In APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION: DAYS OF GUNS N' ROSES, the book that Sugerman wrote about the band, Axl tells that in 1990 he visited Morrison's grave at the Père Lachaise Cemetery, in Paris. Seems like the encounter with his idol's death beat the shit out of him: "I decided to live for myself, not to die for rock n' roll." Axl Rose is very smart and talented, but sometimes his explosive personality makes him miserable.
It could explain a lot

In 1991 Axl often showed up in public drinking only coke because as he said: "Alcohol hurts my throat". He doesn't seem to care much about that these days if alcohol is still a problem

Does anybody actually say age is the reason???? There is no way.
Steven Tyler is one more example in his 60s who can still turn on consistent raspy/screaming vocals and is very active on stage also.
Well, yeah there are several comments on this forum who lists age as the main reason for his downfall in voice.
Steven Tyler is another good example yeah

This is Dan McCafferty (Nazareth) in 2010 at the age of 64. I used him as an example as he has similar voice to Axl and also he is one of Axl's idols and inspiration. Sure age can play a part, but I think this shows that you can still sing good at this age

What a brilliant performance of This I love from the Netherlands in 2010. You can tell Axl is really proud of this song with the bow and everything after his vocal intro. Had this been released in the original GNR era it would have been a big hit Im sure. Dont know why people dont like this song
