  1. It's one of the highlights of CD, I do wish it started the way it ends; a slow buildup with the piano melody more audible (instead of buried in drums and guitar) would have been better. That said, once it's underway it's such a rocking tune with cool buildups and amazing piano, orchestra and singing (so hard to reach 'fame' twice in this song when I try to sing it ). It's another example to me of an excellent track on CD that amazingly could benefit from more work done to it (others being Catcher, Madagascar, TWAT).

  2. It would be fine if they had a afterparty for VIPs and have Pitman, Bumblefoot & Ferrer do a club set if they still have the energy for it, but they can figure out ways to entertain the VIPs and the sponsors should find something cooler to do for them.

Yes, I'm sure after they've played for 3 hours they'll still want to play for the 'VIPs'... If I were going VIP my mindset would be expect nothing, be glad with anything more you get.

  3. Since most people didn't give CD a chance, dismissing it entirely after a first listen (this album really needs to grow on you) because it wasn't what they expected, I do predict that if a CD II was released, this time people know more what to expect and in the 5 years (!!) following CD, it has become more appreciated than when it first got released.

The question is, will CD II still have that big production? We know the current members have said they've been working on stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if Axl let them re-record everything endlessly like he did on the first CD to get what he think he wants. His need for perfection didn't get him the praise he expected, he just need to let go of the reigns and trust his band and producer else nothing will ever get released.

  4. It is a very polarizing album. People either like it or hate it. I applaud Rolling stone for giving it a positive review at the time when most press (including local over here) were just waiting to ridicule Axl & his version of GnR, not even giving the album a chance and just blaming him for robbing them of their ideal GnR album and lineup. In the aftermath, more positive reviews started to appear online and you'll see people defending it and its songs. There was too much bad history overshadowing the album. For me it has been an album that I didn't connect with completely at first, but after sticking with it and playing around with track order it is now easily in my top 5 of most played albums. Going to see them live, I was actually looking forward more to the CD material than their classic track list, though I recognize I'm clearly in the minority there.

  5. I truly believe that CD was Axl pushing his own and his bandmates' musical abilities to their limits; people who say it's basically a bunch of layering, listen to the orchestration on There Was A Time and Prostitute. I love how this album sounds and the detail that went into each track, each note and each performance. I can only fault some of its creative choices as some of the songs I find feel outdated only feel so because of the high standard of the rest of the material. That the songs don't sound alike and therefore don't form a proper album I'm not bothered with, I think everything complements each other nicely. Also in 2008 most album releases were plagued by the loud wars and lack of proper guitar solos, the way this one sounds is just divine and the solos are excellent IMO. The pro tools elements and hip hop backbeats don't bother me, for me it's an amazing feat of production.

  6. If Axl has no legal recourse, what's stopping them?

I don't get why Axl would have such a stick up his ass over this anyways. Ten years of legal mumbo jumbo over this? Really Axl?

If he doesn't want this music to be heard? You know they will market this as a Guns 'n Roses release, the only reason people will buy it is because he's on it? I'm sure if he wanted this music to be heard he'd have allowed it to be released earlier.

  7. Howard got roasted a bit by Joan Rivers, Jeff Ross, and Lena Dunham.

Yeah, but they need to do a proper roast of him like they did with virtually every other member on the stern show (bababooey and Artie Lange roasts being the best). I've stopped listening to the show for over a year now because the content has become too weak since he went on AGT and there's no budget anymore for wacky contests and freakshows... I tuned in for the free birthday bash and had hoped that Artie Lange would finally make an appearance again, I mean the guy is doing his own show right now and about everyone from the Stern universe has been on it, we need a reunion!
