There has been some whispering about Steven, however nothing yet for Izzy.

There's an actress / presenter called Leah who's been posting some really great Periscope videos throughout the day, keeping everyone updated from her place in the line, etc. One of her friends who was with her (not sure of his name, but apparently connected to the music world...) clearly stated in one of the vids (by the time they'd got through the line & claimed their wristbands) that he had heard, quite definitively that Izzy was - quote "In the picture". He said a few times that Izzy was involved.

That's the closest I've heard that Izzy might be there tonight. Hardly official, but this guy seemed pretty sure. Here's hoping he's right!

there are no Los Angeles shows scheduled, so what kind of tickets are going to go on sale today in Los Angeles, if it is for the club show I am guessing there are only going to be a handful of them and not enough to advertise about

There's an awful lot of reference to the gunsnroses.com website on this new signage.

Best guess is that all those floating shows announced in the video last week will go on sale today at gnr.com and that's (at least part of) the announcement / whatever the hell is going on....

Guns n' Roses GNR tomorrow at Whiskey - $450

I have 2 extra tickets for the "Hollywood Roses" show tomorrow night at the Whiskey. You can only get these tickets tomorrow at the door and I'd be expecting a massive line since rumor has it that GnR will be hitting the stage. I'm selling (2) tickets for $900 in advance of any announcement. If said rumor is confirmed, I'm taking the ad down and selling them for $2K+ each. Until that time I'm willing to sell them for $450 each. I have tickets in hand and they can be picked up in 90039.

Cut N' Pasted in just incase it gets pulled.

Ok - looks like nothing more or less confirmed than we already had, just people riding the rumour waves to make a bit of cash....

I have to say I find this a bit low. People have obviously got access to tickets for these venues on the strip for tomorrow night & are now just hoping the rumours will help them sell them at vastly inflated prices to serious fans. THEY DONT KNOW ANY MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE if the band they're selling tickets for is GNR or anything else, but they've read the rumours & are trying to scalp off them.

  4. Sorry to be a pedant, but surely the title of this thread is misleading?

Sounds to all intents and purposes that IF Axl is going to do stuff with ACDC then it's FILLING IN for Brian so that the band can honour their last few dates. In no way does that make him anything other than a helping hand. He's not "joining" AC-DC or anything like that, he's helping them finish their tour.

Again - that is IF this is true.

Stevens been way too quiet, he lets the world know when Slash spurns his advances for a coffee or lunch so i think we'd have heard by now if they'd completely shut the door on him for the reunion.

I think that seems to be the sensible opinion. I hope you're right, it would be great to see him involved - if only for a guest spot (though I'd be hoping for something more)

Why would that image in the tweet lead anyone to think Steven is back in GNR? It literally says 'No Adler'

Ha. That did cross my mind too. They're literally drawing a line through him. I'd love him to be involved, so let's hope for the positive connotations for now, though!

  7. I have nothing at all against Richard Fortus, and he is objectively a very good guitar player, no doubt.

Personally speaking, however (and I know full well this is not everyone's opinion) I've never had much interest in the 'NuGNR' years, in whatever format. To me it will always be Axl's solo band.

There's been some exceptional musicians (Bucket, Bumble are incredibly skilled guitar players, whether you like their style or not) and some very good solid players too, and they put out a decent record somehow & somewhere along the line with some frankenstein combination of line ups. But it was Axl's band. Not GNR. Not to me, anyway. And I know I'm not alone with that sentiment.

So, here we have a resolution of sorts that can bring the classic band back into the picture.

For me, if Axl, Duff & Slash are confirmed, then the first choice drummer & 2nd guitar are Steven & Izzy. Second choice, Matt & Gilby.

You can argue over who is better technically til you're blue in the face. Or, indeed, whether Frank or Richard deserve it more 'cos they've been there for the past 10 years.
It just seems such a waste that the others would get together and settle for a line up that spans the 2 distinct eras. And I know Gilby was a replacement, but he filled Izzy's shoes perfectly, and was a big part of their heyday. As was Matt (though I confess to being less of a fan of his work than of Adler's, credit where it's due). When you add to that the fact that they're all clearly friends, and even played the R&R HOF together, and regularly play together at things like Kings Of Chaos gigs or charity events, etc, it just feels a bit wrong that they're not there. Of course, the other side of the coin is that Axl obviously wants to respect & reward Richard & Frank's loyalty. To the best of our knowledge, they're the two that haven't quit since we last saw the band publicly. (I'm not even going to get into the Pitman situation) And of course that's valid, too. They're his friends, and he wants to stand by them.

But put it this way, if Slash had brought Axl & Duff into The Conspirators but left Brent Fitz & Frankie whats-his-name in their current roles, and called that Guns N' Roses* (*with Axl's permission ;)) , people would be - if not equally frustrated - then perhaps even more so. Furious even.

I'm sure Richard & Frank will be more than capable of holding their own in this line up, they're both very good at what they do. But the point that so many people have made over & over on this forum is that it's just not GN'R. Despite being replacements, it does feel that Matt & Gilby were GN'R. Perhaps only because they were there at the bands' height. Perhaps because they played alongside the iconic front duo that everyone's getting excited to see again.

Perhaps all sorts of reasons. For all we know, they may have had the opportunity & passed on it - or they may still guest - who knows? Perhaps Fortus & Frank will play amazingly next to Slash & Duff & this time next month we'll be going Izzy Who? I'm kidding. I doubt it, but lets remember, we really know nothing for definite until the last notes have rung out in Vegas...

does Slash like playing with Izzy?

He's repeatedly said so over the years. And the evidence would back that up (playing on Izzy's album, Izzy playing on Slash's, Izzy would've been part of VR if they weren't looking for different things out of it, etc) The only time he's ever really bashed Izzy was in the aftermath of Izzy quitting Guns & Slash feeling let down. They've long since made peace, and certainly seem to enjoy playing together.

I just can't picture Slash and Duff not realizing how vital Izzy is to this thing....

Agreed. And surely they're all doing well enough financially to not let squabbling over bean counting get in the way?

I mean, I know there's lawyers & managers & all that involved, but prior to all this, they (Axl, Slash, Duff) have all been active enough on a large enough scale to earn good money (Slash in particular is never off the road, divorce or no divorce, the ticket revenue he generates must give him a good living - and that's before any residuals on previous records, etc).

So, money fighting seems unlikely. Possible, but unlikely. I can't imagine any of them wanting a bigger piece of the $$$ pie at the expense of Izzy not being there.

check out 4:07 and the next couple of seconds. And now their fighting and Izzy`s not involved? Sooo sad.

I wish people would stop pulling stuff out of the air. No one has said they're fighting. Just that Izzy's not involved. We don't know why.

Maybe there was some truth in the Kushner talk?

The Kushner talk was nothing more than him tweeting with excitement about the whole thing & people reading too much into it. A prime example of what I was referring to up thread. Nothing wrong with speculating & reading between the lines but 'The Kushner Incident' even made inclusion on online news reports as his 'potential involvement' all off the back of a couple of tweets & people subsequently turning them over and over online to 'prove' that they were 'clues' as to his inclusion.

I don't think there was every any thought of Kushner being involved from the GNR camp. Surely when putting this together, the choices for rhythm guitar would have been Izzy, Gilby, Fortus. All of whom have a greater claim to the gig than anyone else before they started looking elsewhere.
