  1. Slash and Axl reuniting is most definitely the most exiting for me.

However, with that said, the possibility of Axl guesting for AC/DC has been the most entertaining. The complete brain melting that has been happening over it has been keeping me entertained. First just the small reaction to vague rumors, then the next wave of stronger rumors and stronger reactions, then the tidal wave that crashed down from the picture. It has been fun.

It has also been a crazy eye opening experience to see how many people hate Axl. The dude has been low key not doing a whole lot for years and the pure hatred directed at him is mind boggling. And I am not talking about the silly jokes but the absolute vitriol. And this was before the AC/DC rumors started.

  2. For me it is all about the build up. The ever so slowly mounting anticipation as it draws nearer and the contagious excitement of others who are going.

Watching as other fans leave no stone unturned in trying to divine what is going to happen in the future. Of course, we are more wrong than right, but when we are right is like finding a gold among all the pyrite.

I am just having a lot of fun and I hope everything goes well and I can keep on having fun.

Propaganda. Just about all full. Not sell outs but making money but nothing like this reunion with sell outs and people buying 2,500 tickets. Guns need to go out on top. It just feels better all round. But this need to for new Guns to completely fail is a little unecessary isnt it. but this is america if you don't make money youre a douchebag, so what you going to do? Make more money? There you go!

They weren't exactly doing awful, but not what they once were. Especially as they hadn't had any new music for a decade and sucked at promotion.

I keep reading  these posts about how Axl's band struggled and played to half empty arena's. I know i live in the third biggest market in the States and shows usually do well here, but did the tours struggle that bad? He sold out Allstate Arena in 02 and 06 and had to put some nosebleeds on Groupon for the '11 show. How bad were the smaller markets?

I could find the numbers for 2014 & 2012 Las Vegas shows, but no other shows for the U.S. I also found the numbers for the Latin American shows-

This is what I want from the band; New album(s?), remastered full GNR boxset including all the unreleased songs and documentaries and a new one covering the band and this new tour(CD would benefit from this obviously, include the remix version in this), the dates for the world tour and whether they'll come to NZ, pro-shots of most if not all of these new shows and I'd also really really like AT LEAST one special Appetite For Destruction line-up show with pro-shot DVD.

Pretty sure that's what all of us want, am I missing anything? So as much info and confirmation about these things as possible. This is what I'd ask them about. I actually think we'll get all that just not 100% sure of new music

Dream big or go home right?

I've been a slacker in this department. I've been willing to settle for UYI documentary/footage and (recently added) footage from Appetite shows.

I need to work on my wish list.

  6. Truthfully, of the younger people I am in contact with (work with 17-20 yr olds a new batch every 6 mths or so) not many of them are rock fans. Once in a while we get one who is passionate about the music they listen to and infect the some of the others, but in general they seem to listen to whatever is on the pop station with a wide variety of other things mixed in. Mostly what is on the local pop stations.

The metal fans are more likely to try to spread their love of their music than the others. One convinced two or three others of the group to go with him to a couple nearby concerts. Don't know if he converted them or not, but they all had a lot of fun.

I imagine different regions with have different results of course.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with not liking the same music as other people. Though I suppose I would be hypocrite if I said otherwise since I am a fan of music in general.

  7. This is absolutely hilarious!

I think Axl being a temporary stand in for a few shows would be cool as long as it didn't derail or interfere with Guns. However, as always, I have my doubts it will happen.

I like to imagine that AC/DC and Guns were all blindsided by this. That they were all so busy planning their future (AC/DC trying to figure out what to do with a near deaf singer, Guns preping for a tour) that they didn't catch the crazy rumors until it was being blasted out by all the news sources as a pretty much done deal. Just the thought of the "Wait, what?" look on their faces makes me laugh.

This whole thing would be even more hilarious if neither camp had even considered Axl to stand as vocalist until all these news reports and rumors appeared then all involved decided  "Hey why not?" because of all the publicity.

I'm okay with leaving this if a few sources are now reporting on it. The issue with AN is they sometimes create reports from forum rumours so are not always the best source.

It might be a good idea to leave it open just so you don't get a dozen similar posts that you have to keep locking.

  9. Probably not much use for the project, but I get something different out of all of GNR's albums. I, unlike many here apparently, like the sound of Chinese. If I just want to listen to music to listen to music I will get my good headphones and put on Chinese. I love all the different sounds and how they go together. It is an album where I can close my eyes and enjoy it and hear new things I didn't notice before.  Appetite and Illusions II may be neck and neck for my favorite Guns album due to various songs on them, but Chinese definitely gets more listens from me. I will listen to it start to finish where with the other albums I will usually only listen them start to finish if I have a lot of time to kill while I am working on a project then the order is Chinese, Illusions II, Illusions I, Appetite.

That sounds very much more in line in the information I heard. Let's stop talking about this though.

    Works for me

The Axl picture sure made this thread lively! When people are invested in something they can sure get their dander up quickly whether it is in being overly critical, overly defensive or somewhere on the scale in between. One of my favorite things about this forum is seeing how very differently we all approach being fans of GNR.

I was unaware that Axl was cleared of those charges.

He paid 1.5 million dollars for the women to drop the charges.

Charges were never filed against him the time he settled out of court. They filed civil suits. When Erin jumped in on the suit it was far too late for there to be legal charges pressed against him on her behalf due to statute of limitations. I don't know about Stephanie and why legal charges weren't pressed. It could be she was past the statue of limitations as well or because in a civil suit the burden of proof is much, much lower. But saying charges were dropped isn't really true...

Sorry, I meant to only reply to cooker. I guess the reply works for both quotes.
