but close. Think of like Shacklers.

I think he'd be happy with his place in rock history. Immortality.
Yeah I Agree with this
Even if GN'R releases some dog shit record in the future, Axl will still me immortalized in not just RNR fame but music in general. Very unique character, voice, and is one of the best frontmen of all time.

No he isn't.
Based on what? He is just as good technically. His song writing skills are superior to Bumble's.

John 5 is on par with Bumble skill wise but is a much better song writer. His riffs are fuckin killer. I'd take John over Bumble anyday. But I would take Bucket over John
-
GH has always sold very well. Its for the casual fan that doesn't know much about GN'R but really dig WTTJ, SCOM or whatever and wants to explore more GN'R stuff.
-
He has some bad ass jeans
-
Randy I like your threads but the Shackler solo is Bucket's solo that was recorded over. And that solo is fuckin mean. But I do agree Ron doesn't really add much to CD.
-
Rock Am Ring 2006 had the best nightrain and KOHD of all time
-
i thought axl decked that fat fashionista
yes but they are on good terms now

I like the song but it sounds dated. I mean so do some of the classics but for a song that came out in 2008 it sounds dated.
Slash vs. Buckethead Vs. BBF

There's a reason you see Slash and Bucket in those top guitarist lists all over and Ron is hardly ever mentioned.
