  1. I listen to almost every genre in rock. Except that horrible nu-metal crap from the late 90s and I want to hear what the singer is singing so I don't care for that very fast metal with the grunting.

When GnR was big in the early 90s I was into them obviously, but I was also really into that alternative scene that was happening and I still am.

Nirvana and GnR were very different bands in the way they approached everything, Nirvana were anti-rock stars and coming from an indie scene and GnR were very much rockstars with the private plane and all that stuff, so it wasn't cool to like GnR if you were into Nirvana, I think. But I didn't care... I only cared about the music, even if I didn't like the GnR image of the early 90s.

  2. Yes, this is getting old. Hopefully Friday will force their hand

Nobody is ever going to force Axl's hand. That is truth.
True, but if they announce GNR and Axl doesn't clarify the band that would be odd, would it not?
That would be odd. I can't see it being announced though without clarification from someone though, whether it's just promoters or not as to who is in the band, whether than be from team Brazil, slash, duff, etc. if GNR is announced someone will realistically have to clarify who will be in the band, I just think it would get too messy and out of control and actually be more difficult for axl slash and company to do anything without clarifying their status, whether they're hiding or speaking or not.

One thing I would bet on though is, if Steven Adler is in fact involved (when was the last time anyone talked to him anyways?) there's no way he's keeping a lid on things and not talking about it after Friday. I'd hypothetically guess that if he is now he's jumping up and down somewhere dying to tell someone

Whatever the future holds with GNR. I seriously doubt that Steven Adler will be involved.
So after all this it still won't be the real reunion. Hopefully they can get CD II out in 2016.
Wonder if the unfortunate passing of Scott may even get axl slash and duff to make sure Adler is included and Izzy joins full time. Maybe it won't. I'm just hoping for the best.

Steven wouldn't even make sense... there are so many songs post-appetite he wouldn't be able to play because he lacks the skills as a drummer and I can't imagine that they want to limit themselves songwise only to have him be part of it.

  3. ******

Ok. Let's break it down. Tell me how this song would be credited.

I heard a phrase " can you feel me?"

I thought the sentence "can you FEEL me watching you" sounded cool. And as I hummed it thought it would sound cool in a song.

My friend is a musician who has his own studio. So I hummed him that line and a couple others. As a rough melody.

My friend then wrote music to two lines I sang to him. He wrote all the music for the entire song. All instruments. He played everything. I wasn't around and didn't help. I gave him two lines - he came back a week later with all the music.

I took the music and wrote lyrics that fit into how he arranged the song.

I didn't like how he ended it. He had the outro being this deep chug chug chug thing. I had him add a second guitar solo over the ending.

So he went and changed that.

HOW does that song get credited? I came up with the basic melody. And wrote the lyrics. But the melody was two lines. And the lyrics took me an hour. He out in 20 hours of work creating the actual song.

In my mind this is his song that I just helped on.

    How would it be credited?

You should both get credit. It's almost impossible when you write a song with someone else that it will be 50/50. Even if it is 90/10 the other person should get a credit.

  4. I think we will never know who wrote exactly what for UYI. In the early 90s Duff said that he wrote a lot more for UYI than he got credit for, and that everyone's ego had become so big that they were fighting over whose name should be under it, so he said they should leave his name out. But maybe that was his ego talking? I'm sure he didn't contribute as much as Izzy, Slash and Axl for those two records, but probably more than only those few songs he actually got credit for. (civil war, so fine, get in the ring, dust n bones and bad apples)

  5. If this is going to happen, this line up would make sense. This way Axl probably thinks he can save face by sticking to the new line up at least partly in which he invested so many years of his life. I don't think it should be seen as a reunion, then, because was it a reunion when Duff toured with them in South America? No. So why should this qualify as a reunion?

Steven Adler is probably too much a risk, the last thing they want is another drugs situation at one point. And even if he's clean and reliable, there's another reason... he's a fine drummer with a good groove, but let's be honest... he doesn't have the technical skills to pull off some stuff from Use Your Illusion and Chinese Democracy,

Izzy is a different story... I can imagine him not wanting to do a whole tour, maybe a few gigs here and there or joining them on stage for two songs, but that's it. He's been on his own since 1991, never had to take responsibilty for anyone except himself, never had to answer to anyone, always had control. To become part of such a huge machine again and letting go of some of that control might be terrifying and claustrophobic. He's been boss of his own system since he was 29, he's in his 50s now... I can imagine that won't appeal to him or that he won't be able to deal with that. Having that responsibility again. The same thing happened with Velvet Revolver... he was part of that project at the beginning, but when the other guys started taking it more seriously and started looking for a lead singer he bailed out because that was already too much for him. Axl more or less said the same thing about him joining them on tour... Izzy is fine as long as you don't have to rely on him... if he shows up, great... if he doesn't, no big deal... the show can still go on.

I understand the sentiment, I'd love to see the original appetite line up too, especially with Izzy, but I'd still love to see Duff, Axl and Slash on stage together. The live sound was always Slash's signature guitar sound and Axl's vocals. If they should make another album, then it definitely won't be the same without Izzy because creatively he was such a key member in the band, live not so much.
