im not even sure Izzy himself would perfer his solo work to UYI's. Izzy's solo stuff, from the stuff ive heard, is sorta half-hearted. thats not to say theres nothing good (i actually enjoy the 117 album) but it sounds like a good musician that was just keeping himself busy. nothing special or standout-ish.

He was not a fan of UYI stuff, in fact, in interviews he has said so...

Well I think the exact opposite, that those so called 'great tracks' such as Coma and Estranged are vastly inferior to the songs you deem ''the worst on the Illusions'', and that his solo albums are incredible, vastly superior to Chinese Democracy and Slash and Duff's combined projects.

    Such is subjectivity!

Guns N' Roses somehow lack class when they don't have Izzy.

Out of likes but I agree with every word.

The only thing clear to me is that those are awful lyrics. The sound of the song is good, but I find the lyrics to be terrible.

The repetitiveness is not something I am a fan of on top of it being completely abstract... just not my cup of tea. :shrugs:

LOL, lyrics rock, song is great... Go to the Dome and watch the Taco Bell Brothers play 30 year old songs off tempo...

Why do people push Axl's buttons?  He has done so much.  Him and Slash getting along and performing together.  Bringing out Steven.  Performing at the frickin Troubadour with Duff and Slash (it sounds like Steven was intended to be there too till the back problem)

I like Izzy and support Izzy's decision to leave the band during the UYI days partly because of how Axl was at that time.  But, according to Axl, Izzy was a junkie that was more of a liability than an asset during the UYI tour.  Slash said similar things, or at least that he had to work extra hard to cover for Izzy.  Izzy ducked out of the band.  He toyed around with returning around 1995 and ended up not.  He flirted with joining VR and then again, opted out of it.  Izzy seems to have commitment issues.  Axl has his faults but I bet this rift isn't all Axl

    Who is Axl? Fuck Axl...

The way I'm reading Axl's alledged reaction to this sign is the first time it was waved around it was amusing, by the 5th time it was pissing him off. Probably a bit heavy handed but it seems the joke was overplayed a bit too. :shrugs:

    Playing Izzy songs isn't?

First of all, Axl was without a bass player. Stinson had already gone and that hasn't to do with Duff.

And the other thing is that Slash probably would feel somewhat less comfortable being among the Axl's guys without Duff.

It would have been more like nuGuns with the addition of Slash. Now it is a re/thri-union with the other guys completing the lineup.

So I think that even if Axl had met with Slash directly, Duff would have got the call.

Don't forget that Axl had said in the past that he was open to work with Duff or Izzy.

With Matt is a whole different situation. It's clear that Axl doesn't want him back.

    Cool story bro

Have Adler and Izzy played together since the split? Every other member of the AFD 5 has played wth each other in some combination. Izzy played with VR and GNR, Adler played with Slash and Duff a couple years ago, etc. Either way I think it'll happen. Hopefully in NY (they should do a pre-MetLife Ritz gig lol)

    yes.

  7. There is an interview with slash, somewhere on youtube, that Izzy wrote the music and lyrics. They met with Arnold to pick a song for one of his movies, the original song was not available so Arnold asked for this one after listening to UYI 1 and 2 before the release...

Truth from this band, not in this lifetime...

When I feel like it, I will find that video and post to this thread.

I would like to believe I am over thinking the whole situation, as he very blatantly informed us with his Speculation tweet.

However my problem with all of this situation is Duff. izzy and Duff release music for How to be a Man, Duff goes on record saying how easy it is to work with him. but through out this regrouping he doesn't mention Izzy, doesn't retweet any of the music, doesn't acknowledge Izzys account, that would have been instant verification in seconds.

So reading between the lines I can't help feeling there has been a falling out, and Izzy is hitting back in style!

    +1

Yes surprising cos he bitched about Matt being brought into gnr and said he couldn't get the same sound with him as he he did Adler and that Matt brought a heavier sound that he didn't like. Another one of his reasons to leave the band apparently.

Wasn't it more about he didn't know till Matt showed up instead of Adler, he didn't have a say? Truth from this band, not in this lifetime.

Let the music do the talking...

Possibly reading to much into it but if this is Izzy current state of mind, I think it speaks volumes. There are some loaded lines right there.

Walkin past a concrete wall, I hear a big dog barkin there = Axl

Walkin past a chain link fence, Couple big dogs barkin at = Duff and Slash

Yes I am good today, tomorrows better when you find a way = When you 3 realize its not legit, still lost after all these years.

I hear a big dog barkin there
So I keep walkin down the street
Got no place I need to be
Sky is blue, the trees are green
So I keep walkin down the street

Walkin past a chain link fence
    Couple big dogs barkin at
Yea I am walkin down the street
    Future's just a mystery
    Past is just your history
So keep on walkin', I'll just see
