I’m so glad they went the distance with this one without it leaking.

Dumb question, but say it does get released to radio next week does that mean streaming services too?

Jock on 95.5 here in Chicago just said a new GNR track could be popping up “sometime next week”! 😮

I think it was 7 weeks in between Absurd and Hard Skool. The 6th is the 7th week since Perhaps, and happens to be when they play Powertrip
Just sayin'
Yeah, dropping it next week in time for the Cali shows would be pretty neat!

Is he anything close to an insider or someone that would even be able to definitively say? For all we know he’s just giving an opinion.
It could go either way but at this point if I was a betting man I’d say it’s vinyl exclusive.
We’ll see!

What did he say?
That the rumor didn’t make sense considering they’ve released every other song digitally and to radio. He’s on tour with the band rn so I’d say that’s as close to a confirmation as we’re going to get before it comes out.

Jarmo basically just put the no digital release rumor to bed on his site.

The more I consider it, the more I think this whole no digital release rumor surrounding The General is just a ruse to build anticipation…mostly because it’s just too off the wall dumb to be the truth.
-
Be cool if this dropped next week in time for the CA gigs. It won’t, but it’d be cool.
-
I get withholding a digital release until late October to maximize pre-sales for the vinyl or whatever, but withholding it completely for that reason in 2023 literally makes zero sense at all business wise, any way you slice it. I can’t think they’d do that indefinitely…not even GNR.

Why the fuck would they advertise a wildly negative detail?

I really hope @Fernando flat out denies this nonsense.

Maybe this is nothing but I uploaded a while ago on Spotify all the village sessions and I could hear them perfectly but since yesterday I can't listen to Me & My Elvis, Spotify tells me this song is not available now.
Any thoughts on this??
Sporadic house cleaning? Wouldn’t look to much into it.

I think we’re anticipating the worst, because we’re GNR fans and it’s what we do. I think The General is going to be super dope in reality.

I think too that we had SUCH a long buildup to them doing Perhap, with so many soundchecks, that for The General to just appear one night, without any of that would seem strange.....but it did happen with Absurd I suppose.
I’d bet the farm that the mystery song they rehearsed last year was The General. No idea how much they’ve revisited it since then as a band.

I think it could well get a digital release soon like Hard Skool, but I don't hold too much faith in Fortus's comment.
I just don't see them playing this live in the next 13 shows.
Yeah, whatever is going on in that god-awful 2010 phone recording is pretty wild vocally. Might be something that stands on its own, but we’ll see.

Something we should consider is how Richard recently said they should be adding The General to the live set “soon” and that they’ve rehearsed it. Since the tour (save for 1 show) ends before the physical release, it’d make sense to assume that means a digital release will come while the dates are still ongoing, since surely that will come first before they take a crack at it live.
-
@Fernando said “Perhaps is a great song, The General is a monster.” If that’s their thinking, I can’t see them withholding a digital release to push vinyl sales. It’s absolutely counterproductive.
-
My personal opinion is that the 6 or so tracks Slash and Duff recorded on were ones handpicked by Axl that he felt could be legitimately elevated by their sound(s).
The way he seemingly lives outside of time I’m sure we’ll see several more unheard tracks from that era probably on a CD 20th anniversary collection down the line. So no, I don’t think he’s simply washing his hands of it with the next couple singles.- 1

I went and snooped on an AC/DC forum after this, and I must say, all is forgiven with this place.
Here was me thinking the GN'R fanbase complained too much, but they operate at an Olympic standard compared to us 😂 How can fans of a rock band be so miserable and negative?
Now THAT is saying something! 😆

Did you ask him whether The General is getting a digital release? 😏

Hell yeah. 😎

That’s what I’m thinking too.

I guess he means a GN'R Central video that just repeats the same stuff from the same sources ("hasitleaked" etc.).

That’s exactly what he’s referencing. I think The General is the last new track we hear for a long while. And I’m actually good with that.

Do we all want a 2016 live blu ray?

The 2023 setlist really distilled all the best things about GNR’s catalogue IMO, not to mention it’s the best Axl’s looked in recent years. I’d much rather have a 4K Blu-ray of one of these shows.
