  1. Aerosmith.  From Brad Whitford...

With Whitford on the road this summer and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler supporting his solo effort — where does that leave Aerosmith?

“I really don’t know. There are a lot of musical ideas floating around as Joe [Perry] has a bunch,” Whitford told MetalRules.com. “It’s just a matter of us getting together and developing it and whether that’s going to happen we just have to wait and see.”

With Tyler busy, Whitford admitted the band considered touring with a guest vocalist. On his wish list? Myles Kennedy or Axl Rose.

“We had a bunch of people a while ago like Sammy Hagar,” he said. “It would be a lot of fun.”

  2. DJ Ashba's top 5 tips for guitarists

Ashba joined up with GN’R back in 2009 and admits that leaving the band last summer was a gut-wrenching decision, but it all came down to a need for creativity.

“Walking away from GN’R was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life. I loved sharing the stage with Axl and the guys. Axl put together such an incredible bunch of musicians, and I was proud to be part of that.

“I’ll always be thankful for Axl believing in me. But it’s not my band and it never will be. I was performing songs written before I got there. I had a blast doing it, and I will cherish it. But we did a 19-day sold-out run on the Sixx:A.M. Modern Vintage tour and it was that tour of playing my own songs - songs that came from my soul - and seeing how they connected to the fanbase, I could not put that feeling into words, and I realised that I needed to follow my heart.”

  3. Gilby Clarke On Guns N' Roses Reunion: 'I'm Happy That The Guys Are Back Together'

    May 13, 2016

During a brand new interview with Argentinean rock journalist Lucas H. Gordon, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke was once again asked for his thoughts on the reunion of long-estranged GN'R singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash for a handful of comeback shows in April and a full U.S. tour during the summer. Clarke, who was not an original member of the group, said: "In all honesty, I haven't seen [any of the recent GN'R shows], so I don't have an opinion yet."

He continued: "First of all, I'm happy that the guys are back together. I think it's really important to music, especially rock and roll music, that GUNS N' ROSES is a viable band that's out performing right now. I know Axl has been out there with his band playing, but it doesn't get any better than having Slash back in the band. So with Slash and Axl back together, I really think they can have some great shows and hopefully write some good music together and keep the band name and legacy alive."

Regarding whether he thinks the GN'R reunion will last, Gilby said: "I was a part of the band twenty years ago, and a lot has happened in that amount of time. I don't know… I honestly don't know. People were asking me questions last year: 'Do you think GUNS N' ROSES are gonna get back together?' And I kept saying, 'No.' I didn't. I honestly didn't. So I'm surprised, just like a lot of people are, that the band's back together. But I think it's a great thing for music."

Asked if he would rejoin GUNS N' ROSES if he was asked to take part in the band's reunion tour, Gilby said: "You know, I don't really wanna answer that, because I don't know. I honestly don't know. It's a hypothetical question, it's a hypothetical situation. So I really don't know. I mean, before all this happened, people [would] say, 'Would you be a part of the reunion?' And I always said, 'Absolutely!' Look, I love the music of the band, I love the band and the performance, but this GUNS N' ROSES isn't the GUNS N' ROSES that I was a part of, so it's a hard question to ask right now."

    Best part of the interview:

What’s the latest with Phil [Rudd, former drummer who was arrested for threatening to kill a former employee last year]?
Angus: “Phil I haven’t heard from. He’s been very quiet of late.”
Axl: “I’ve talked to him about these other singers [AC/DC auditioned], though!”

    From Phil Rudd:

In an NZME interview earlier this month, when asked about Rudd, Angus Young said, "Phil I haven't heard from. He's been very quiet of late," but Axl Rose was quoted as saying "I've talked to him about these other singers, though!"

Rudd smiled at that. "No, I have not spoken to Axl. He has not spoken to me."

As for playing again with the band, Rudd is not saying never.  "It is up to Angus, what he wants to do. I am limited to where I can go."

  5. A new interview with Scott Stapp where he talks about joining AOA, replacing Scott Weiland:

The band includes Stapp, Disturbed bassist John Moyer, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and brothers Jon and Vince Votta on guitar and drums, respectively.

“I’m excited to be working with some new artists and musicians,” Stapp said. “I loved meeting the guys and thought we could make some great music together. Working with completely different musicians who come from completely different backgrounds is going to create its own unique sound. I’m really looking forward to it.”

The notion of Stapp replacing Weiland is eerie considering both ’90s singers were popular death pool choices for the better part of the past decade. Stapp said he didn’t have any reservations about filling in for Weiland.  “No, man, not at all,” Stapp said. “There was no nervousness whatsoever. I’m just excited to be a part of this band.”

“I take ownership and responsibility for the things that I’ve done,” Stapp said. “Some of that just comes with the territory and comes with success, so I don’t give it too much credence. I just focus on the people who like the music and support me.”

From Duff back in December 2010:

Yes, last week was pretty damn interesting if you were me. At long last, I had surgery to repair my torn and damaged sinuses left non-functional after a long-ago bout with the cocaine. From sometime in 1989 until about November 1993, I snorted perhaps my body weight in varying degrees of good, bad, and straight-up shitty blow. I don't recommend this to any of you young readers. I was NOT such a smart 20-something. Nope, just an ordinary drug-addict.

  7. Matt Sorum Interview - Forbes

    5/11/2016

He is also starting rehearsals this week for an upcoming Hollywood Vampires tour, the supergroup he plays in alongside Alice Cooper, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Johnny Depp. The band will be touring the U.S. in July, while Sorum’s old band, Guns ‘N’ Roses, is doing their high-profile reunion tour. Sorum is quite content where he is though. “I’m in the right band right now if you get my drift. I’m happy to be playing with my heroes,” he says.

  9. Ashba, meanwhile, says the biggest thing driving him forward this time around is that they have so much to prove.

“We’re leaving two of the biggest bands in the world to commit to this full time,” he says. “Motley Crue were insanely big, and Guns N’ Roses too. We could’ve carried on with those things but it’s in our nature to push hard and do something else.”
