  1. Between the release of Appetite for Destruction and The Use Your Illusions there was a 4 year gap. Lies shortened this gap somewhat, making it a 3 year wait. But that was just an EP. And there were only two new singles between 1988 and 1991, one of which was a cover song.

In the '80s and early '90s, a 4 year wait between albums was an eternity.

Consider that in 4 years ('69-73), Led Zeppelin had released 5 albums. In 5 years (1969-1974) The Rolling Stones had released six albums. GNR's contemporaries, like Metallica, had released 3 albums in the 4 years since their debut album. Queen, Axl's biggest influence, had released 6 albums in the 4 year span (1973-1977) from their debut. The Doors, a very short lived band, released six albums in the 4 years between their debut and final album.

By any real rock standard, GN'R's output was the total opposite of prolific.

In the 4 years between Appetite and the UYIs, Reagan left and was replaced by Bush; The Soviet Union was no more by the time the UYIs came out; Michael Jackson had went from black to white.

With a 4 year gap and the massive expectations thus placed upon it, were the UYIs worth the wait? Both in terms of their overall quality, and the fact that fans had to wait so long for them?

You can not be serious!? It is not April fools day, ya know?

  2. I had been a fan of Slash eversince I first heard him, which included his post GNR era too, yet,

the latest album just didn't cut it for me.

I would say up until now he turned to gold everything he touched, but WOF just sounds like a weaker copy of AL.

I am afraid Myles doesn't have charisma nor width to make songs sound differently unlike all previous Slash singers from Axl, Eric, Rod....

It all sounds very repetetive, weak, bleak, boring in a way...like we almost heard it all on the previous record.

I am almost afraid to think Slash will go on with Myles.

  3. another stupid topic that depends solely on personal taste without any relevance.

ie. there are clowns who will say that CD was not only better Than Slash, Snakepit's or Neurotics and VR, but better than UYI's.

People will say Izzy's albums are better than anything Slash did post UYI, just cause they don't like Slash, truth, non of Izzy's albums is not only worse than any Slash, but worse than any Duff or most Gilby albums.

Honestly, Izzy was a founding member, but image wise, Gilby was better fit than Izzy, not to forget Izzy wanted to leave. Also, music wise, there was no great differance. Composing? Hard to tell as there was never GNR written maerial realeased with Gilby.

Fact is, TSI sounded great. ie. Raw Power, Ain't it fun, Black leather...

Same goes for Sorum vs Adler.

  4. Snakepit 1 and 2, followed by Neurotic outsiders are million ligh years away from everything else, ok Slash solo album just as good.

However, Pawnshop and other Gilby albums are still pretty good.

Alot better than Duff and especially any Izzy album.

Especially ANY Izzy album? lol fuck no. Have you listened to Juju hounds? It's a fine album.

Yes and found nothing interesting. As a matter of fact I still own it.

I found all of Izzy stuff bleak, boring, overrated.

But hey, some say Snakepit's weren't good LOL.

    Guess a matter of taste.

  5. depends on your personal perspective.

if you pu on a cd thinking it was recorded 1971, 1988 or 1991, of course it will sound dated.

hell, album from 2005 or 2010 will sound dated.

personally, I always thought UYI's were epic, I grew up on them, boughtbthem backin the day and still say I never heard more complete albums wit variety in sound and all - just epic.

Band said back in the day that the albums were 'overproduced' and since then ppl who ddn't listen to those albums once tend to say 'UYI's are overproduced', yet in th 23 years I didn't come across 1 person who could argumentably define me what they mean by that.

Just give us a break and enjoy them as they were. There is one 'Bad Apple' on 2 cd's, My World, everything else is just GREAT.

Coma, Estranged, Breakdown, Civil War, YCBM, DTJ, Pretty tied up, Locomotive, Don't cry, NR, Right next door, Perfect crime, Dead Horse, Bad Apples, Back off, Don't damn me...name me an album or a record that had so much GREATNESS and came out on the same day or one double album!?!?

  6. Izzy was back for a few weeks and had a shit load of demos but I don't think anything got done with them. There was a demo with Zakk Wylde that didn't have any vocals on it that was recorded for GNR around 95 or 96

The bluesy thing that Axl was talking about was one of Slash's songs that ended up on his Snakepit record. Remember Axl did like 3 or 4 of the songs that Slash came up with back then. Its just that 3 or 4 songs that they were both on the same page on was not enough to make a record when they both wanted different things for the rest of the record and who was going to play on the record instead of Izzy.

    Marc,

would you happen to know which 3 or 4 songs that were?

Personally, the 2 Pit albums were bombs. Probably best most versitile albums post GNR era.

Also, any wild guess if we night here those Izzy tracks one day or were they chopped up for other albums?

  7. Marc,

according to your knowledge, were there any plans of usage of the material that was locked up?

were there any plans of releasing any further material, audio or video?

perhaps something like PJ used to have could had been done, all shows available for order on dvd or cd...

Shame Buenos Aires 1993 would never be available in at least dvd quality...

  8. I don't really know. I do know that there was a time that Axl wanted to make a deal with the record co so that fans could order a copy of the gig that they just saw. I do know that Slash and Axl were not getting along at the time when they were putting together the record. Also I don't think Axl was in favor of putting out a live record at that time but they owed the record co something.

you mean the shows of the UYI era??

  9. he probably got hungry really late one night and went down to the first KFC he saw.

as it turned out it, it was closed but he begun chatting with this nut case who was a cleaner in KFC and the moron saw the chance to earn some $$$ so he talked him in about music...

that is the only way I see someone who walks around with KFC bucket on his head can land a position in a band that actually has a record deal.

  10. Marc, thank you very much for all your time and patience you took to answer things through the years, some numerously over and over again. I don't want to question your friendship with Slash/Axl/Duff.., but most of us here have different perception regarding the line up. We, DIE HARD fans from back in trhe day want to see GUNS N ROSES! I don't have any desire to see a stand up comedy band playing with my band on the same stage. If they want to open up - fine, but that IS a stand up comedy cover band I will not payor care to see.. I have no desire to see guys with painted faces, KFC buckets on their faces, drag queens playing guitars or any of that crap! GUNS N ROSES is Slash/Duff/Matt/Gilby/Izzy/Axl and maybe Adler. Any of those line ups - yes, evrything else NO. I want to see rock band looking like rock band playing rock songs, not some generic shit a la Chinese Shit Democracy.

Thats not a problem, then you should come 1 hour into the set and then you can see what you want. Believe it or not there are some people that would leave after the fist hour.
    Hey Marc,

as you put it, belive it or NOT. I find it hard to belive, but hey, those people should not come to Guns N Roses show then, as the people they come to see is not Guns N Roses.

I honestly hope they would not come to the same show I would, cause they would be in huge minority and it would spare them the leaving part ;)

as far as the part coming an hour later is considered....I would feel deprived of my money. If I pay the money for my band - I want to see entire concert I paid for. That would mean an UYI tour length show.

I never pay money to see opening band and don't usually care who it is, but I want to see the band I worship in full length.

but to put joke aside...I do belive you mean their closer family members ;)

  12. Idk, man. Adler is proven to be one of the biggest idiots in rock music

He's still a millionaire and is married to a beautiful woman. Adler will also forever be known as the true drummer for GN'R no matter who Axl hires. Adler-1 GN'R fan on the Interwebz-0.

I doubt this girl was hit on by Adler. Maybe a GN'R tribute band was in town that week and faux-Adler tried to get a piece on the train?

doesn't everyone in the universe know by now the guy is totally bankrupt!?
