  1. I'm sure it will be BIG and SUCCESSFUL, and the song will have a video rotating on MTV every half hour.

seeing as how MTV no longer plays music... I find this an implausible idea.

  2. there are SO MANY different similarities between Rose & Hughes...

there may be one or two things similar between Rose and many other celebrities such as Mickey Rourke or whomever but Rose & Hughes really seem to have led identical lives...

  3. If the tracks we've already heard comprise ALL of chinese democracy then this should be their singles release order:

    1) IRS

    2) Madagascar

    3) Better

However... I expect there to be a rocker on Chinese Democracy that is a stronger leadoff single than IRS.

Working at a radio station, I know that expecting a song over 5 minutes in length to receive fair airplay is very risky. In fact, on our setlist of 1,000+ songs, a fair number of the longest songs we play are already G'n'R including Paradise City & November Rain. Radio stations/TV stations will not publicize a song above a certain length because it causes problems with creating adequately timed setlists and promos. Catcher in the Rye and There was a Time (my two favorite songs on the album) should be left alone and left for the public to find on their own. They are the gems on the album. With the current state of the music industry, I'm sad to say that sales will not necessarily depend on the quality of the music but on the catchiness of simple licks and unique video adaptations. Remember that the main music-purchasing audience are teenagers and young adults. The thing missing from G'n'R right now is something that was absolutely essential to their initial success... image. With MTV offering little to no support nowadays to music sales, an albums success depends more and more on this idea of a general public image. G'n'R, upon return, will not endow the same pinball effect of bad boy image->girls love them->guys follow girls interests. Instead, with Axl making this magical album, the main audience he will attract are the true music critics and lovers. Sadly, these individuals are a true minority.

If Axl makes an amazing album like the songs we've sampled, he will sell 2-3x platinum in the U.S within a year. Please don't expect their to be any real musical revolution with Chinese Democracy coming out because the differences of opinion between fans like ourselves and the common person are vastly different.

  4. I'm guessing we all saw this by now...

many of you seem to think that because of the recent tabloids regarding the whole Axl vs. Slash court cases and whatnot that there is no reason nor incentive for an Axl & Slash reunion. In fact, the level of hatred that many of you "Guns N' Roses fans" have towards former band members is absolutely disheartening.

The most important thing here is to remember that Axl & Slash are both human and like many of us, are capable of forgetting past disputes within seconds.

If you'll remember back in '91, Izzy Stradlin left Guns N' Roses. What followed was Axl ripping on Izzy at basically every opportunity he got. Tensions were high between the two former H.S. classmates until Gilby injured himself in the motorcycle accident.

When Izzy offered to return, it was as of nothing had happened. In fact, for those 5 tour dates in '93, it was as if Izzy had never left. Axl praised his appearance on stage and Izzy stayed following the tour to help out in the recording studio for some time to follow.

We all know that following the recent events it would seem to us that Slash & Axl despise one another and will never work out their differences. But, the exact same could've been said about Vince & Tommy of Motley Crue or Steve and Joe of Aerosmith... court cases against one another, newspaper articles slamming the opponent, anger & resentment. Forgetting past differences is only human - even if in the past week, one denied the other entry into his former bands concert.

The two most essential elements to the sound of Guns N' Roses are Axl and Slash. We all have heard the bootlegs from 2002 and I think it a presumable argument to say that it did not sound like G'n'R. As great a guitar player as Buckethead and Finck are, they are not Guns N' Roses. However open I am towards the new sound of Guns N' Roses (I LOVE the new tracks), I and assumingly many of you still crave for the old sound to still be present. Slash returning is the only way that the sound of the old G'n'R, the biggest band in the WORLD from '89-'93 can be restored even if the physical image is still off.

That said, Duff McKagan will NOT be offered an opportunity to return to Guns N' Roses until Tommy Stinson decidingly leaves the group on his own. We all know Axl to be the commander-in-chief of Guns N' Roses and we all know that Axl pays homage to those that are loyal to him. Case Numero Uno is Dizzy Reed. Hell, Axl even hired Paul Tobias, a friend of his back in Indiana, to join the band even though the guy was just an average guitar player at best. Someone like Tommy, who has never been anything but trustworthy to Axl, answering his call whenever asked, will never be kicked out of the band to be replaced by another - even if that other is Duff.

By 1997, Guns N' Roses was in shambles... the band was divided into camps that seemingly assumed crass communications at best. But, even with Axl controlling the band, he NEVER kicked anyone out. Despite turmoil that we could imagine, Axl assumed what he thought was the best thing for the band and kept it together until Slash/Duff/Matt left on their own account. It was never Axl's position to fire another... in fact, the only time he did was with the Adler case, and that was outside the general constraints.

In conclusion, Slash returning in the near future should not be considered an impossible idea. However, a true Guns N' Roses reunion is something that I don't think is yet on the horizon.

  7. Who cares who they get? its not like your paying to see anyone else besides Axl Rose, is it... <_<

Its embarrassing thats why. I care about the name Guns N' Roses and what it represents, a bad ass band with a "I don't give a fuck" attitude. Thats why when Buckethead joined it was clearly the wrong choice, ditto with this guy, can you imagine the stick Axl would get for hiring this geek. Best way to kill the band forever in my opinion. Not that I think this guy will ever grace the same stage as Axl Rose though, seriously Axl would eat this guy alive for breakfast.

i absolutey agree. it hurts when friends talk mockingly of Guns N' Roses, calling it "Guns N' Posers" because of guys who look NOTHING like the G'n'R of old. Richard Fortus I respect... Tommy Stinson... fine... Dizzy is great... but, the rest of the band... ehhhh... a new lead guitarist that looks like a classic rocker would be a big step in the right direction even if isn't Slash.

  8. looks like a retarded version of Adler.

So GNR is a fashion band rather than a music band?, who cares what he looks like the real question is can he play?????

jesus... if you think GNR could've gotten anywhere near as large with guys who looked like this guy, Finck & Buckethead or Brain on drums... trust me, your wrong.

  9. whether you want to believe it or not... the music isn't everything.

Chinese Democracy could never reach the same success as AFD because of many reasons, one being that the Guns N' Roses today does not have that popular appealing image that they had in the 80s.

Having a group of collective good-looking guys in a rock group is very important especially if each of these individuals are highly talented.

For that reason by itself, the G'n'R of today will never reach the heights it did back in the 80s and early 90s. And for that reason, Guns N' Roses (with the release of the new album) will NOT have this mythical effect on the music industry that many may think they will.

Image was half the reason for G'n'Rs success and its the half thats missing now.

I hope the new album will sell well, and I'm sure it will, but to say that adding this guy will not damage the G'n'R image is ludicrous. The only way for Guns N' Roses to each approach its former success is a reunion with Slash, Duff & Izzy. Not saying Axl won't receive great reviews for Chinese Democracy... just that regardless of how "good" it is... it won't be as big as AFD or UYI.

image does count..............i know, but you have finck and buckethead in the band? you can't hurt the gnr image more then that!.....this guy would be a small step forward.

this guy looks like the pillsbury dough boy with a blond wig

  10. Wow..Dizzy has a beautiful family!!!

He looks great and happy.. :)

    Nice pic,his girls a adorable!!

Why does Lisa Reed's profile say she is single and Dizzy's says he is married....whats the deal there?

not everybody takes their own myspace profile's seriously

  12. He got rid of the braids

Axl has the braids, Dizzy has dreads.

    and Dizzy rules rock3

    dizzy HAD dreads

he still has them. he ties them back sometimes.

btw, he's a lucky man to have such an awesome family.

  13. Im not sayin they'd play it again, but didnt GnR play a part of Estranged during the China show in 02?

    I dont think so

August 14th 2002. Hong Kong Exhibition Hall.

    Part of a fans review,

Then they played a much shortened version of "Estranged", really only the final climax of the song.

    New I wasn't going crazy.

    SP

it has been confirmed that this "shortened version of Estranged" was in fact "The Blues"

  14. When did Axl say Dont Cry was retired? People always quote him but ive never heard when he said it, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Apparently he said that in some interview from the 90`s..

I havn`t read it but i really want to..I just can`t find it anywhere.

    Me neither

i've been looking for that for a while now

Axl retired the song "Don't Cry" after the sudden death of Blind Melon frontman Shannon Hoon. Hoon was good friends with Axl (coming from the same town in Indiana), and it was in fact Axl who helped Hoon break into the music industry. Hoon recorded back-up vocals to "Don't Cry" on the Illusion albums, appeared in the video for Don't Cry, and appeared on-stage to sing 'Don't Cry' with Axl during noted concerts. Commemorating a man who was a true talent, Axl retired the song in his memory.

now... if it was Gene Simmons of Kiss retiring a song... you can probably expect it to be played again within 5 years... but Axl, a man known to keep his word, retiring a song truly means that you shouldn't ever expect to hear it again.

  15. Don't Cry (well... this song won't be performed again period)

    Dust N' Bones

    Double Talkin' Jive

    Coma

    Civil War

    Estranged

I agree with this list, although they did play Civil War during soundcheck at Vegas 2001.

Others that we'll never hear live again:

    Yesterdays

    Pretty Tied Up

    Dead Horse

    Move to the City

    Mama Kin

good call on Pretty Tied up!!

can you imagine Axl and the new band playing that song? :rofl-lol:
