I still wonder why Fernando said "The General is a monster". There's gotta be a connection, right?

This person appears to have recorded the General, but you have to wait until after all the guitar soloing and Perhaps.
I haven't listened to it all yet since I'm watching it now, but it's the person who livestreamed it in the twitter posts

Just watched this! This is a complete recording.
Thanks for sharing it!

The General clips from the soundcheck don’t let any doubt that the live version is exactly the same as the leak.
Hope they actually end up playing it and we get the closure that we desperately need. I'm getting tired debating about this topic.
Edit: APPARENTLY THEY JUST PLAYED IT!!!

The only question to me (many others seem to be very confident about it) is, if it's Richard at the very end of Monsters. It's like I'm changing my mind three times during one listen in those last 15 seconds damn that sucks.
Who else do you feel it could be?
To be honest, the first time I listened to it, that part felt like Slash trying to play like Robin. But then I noticed the tone change and certain nuances which made me fairly certain that it's Richard. The phrasing and tone is quite similar to what I've seen him play live.
One of the nuances I noticed is how he does a quick slide in and out certain notes (don't know how to describe it better). You can also hear him do the same thing in the part that he plays in the chorus of Madagascar if you listen closely. I've noticed Robin doing it sometimes too but it sounds slightly different.
Truthfully, I haven't listened to Richard and Robin outside of GnR so I could be totally wrong but to me it just makes sense that Richard would be the one playing on a mix that has Slash on it too.

The start of the solo at 3:53 follows a similar formula as the start of the Slither solo.
At 3:58, you get the classic repeating wah lick from Sweet Child O' Mine played at 4:32 (but it played at a different part of the neck so the notes are different). Slash uses this lick a lot.
At 4:12, you hear him bending down a note in sync with the wah pedal while picking the string multiple times, similar to the lick in By The Sword at 3:19.
The blazing fast part that happens a few seconds before the end of the solo is the only thing that doesn't sound like a typical Slash lick. But it it's just hammer-ons/pull-offs and doesn't involve any tapping/sweep picking that might indicate it was played by Bucket.

Actually, I was trolling, it means that Axl is is going to retire from music to live in Polynesia and marry a prostitute.
I thought he'd have wanted to live in Madagascar.

NEW ALBUM CONFIRMED!!!!
No, it obviously means that the reunion era is over and Robin and Bucket are coming back, because clearly Slash isn't playing on GnR songs anymore.

Guys, THE GENERAL is really bad, isn't it?
At first listen, I was like "wtf is this?". But now, it's grown on me a lot after I got past all the vocal effects and I feel it's one of the better songs from their recent releases.
I enjoyed Monsters from the start though and it's definitely the better one.

I mean Bucket plays something that sounds VERY similar during the outro on the demo but I suppose it could just be Slash replicating it on the final mix.
Yes. In the demo, Buckethead does a fast atonal tapping part in the outro. In the final version, it's probably Fortus doing a very similar tapping part and Slash playing a slower, picked version of the melody.

Can't believe people are still claiming that it's not Slash on these tracks. I will livestream myself eating my guitar strings if I'm wrong about Slash playing on both the songs.
I've listened to almost every song that Slash has put out and this is Slash playing on both TG and Monsters, period.

i know its just that riff in the chorus just sounds so not slash. i agree that slash ad duff are on the tracks its just that chorus riff is like a highschool garage band riff.
What's wrong with the chorus riff? It's just some tasty power chords.

Guns n Roses have always been cheese. They play a train horn every night before nightrain. They put "PRONOUNCED KOOL RANCH DRES'ING" in the liner notes for pretty tied up. The court down in Perfect Crime, the Smoke em if you got em at the end of Don't Damn Me. The dolphins in the Estranged video. The rain coat.
This band has always been corny and cheesey. The bell is just another part of it.
Your post reminded me of the WTTJ performance at the Bridge School in 2012. I always hear Axl say "We got all the cheeeese" instead of "We got your disease".

It's quite ridiculously funny, actually....I am a fan of Robin and Bucket....the first time I saw GNR live was NU-GNR and the shows were great...I can appreciate that time, while still knowing that Slash is the O.G of this band and there is no GNR without Duff and Slash in the first place...(or at least what it became) he is all time great, still making the top lists, go check out the newest Rolling Stone top 250 guitarists...where is Robin? Where is Bucket? Being a great iconic player is lot more than technical ability....if that's all it was, most teachers and sessions players would wipe the floor with the classic rock dudes! Slash playing on these tracks and folk thinking it's bucket is rather hilarious and kinda the best way of outing those that have opinions based on stigma and where they've parked their allegiance, rather than reality....it is the best thing to come out of this usual release mess!
Like a blind test of audio experts that can't tell the difference between 320 and FLAC!
That Rolling Stone list is a joke!

This 100%.
about the repeating lick, I’m struggling a bit to play it accurately. But after that there is an interesting run that’s very similar to what he’s been playing live.
Man, can't wait to hear your full cover if you plan on doing it!
I was thinking of learning some of the solos but I'm in the middle of learning other stuff right now. Tried figuring out some stuff from Monsters and it seemed fairly straightforward. The solo from The General is definitely going to be a challenge lol.
I'll probably wait for you to cover it and steal your notes.

After Ive listened to the songs on headphones, aside from the ending which Im almost sure is done by Fortus, I cant understand how is anyone thinking this is the bucket guy playing.
This is Slash and not some blbuleu kverlvjublbueklu dududud “guitarrist”
I believe people are attributing the outro solo of The General to Buckethead, not the one in Monsters that I assume you're talking about. Monsters outro is definitely Slash first and then Fortus. I understand people attributing Fortus' part to Robin because their styles are somewhat similar but Robin's playing is more usually more expressive than this and he uses a lot of staccato to highlight certain notes. The Monsters solo sounds similar to how Fortus plays live.
Coming to The General, one of the repeating licks in the outro solo is literally the fast repeating lick from the SCoM/Slither solos that Slash is well-known for overusing, just in a different order of notes and higher speed.

Well, if Slash has played something that people think is Buckethead, he's definitely outdone himself! Gotta send posts from this thread to Slash haters after the song is officially out.
