I'm in the minority apparently, but I loved every moment of the set. I saw them live last Sunday at Emirates Stadium (had Miles Kane come out for 505 which was a treat).

Alex Turner is certainly an acquired taste, especially of late, but I sit firmly in the camp that loves his modern persona, the approach to older songs as well as the more modern albums. Tranquility Base was certainly a slow burner but once you get beyond the whole "where are the guitars", it's a ballsy as fuck album that rewards relistening.

Appreciate that this is a GNR forum, but I personally think that the Arctic Monkeys are a far more relevant and important band to the current landscape than GNR are (and have been for some time).

    Cue the dislikes.

For the Brits, and especially Glasto attendees, AM are absolutely much bigger and well known, no doubt about it

    No probs!

I was a massive Oasis fan, since their start, so it's really bizarre and surprising to me too to see how Liam's popularity has skyrocketed. I credit a lot of it to nostalgia.....but then his new albums sell loads too, so it's not just that.

If you'd have said to me back in 1995 that Liam would be massive and Noel wasn't I wouldn't have believed it at all!

You'd be forgiven for thinking Liam's new stuff was Oasis with how it sounds, unlike Noel's stuff

I wondered how long it would take grumpy old Noel to chime In with his opinion....honestly if Fernando had half a brain, he would collect all these articles, ping Axl and give him a greivance, a point to prove. Axl has always given more when he's backed into the corner with the world against him sorta thing (see Axl/DC as recent(ish) example...)

Liam's always been the better Gallagher

If your a lefty it is. Download > Glastonbury

Without venturing to much down the rabbit hole, I'd argue Download is more 'lefty' now... Glastonbury has a lot more national (unsure about, but would also presume, global) coverage and covers a wider range of genres. The media coverage in the build up to Glasto somewhat proves that. Don't tend to see Download getting full sets broadcasted live anymore.
