  1. Really enjoyed the song since I heard one of the live recordings, I think it was from 1/1/01.

I asked bbf in one of his video chats and he put it down to the difficulty in vocals.

Thanks, that clears it up I guess. I do wonder how that case got settled. As the case was still ongoing when they started the 2009 tour I guess that's why they didn't perform it in Japan.

Anyway, it remains a good rocker!

I don't think the lawsuit has anything to do with it - the song itself has been performed sans new intro back in 2002 and would be incredibly easy to just not do the intro.

The lawsuit has nothing to do with it being performed live

Well the lawsuit didn't come till 2009 (after CD had been released) and and I'm willing to bet that intro was done at a later stage of mixing as it didn't appear on the demo version (see instrumental earlier in this thread), which is why it would not be present in the 2002 live version. As for Rhiad being on recent setlists, to my knowledge it hasn't been played live after CD got released in 2008, let alone after 2002?

  3. It wasn't dropped due to copyright or whatever... I bet it was dropped due to the challenging vocals. On a side note... this is what's passing for Guns N' Roses these days?

Then why didn't they perform it in Japan in 2009 (as they did basically every other song on CD)?

The lawsuit with Ulrich Schnauss' label was earlier in 2009...

So IMO it was definitely dropped due to copyright.

  4. I saw it played live in Belgium many a moon ago (see below), and enjoy it on CD, but I take it due to that intro synthy thing using an unauthorized sample it can't be played live anymore?

I say drop that intro (that wasn't even present on the demo version) and play the song again cause it's killer.

  5. Kiss is renowned for squeezing every dime out of their audience, they'd sell their mothers for a quick dime. The reason these meet & greets are so expensive is of course the big demand, but if you're clever you try to get backstage an other way (via press, connections or fanclub, ...) I'd love to meet the GnR members, but aside from Axl I don't think it would be that hard to get to meet Bumblefoot, DJ, Richard, ... They seem to show up at events etc.

  6. When Buckethead left, any chance GNR had of being "mainstream" post-Slash went with him. Other than Axl, he was literally the only real draw. Not to mention he's an absolutely wicked guitar player and songwriter. And I'm a massive Robin fan, but Bucket was the real draw while he was around. I'll never forget the Chicago show in 2002 how much the (sold out) crowd loved him.

Honestly, when I saw them perform in Belgium in 2002 (I believe it was), nobody knew Buckethead nor Robin Finck, Axl was always the main draw and the center of attention. I don't think that has changed in mainstream regards. All the articles I read about live gigs in the last decade mention Axl mostly and his bandmates as 'hired guns', regardless of what lineup. That's mainstream media mostly, I do hope that mainstream fans start to appreciate the guitarists in the current lineup.

I personally think Buckethead is one of the best guitarists around (based on his contributions to CD)

Well son, then you better take a few days off and explore his solo albums. His contributions to CD (other than the TWAT solo) don't even begin to show a tiny portion of what an amazing musician he really is.

It's on my bucket list. :tongue2:

P.S. I love his work on Carpenter's "Ghosts of Mars" as well rock3

  7. With all the leaks preceding CD, can you imagine a new album suddenly being released with say 14 tracks of previously unreleased material? The latest suggestion by Bumblefoot to release one song at a time is a clear sign that the new album will never get finished otherwise. And I suspect if they don't release the tracks separate, they will be leaked prior to any new album. Of course I could be wrong, and no I wont buy you a free Dr. Pepper. :tongue2:

  8. I personally think Buckethead is one of the best guitarists around (based on his contributions to CD), but sadly one of the worst character creators; the mask is obviously a rip off from halloween and the bucket with the chicken references... for one or two gigs, ok we get it, but honestly, he is the 'yucko the clown' of the metal world. At least Daft Punk look cool in disguise...
