Bring back SFTD? I don't remember it being a live song in there set, ever.

It wasn't. Some people are dumb ... or trolling .. or both. Life is short and you'd think people would have something better to do with their time, but apparently not cause they're lined up in the chat room nearly every night....

  2. It seems the same people clamoring for new material are the same ones complaining about the band playing CD songs, which is new to half the band and, unfortunately, a large percentage of the fans.

If the band were only playing the hits from the 1985-1993 era, people would be complaining about that too. Can't win.

Can't believe Axl is persisting with the dirge that is This I Love, it's truly a terrible song that would never have seen the light of day had Axl been part of a functioning "band".

Good thing for the rest of us that your opinion doesn't represent the majority -- nor the opinion of the band as they continue to play it ;)

but some of the other stuff seems a little inaccurate. Slash was married to someone else during his 1st GnR stint, divorced her in like 97, and didn't marry Perla til 2001, a good 5 years after he left GnR... so how could Axl not like her, think she's controlling, and so on? Maybe just through business dealings?

Perla was around during the UYI days, perhaps even earlier, as somewhat of a supergroupie. Slash had been seeing her back when the band was at its height. I'm sure there's more to it than any of us know about. But Axl certainly knew who she was and likely dealt with her on some sort of personal/professional level well before Slash married her.

This was the best show yet and i really hope some quality vids came up tomorrow

Axl and SLash and basically the whole band was tight as fuck. Even Slash stepped up on his game

It was great to share with this moment with youguys and gals, good fucking night:P:headbang:

Nice to read something positive from someone on this message board. The band does sound great despite the what the trollers/negative nancy's have to say.

I really wish seeker would be replaced on the set list.  I'm not picky with what I'd just like it to be a GNR tune.

    +1

I'm not really sure what the fascination is with playing that one. They've generally been playing 3 songs for the encore (except for the show I was at) and it would be nice if they played Don't Cry AND Patience as a lead in to PC. Sacrificing one of those songs for the Seeker is a bad trade off.

He sounded 100 times better in Vegas.

I do agree that Vegas sounded better. I think at least part of reason for that is the acoustics in the indoor arena. Can't get that same sound in an outdoor venue. The entire band sounded better, not just Axl. Having said that, they were in no way bad last night. Just different.

With regard to Axl's vocals, it has generally always been a YMMV situation but even more so with age.

I like how forum members insult and dismiss any review that isn't 100% positive about GnR.

This reporter isn't delusional or a fool or an idiot. He just has a different opinion than you do about a band.

I love how forum members dismiss the notion of someone being delusional or a fool or an idiot on the sole merit of having an "opinion". Those things aren't exclusive. You can have an opinion and still be an any or all of those things, as the writer of that piece surely proved (he couldn't get simple facts straight). As someone else pointed out above, referring to Nirvana as something meatier and more purposeful shows a complete lack of awareness. That's not an opinion, that's just flat wrong -- similarly to saying that, in your opinion, the sky is green.

As for the past 20 years part of it, I largely agree.

he sounds incredibly weak on SCOM, had to stop listening

Considering the topic of this thread, a negative comment is the all you could think to write? Rather that stop listening, perhaps you should have considered stopping typing instead.

Regarding the list, most of the items aren't wild in the least. That said, I did find it interesting (and unexpected) that the band went on stage around an hour earlier on SAT that they did on FRI.

    Kurt was trolling Axl

Iwhen it comes to the feud, i see that both parties as to blame. Kurt seems to have been an insecure little twit who started the whole thing, but Axl being the overly sensitive nutso he is fired back when he didn't need to and took it to a whole other level. He coulda looked like the bigger man had he just brushed off kurt's whining about him. My two pennies.

Well, judging by what eventually happened, we all know that Kurt was a troubled guy and that was the biggest reason for everything that happened. He just wasn't a happy dude and it showed in numerous ways ..,,

  11. There's far too much whining, complaining and hyperbole going on in this thread. Do you guys like GNR or not? I don't get it. If these songs are the "worst things ever", what the hell are you doing here? You might want to ask yourself that question.

As a lifelong fan of GNR, and all of the individual members work, I enjoyed the entire experience the past 2 nights. My son and I are still on a high over it. Sure, some moments were better than others, but there wasn't a bad moment in the 2 1/2 hours.

While I enjoyed parts of the CD album and Axl's ever-changing lineup of musicians over the years, I definitely fall into the classic and UYI lineup crowd. Having said that, I really enjoyed all of the CD songs that were performed. Fortus is a fantastic guitarist and a nice fit with Slash thus far. I wasn't much of a fan of Ferrer going in, but came out pleased with what I heard this weekend. Despite the criticism from some fans, I didn't hear anything awful. I think too many fans obsess over mundane details. Oddly, I think many of those same fans were the ones that blasted Axl for obsessing over the creation of CD for so damn long. Go figure.

  12. Whatever they decide to do, or not do, there will always be a group of fans that don't like it. There's no winning.

BTW, Live and Let Die may technically be a cover, but it was also a hit for the band and a staple of their live performances since the UYI tour. It's not really realistic to expect them to omit it. Plus, Axl sounded exceptionally good performing it the past 2 nights. Same goes for KOHD. Heck, they've been performing that since their club days.

I do agree with the point about Duff, but I think they may have the goal of playing at least 1 song from every album. New Rose/Attitude accomplishes that.

there is nothing 'legendary' about Slash joining Axl's experimental band project to play 30 year old songs that haven't aged well.

all the hyperbole statements how this nostalgia tour is going to 'historic' or 'legendary' are beyond laughable.

There's nothing historic or legendary to YOU. Big difference. You are in the vast minority with that opinion and if you don't recognize that, you're beyond naive.

And suggesting that their songs haven't aged well is far more hyperbolic and laughable than anything else stated in this thread.

Same here. There's absolutely no way I can afford the good seats. I haven't gone for any of the presales because I am on the fence about spending $60 - $70 to be all the way in the back and barely see them. It does bum me out.

This whining and crying about ticket prices baffles me -- especially from those that keep referring to themselves as superfans. $250 wouldn't separate a "superfan" from attending one single show.

Furthermore, many households spend upwards of $200 - 300 every single month for their cell phone service. And everyone seems to have those luxury items. But, somehow, a one time event for $100 - $250 is too much. Go figure.

I'm assuming these same people haven't been to a sporting event lately or taken the family on a night out to dinner and a movie. Everything is expensive nowadays.
