Nice interview, I don't personally see his efforts as being wasted or squandered, his songs seem to fit him the most and I feel he is more a collaborator than someone who'd write melodies for Guns, once they are there, he knows how to flesh it all out!
Thanks for posting.

The only part of the lyrics I feel is out of place with the rest is that 'ghost of pride' line... always gets a sigh from me. Otherwise amazing song.

I am serious, what do you think Duff honestly thinks about the State of Guns right now? I tuned in to watch some videos of the recent shows and am almost losing some respect for Duff. This band is so god damn bad. I just wonder if he is really enjoying himself out there. This band has destroyed these songs and they sound nothing like they used to. Is he really proud to be part of that? Then there is Axl who sounds like a dying squirrel and looks like weirdo. The guy has zero stage presence left. He just look sand sounds so awkward up there. I wonder if Duff has watched any of these performances..
Watching what they did to those classic songs on the Golden Gods show made me want to puke.
I haven't been a fan of Axl carrying on with this band but when he first came back, he still sounded pretty good and had a cool stage presence. The band at the time also did the songs justice like at the first Rock In Rio with Finck and BH. They looked like ass clowns but they still sounded pretty good.

I think he made the wrong choice by continuing to play with the guitar out of tune. At these type of shows it's not unusual for second takes, and I don't think anyone would have blamed him really.
Still, at least someone got fired.

He plays 3 or 4 different guitars throughout the show not? When Axl was doing the band introductions, he said "we seem to be missing someone", that was DJ going backstage to get his out of tune guitar!
-
Apparently DJ Ashba and Richard Fortus are working on it in their home studios and it will be out soon!

I really liked CD and the last times I saw them play (in 2010 and 2012) were great. Plus BBF rocks!

This I love...
SCOM intro ... holy s***.

What I saw from the first concert of the current tour, Axl is way out of shape and breathless for most of the songs and from the videos I've seen of this gig (I didn't stay up for it), nothing has changed. Still kudos to him given his current condition to still go into the lion's den knowing he will be shot down by any other performer down there.
Also funning seeing Dee Snider kiss ass with Bumble and DJ/Richard about how Axl is so inspiring when at the HOF for Guns he was basically shitting all over him. I wonder what he makes for hosting the red carpet, more or less than for a twisted sister concert lol? -
I think he can still sing great but he's out of breath from all the moving around; that Dublin performance where he returned and stood on the same spot for most of the time and even sat down, he sounded amazing... For me he doesn't need to be running around every song.

Agreed about BB nailing Estranged, especially his wailing sounds! We need real dolphins on stage.
For me he also completely nails TWAT, which is not an easy thing to do.

Nice version!

Needs more grasp.

For me prostitute could have benefitted without that drum loop just start off with the piano rendition, leading up to perhaps a busier mix. But as it is, it is too dense. I do like when the drums kick in at 00:58 (album version). This is really one of those tracks where Axl over thought the song and made it a lot more complicated than it should have been.

It is not common for a band to write everything together; for Iron Maiden it's Steve Harris, for AC/DC it's the Young brothers, the rest just comes in when the material is written...
-
I don't get why Axl is such a puss about releasing music.
Fear and self doubt.
I believe it's a mix of the following; the bad reception of CD at the time, the aging of the rest of the unreleased CD material (not to mention change of guard since), the perfectionism and last but not least Axl is old now. It's obvious he doesn't view himself as a song writer anymore, just a performer.

The should play the November Rain, Estranged, Prostitute trilogy!

DJ Ashba hitting that drum during Madagascar.

Can't we have 3 bass players?

Interesting, I was under the impression that Axl only appeared once when Stern phoned him himself. Also, there is supposedly a Slash interview on the Stern show where Slash said that buckethead plays without emotion, would like to hear that one as well!
Hey now!
