  1. Where were the people during the Illusions Tour saying "WHERE ARE STEVEN AND IZZY?! WHY IS THERE A KEYBOARD PLAYER AND BACKUP SINGERS?! THIS ISNT GUNS N ROSES!!!"

Same concept. At least let them play a show together (Axl and Slas my will be on stage together again ya know) before the real bitching starts.

I said all of that. I couldn't believe what a mess they had made out of what had been such a great band.

  2. I hope this is a cashgrab so they stay together longer for the love of money

I'd love to see Axl, Slash and Duff on one stage. A lot. But if they're asking 200 euro's or something, they can go fuck themselves with a rake. I'd consider 100. Anything over that.... Nah.

Truth is, the artist doesn't really decide what the price of tickets will be.

I don't know how it is in Europe, but in North America (USA and Canada), LiveNation basically owns all the big venues, and they sell the tickets through Ticketmaster (they LN and TM come hand in hand). It's basically a monopoly and THEY set the ticket prices and use dirty practices to scam concertgoers (by releasing just a handful of good tickets/seats through TM and selling the rest on Stubhub or other scalping sites).

If they tour, this will be one of the biggest rip-offs of live shows. As much as I'd like to go see them, I can't help think that floor tickets are going to be way too expensive.

The ticket price is largely based on the guarantee the artist has negotiated so it's not like they have no control at all.

  3. Of course Slash isn't a founding member :) The band was founded before he came into the picture. Whether it was legally registered by that time is irrelevant. The band already existed. Unless you think that no band is a band until it has been legally registered :D Only when we are talking about the legal entity can Slash be a founding member, but we are talking about the band which existed prior to the legal registration. But oh my gawd how boring it is to discuss such trivial technicalities!

And who cares? Axl has decided to shake things up a bit this time around by getting Slash and Duff back into the band. If you like these guys then just be happy - this is what you wanted. Personally I look forward to a new chapter, great music, and the inevitable drama that is to unfold in all its GN'R splendour.

It's not about legal registration. It's about the music. The Appetite lineup is the original one in any way that could possibly count.

    Here's a setlist from last year: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/guns-n-roses/2014/the-joint-at-hard-rock-hotel-las-vegas-nv-bc021b2.html

15 songs from the Slash and Duff era. Guess how many from the Tracii Guns/Ole/Rob era.

  4. The guy was a nobody and still is. His old band was so anti Guns.....dude had his money grab and took it. The Slash haters would say Tom "sold out". No one will ever hear from him or any of the Nu Guns guys again.

Tommy is a founding member of one of the greatest bands in rock history, and was putting out records and touring before Axl ever left Indiana. Far from a nobody.

  5. So he's the 'founder' and they are merely 'former members'. What a dick move to put himself above them like that in the press release.

Why do people like you love bringing negativity into this? And if you want to get really technical, Axl had Guns N' Roses formed before Slash and Duff were in, so the press release is right

I'm not bringing negativity into it, I am just noting what is clearly stated in the press release. It's not by accident that it says what it says.

Also, The Appetite lineup is the original one to everyone but lunatics.

  6. Some of the posts in this thread perfectly embody why I hate this whole reunion scenario. Fucking heartlessly dismissing the hard work and dedication of guys who came in with the best intentions and gave whatever they could for the music and the fans/celebrating people losing their jobs...

    Fuck that shit.

Tommy cashed in pretty nicely on the Replacements reunion so I wouldn't feel too bad for him.

  7. Ugh, so basically a NuGN'R-VR-merge. None of those bands are stadium acts. If I would try and persuade my friends who are interested in music and respect and like old GNR and tell them "well it's going to be eight people and three of them were in the original band" I bet most of them will lose a lot of interest. I think diehards are more obsessed with the Axl/Slash combo than casual fans, they just want to know that they'll get the real deal, like it was in the old days. Considering the extensive touring under the GNR name in the last decade and the fact that slash has been everywhere, that weird lineup is not going to cut it.

Most casual fans never saw the original lineup.

I can only speak for my generation (30 somethings) but I think most potential concertgoers will have been fans in their youth and lost interest when the band disappeared, then read news about new lineups that never really caught their interest over the years. People remember the old band. Maybe not all the names but to sell tickets marketed as a reunion there will have to be a distance to the new band (and VR). At least a majority of members from the old era

I'm 30 and fell in love with Appetite/UYI around 2000. Completely missed their heyday. The point I was making is that a shitload of casual fans saw them in 1992-1993 without Izzy/Steven. Truth is if you saw the original lineup from 1985-1988, you are damn lucky and in the vast minority. Most of their gigs during that time were small clubs, not arenas or stadiums like the UYI tour.

The really casual fans think of GNR as the band in the Paradise City video. These are the people most likely to look at this supposed 8-piece lineup and think 'What in the fuck is this?'
