Agreed I would expect the other tracks to just be slightly more compressed and a little louder. Just like most remasters these days.
Even tho that’s what I’m expecting, it’s definitely gonna be jarring when listening to the full album to hear such an increase in quality before dropping again. Hope they found a way to make NR seem at least a little consistent with the rest of the remasters

Maybe I'm just so used to the original but i really dislike the mix of the vocals in the outro. Sounds off

Tbh I think axls voice is the most consistent it’s ever been. Look at 1986-1993, which is almost as long as it’s been since the reunion in 2016. Axls voice was wildly different every one of those years during his prime, he never found a way to make it consistent and healthy. His voiced aged more in those 7 years than most singers over their entire career. His voice is definitely still aging, and it’s noticeably worse than 2016, but I think he found a way to sing that works for him and his voice while still being able to go for those high notes. I’d still rather see Axl do his thing as he’s doing it now than change his approach completely, because what he’s doing still does sound passable even if it’s not that great when you listen to the recordings the next day.

If it is a new song Meegan would for sure know about it, and posted this clip. I am not sure what that means, if it means she purposefully teased that riff or not, but she did film knowing that riff was being jammed on in that moment and would be broadcast
I think she also “accidentally” posted the Medusa head from Absurd before they played it and clips of Hard Skool soundchecks too
she knows what she’s doing

the general isn’t pulling up GNR anymore for me in the US
-
Kinda interesting thing to note when spamming linkfire pages like I’m doing is that they got 2 and they’re not compatible with each other
the one for Hard Skool and Absurd use the full gunsnroses name like gunsnroses.lnk.to/HardSkool
but the UYI box and all their main albums just use gnr like gnr.lnk.to/UYI2022
You can try putting Hard Skool on the second one and it won’t work and vice versa

this is what I get in the US for Soul Monster

Absurd comes up the the US now when searching for Atlas Shrugged
nothing came up for state of grace or the general

And this is the mystery clip we can't make out, but there's cars driving by which makes it even harder to hear.....
My guess is heartbreak hotel. It’s the same key and the solo slash does at 1:30 on the sound city recording sounds similar

IRS for me. I dont dislike the song but it is definitely my least listened to song on the album

Definitely Get in the Ring for me. In high school I used to to listen to Shotgun Blues every morning so I got a nostalgic love for that song

It kind of hurt voting for Don’t Cry honestly, but this is the round it needs to go

I love Chinese Democracy as it is, but for real tho and to answer your question I think Better is better how Slash and Duff reworked it so that’s the only song I would like re-released, as long as it had the same vocals from the album and not modern vocals. Obviously they shouldn’t be wasting their time re-recording music that’s already been released and everyone knows this so there’s no way this can be a serious question, but I seriously love the new Better intro and Slash’s solo near the end
-
From the looks of it, I’m gonna be voting Perfect Crime for a while. I’ve never been able to get into that song
-
I had to vote patience, I love the song but you’re crazy on this record is so much more fun to listen to
-
How is Brownstone leading rn that song is a straight banger. I voted Paradise but I started voting that a few rounds ago that song was never one of my favorites
-
Just chiming in here, Chinese Democracy is actually my favorite GNR album, and I followed the leaks and I loved every single leak that came out, instrumental and all. I listened to Hardschool nonstop when it leaked but there’s something about the official released version that I love a lot more than the leak. I actually really like the production on the released version, I think the vocals come out more powerfully than on the leak. Drums are fine, the drums on the leak were better but I have no complaints there. I think Slash added a lot to the song tbh, I love the riff he plays halfway through the verse and the solo sounds better than the mess that was in the leak. Assuming we get more songs from those sessions, I am 100% excited to hear Slash does to them

That Instagram story might actually be the worst thing I’ve ever seen wtf were they thinking

He could sing it the way he sings Shadow of Your Love and it would sound decent for sure

Glancing at this, it seems they’re all part of the same consecutive batch, no?
If that’s the case, then we’re like still onto something.
It could definitely be something for sure. It could also maybe just be that they’re on the same “EP” and that’s the only reason. We’ll have to see what codes the live tracks get to get a better idea I think

So I took the time to look up all the codes for Chinese Democracy as a reference
Chinese Democracy - USUM70842892
Shackler’s Revenge - USUM70842907
Better - USUM70842891
Street of Dreams - USUM70842909
If the World - USUM70842903
There Was a Time - USUM70842910
Catcher in the Rye - USUM70842912
Scraped - USUM70842913
Riad N the Bedouins - USUM70842906
Sorry - USUM70842908
I.R.S. - USUM70842902
Madagascar - USUM70842904
This I Love - USUM70842911
Prostitute - USUM70842905
So all the codes are within a specific range together, which could be a good sign for a new album with HS and Absurd imo but who knows. One thing I’ve noticed tho is they are definitely not in order and there are missing numbers so it’s not confirmed that there’s an album with 11 tracks separating the songs

THE LYRICS
A different take at things: Aside from the fact that I’ve thought the lyrics are most probably about Slash, has anyone actually entertained the possibility that Axl also might have written this thing about himself? Even if it’s from around 96/97, he’d had enough time to cool off and think about the whole Slash situation with a clear head. And it could be considered as sort of a confession or atonement. I mean, the guy is not a sociopath, he knows when he fucks up. Even despite the animosity that was going on back then, he still could have written it like that. I know it sounds crazy, but think about it.Another possibility would be he initially wrote it about Slash but now may look at it as a description of himself. Or he’s letting the audience figure it out. It’s a mystery, we don’t know, makes you think, etc.
It’s just a thought, but as improbable as it sounds, I don’t think anyone’s looked at it from this point of view yet.
I have one of the awesome hangovers. Sometimes you need it to be able to enter different realms and perspectives!
I always thought it might be about Izzy, especially if this song dates back to the mid 90’s while Slash was still there. I like your theory tho and I could definitely see that being the case. Too bad we won’t ever know for sure

Where did you hear about the bell?
Someone was talking about it in the Hard Skool is coming thread yesterday

Absolutely fantastic I love this song. When I heard about the bell yesterday I thought it would be cheesy as hell, and while it kinda is it definitely works. Thank you hard skool by take care us
UYI boxset will be released 11/11/22. In Slash We Trust. * Now available *

How are the remasters?
