  1. He plays the poor me game. "Nobody cares what I have to say." Boo hoo. When he does speak he blows smoke up everyone's ass, strings the fans along, makes excuses, points the finger at everyone else without giving concrete reasons, and mostly talks in vague, cryptic messages. Then, the few disciples he has left, try to decipher his message.

I'm sure if he wanted to talk about the touring band and all the things they were doing to "move forward" the press would be interested in hearing about it. Oh, but poor sensitive, paranoid Axl doesn't trust just any interviewer. So, he writes the questions and still gives open ended, vague answers.

To admit to the world that he doesn't care about moving forward with his grand vision would be to admit that there is no Guns n Roses, they aren't a "band" creating original music, that he is a solo artist, or at least, a solo performer, and that everything he "fought so hard to keep going" is gone. And, that would be fine. But be honest about it and stop dicking everyone around.

The problem is you and some other people here treat Axl as if he was a politician or someone who is in a place owing something to somebody else. The man is an artist!

He will produce art whenever he feels right and if he feels he don't want to do anything else ever again, then he won't. There isn't an obligation or contract signed with anyone (except with his recording company) to do stuff.

It's not like the world stops because he doesn't release music. It's not like a million of people are starving because he doesn't release music. Stop demanding shit from a guy who has no major responsability over the life of anyone in this planet.

Getting so mad and aggressive as you get will not take you anywhere, dude. Just move on with your life, try other artists and if Axl ever decides to put music out, you'll find out.

This habit of complicating something that is so simple is getting ridiculous.

He is an entertainer, not an artist. He'd like people to think he was an artist, and has done his best to form that image. But, he isn't an artist.

If you want me to take a dump in a box and call it art, I will. I've got spare time.

jesus, this is just pure stupidity reading this....cant figure out which is more puzzling to me, that you dont think he is an artist or that he has "done his best" to form the image of one. good lord man why are you even here at all?

    Its the only reasonable explanation.

  3. He has also said that he hasn't done interviews because 'nobody wants to hear what I have to say' i.e. the publications want to ask about the past instead of promote the future.

    THIS.

Why people do not pay attention to what Axl says when he actually talks?

Because his answers are not some ppl want to hear.

  4. Billy Joel won't make an album as he's not arsed with the public picking through the lyrics to find all his personal pain and bring it out into the press.

He makes fat coin touring and spends the rest of the time living the life.

    Axl's probably the same.

Much as we hate that, its his choice. He always said back in the day he imagined himself having a family and going away permanently.

Its not quite as he imagined, because he has to bankroll his "family" he needs to tour to keep that going.

I wonder if he had a lovely wife and a couple of sweet kids as he long wished for, would we ever see him?

The Hurricane Sandy benefit going well was the big reason why Billy got back into doing concerts again, but he hired a Billy Joel tribute band singer to help out. I think this is a first.

This video was made by the same one who made the GNR 'trilogy'. No dolphins and he drives his own boat. THe big budget was probably for the actors. (I don't think that's the November Rain church).

Billy Joel had a legitimate career. Don't compare Axl to Billy Joel.

  5. I do enjoy how much it bothers some that most people don't see NuGNR as GNR. "But it's a fact!!! You have no say!!!" They get so irritable.

At this point, I'm not sure if they're trying to convince those who see Axl's band as fake Gn'R or just themselves.

    Hey! Dizzy Reed is GnR.

Tommy has been in the band longer than any of the guys who wrote and recorded the Guns n Roses catalogue of music. So who are you trying to fool with this "fake" band shit?!

  6. I saw B.O.C and Foghat they were both great. Foghat was promoting their latest album. The only original member was the bass player. The drummer was the 2nd edition, and the vocalist was the voice from humble pie. They played all their classics and were so awesome. Classic rock at its finest. Anyway, the revolving door of musicians is par for the course in rock music. I never understood why some people won't give Guns the benefit of the doubt. You can point to pretty much any band and say, "that's not really..." Whoever. Tom Petty's band, for instance. They have changed the bass player and drummer during their career. Now the original bass player is back. They added a utility man, as well. But, there are some who say they aren't the Heartbreakers without Stan Lynch.

I mean, I can get a good look at a tbone by sticking my head up a butchers ass, but I'd rather take his word for it. No, wait. Its gotta be your bull....

  7. If he has no music to talk about then what can he talk about?

People are desperate for him to talk about Slash and he doesn't wanna do that (at least not in the time being). If it's not about old GNR then interviewer has to move onto private life and Axl hates talking about his private life, so really, aside from music there's not much you can ask him, unless he was willing to open up and give one of those massive historic interviews Oprah style, which will not happen in the immediate future.

    His silence, actually, speaks volumes....

Yes, it says "I know that nobody gives a fuck about me and they all think I'm a big joke. So, I'll take a page from Bob Dylan, play up the mystery card, be a recluse, try to garner some sympathy because I'm such a "sensitive" soul. They'll wonder what I'm writing, doing, what my grand vision is." Unfortunately, time has called his bluff and exposed him for a fraud.
    A fraud? WTF!

Axl is such a millionaire he must have travelled the world 20 times already. Just because he's not on the cover of People magazine every month every year doesn't mean he's a "recluse". I'm pretty sure he goes wherever the fuck he wants to go, stays months in the Everest mountain and you would never find out. That recluse bullshit is so old and boring and certainly exposes yourself for a fraud.

Right, he didnt leave his mansion for 8 years out of embarrassment. Decided to reinvent himself as the recluse. Now, he goes on tour when he wants to, he travels the world and does what he wants and has his handlers take care of him. He sings the hits badly and rakes in cash. He certainly isn't pushing himself creatively, nor has he for 20 years, because he knows he's got nothing. What he does have is disciples who have fallen for his act. He talked about a vision he had for the band and, coupled with his long absences, this creates intrigue. This is why we get one shitty album in 20 years, because, in reality, hes not doing anything creatively. Thats why band members keep leaving. It's also why the band members are forced to sign gag orders, it strips them of their right to speak out and expose him for what he is and also it further builds the mystery surrounding him and the band. Eventually, they see the light and realize they are selling their souls to be part of a glorified cover band.

Time has exposed him as a fraud.

  9. Well, the thing is... If you stil considered them WM after Debut, you everything's game now. The only important line-up change was then. After that, it was a constant rotation and now it's stable again. The only constant member has been bassist Ian Perez that is the band's second bass player, and is still there to this day, longer than anyone else since Andrew, having been every album other than debut. i discovered them with New Moon Rising so I didn't get to grow fond of the original line-up. I got pissed with the constant changes though. Glad they settled with this new power trio again. They're all awesome. Vin Steele drums like a motherfucker.

Yes, and I suppose, since they aren't just playing material by the original lineup, and are creating and adding to the beast known as Wolfmother, then its cool. ;)

  10. I don't know about all the layers and technology behind making an album, so maybe you all can explain it better.

Is it possible that all the extras/layers or whatever sounds better if the album is played on a better sound system?

Meaning - I listened to CD on my friend's sound system that is top of the line. He's a musician, records his own albums, etc. I listened to CD in his studio and it sounded 100 times better than listening to it on my crappy ipod and $40 head phones.

So could it be that all the layering and whatever Axl did to it actually does work or make the album sound better - but only if you have the proper stereo equipment to play it? Obviously ALL music will sound better on a $10,000 system than on a $500 Ipod or computer speakers. But in the case of CD, can the better stereo allow us to "hear" all the things Axl was trying to do, instead of it sounding like a jumbled mess over cheap speakers?

I've wondered this myself, but I think the basic structure of the songs aren't all that great or catchy. "If you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed..." It's that whole thing.

  11. Sundial and Heavyweight are awesome songs. I love Wolfmother, probably my favorite band ive heard in years. I like new crown better than cosmic egg, I suppose because of the "return to form.". Call them zepplin ripoffs if you want, but they have a great classic rock sound and deliver a fresh version of that sound.

But, can you really call them Wolfmother when only one of the original members is in the band? Discuss.

I'm sure most of these people haven't taken the time to listen to the rest other than their Debut. I am the biggest Wolfmother fan here, hands down. It's my favorite band and I'll tell you all about it.

    - Cosmic Egg: My favorite WM album, different line-up than debut, sort of megalomaniac, not a power trio anymore, different line-up. Some songs can't be performed live because of that. Still, excellent. Best songs? Sundial, 10.000 Feet, In The Morning, Cosmonaut, Pilgrim and Eyes Open.

    - Andrew Stockdale's Solo Album, Keep Moving: Kinda Meh, not on par with WM debut or Cosmic Egg. Has some good songs but lots of filler. Andrew decided to go solo, different line=up than Cosmic Egg or WM debut. Best songs? Long Way To Go, Keep Moving, Meridian, Ghetto, Black Swan, Everyday Drone and Black Swan.

    - New Crown: Excellent. Back to the power trio formula, stripped down album, really trashy production that reminds you of Black Sabbath Vol.4, really heavy songs. Excellent. Best songs: Heavy Weight, New Crown, Enemy Is In Your Mind, Tall Ships, How Many Times.

They're currently recording the follow-up to New Crown. I can't wait. WM does it better nowadays than the bands Rovim criticizes them of ripping off. That's just good music. Good thing someone makes good music for people that were born late like I was.

  12. I have been pulling for Axl for a long time. The more I listen to their back catalogue, the more I realize how much they sucked. They had some good songs, mind you. I wouldn't even consider myself a fan anymore.

Most of the melodies on CD are awful, his voice is awful, with the exception of a few moments. The only thing that saves it is the over production.

You're awful. Chinese is a good album. Better, Twat, Street Of Dreams, Catcher and more are all quality tunes and hopefully we'll get to hear more music on that caliber from Axl in the future.

    Quit fooling yourself, man.

The opening mickey mouse vocal on Chinese democracy really just sets the listener up for an hour of clutching the nearest thing, like their ears, or the oh shit handle in the car when you're going to fast around a corner. What is "a Chinese stew" anyway? What the fuck is that!? Better has that horrible disco intro. Half the album is a conglomeration of disco/hip hop with Axl's awful vocals, and it doesn't work. Catcher and Twat are the best examples of what I'm talking about. The rest of it is lacking something, and think that something is heart. We won't hear anymore from this band because there isn't anything to hear. When Axl's friends talk about all the material he has, how good it is, they're just being nice.
