What revelations about GN’R music are you alluding to?

I just watched it, all he mentioned was that he worked on “Axl’s songs” during the pandemic.

The next album is a new Conspirators release following OotD. Nothing else GN’R related mentioned.

He only mentioned “I want a Guns record done” around 8:50 mark. For what it’s worth…

  2. This European leg was great! I went to three shows: Graspop, Rome and Weert. Axl’s mic sound had issues at Graspop and had a comfortable VIP Deck ticket there, so watched it from a distance, knowing I would be in the GC for the two other shows. The atmosphere and location in Rome were the best, Circo Massimo in the heart of the city was so great! Sound wise, Weert was the best out of the three, at least for me.

New music is a nice to have, but I don’t let the lack of it ruin the joy of the nostalgia act and the soundtrack of my life. Plus: I’d rather have PTU, Reckless Life, Locomotive, DOTF (I always liked that TSI song so much, finally it was played!!!), Anything Goes and My Michelle than a new song. Watching Axl having a lot of fun and having a better voice was great and made it better than previous legs. I

Next time I will be there again a few times, whether or not there will be new music, I don’t care :-)

Jeez what a review.... I was also in the golden circle and actually had one of the best evenings in a long time. I saw them last year in Hannover after not seeing them since the 90's and was then already pleasantly suprised, but yesterday was in my opinion even much better. What I really loved was the pure energy from the whole band. Very nice uptempo, lots of enthousiasm which looked very genuine to me. Ok Axl struggles on some points, but he makes it up at so many points with his whole being, the raw power he still has in both his physical presence on stage and as well in his voice.
I finally had a place in the golden circle where I could really enjoy Slash (always my favorite gunner) and I am a professional composer and sound designer for more then 20 years with a lot of experience and speaking from a professional perspective I can only say that this is a PRO with not enough capitals to emphasize what a top musician Slash is, so the article speaking about Slash that he just plays the solo's hasty and sloppy is an insult and shows me the reviewer really lacks both knowledge and an independent view. This reviewer had as I read it already made up his mind before he attended the concert.

But I had a heck of evening and saw only enthousiams and positive folks around me and when walking back to the car I didn't hear any negative thing, the contrary, people where enthousiastic and seemed like they had a nice evening. Which it was!

    Couldn’t agree more!

  4. Reviews by the newspapers are in general not very positive, but this one is brutal:

Me and my friends had a blast, the sound was really good, the golden circle was pretty small. They also point out that the band was late like in the past but don’t blame the organizers for the worst parking experience ever, we were stuck in the traffic jam for 2 hours (couldn’t walk due to my knee injury) and were glad that ultimately we only missed two songs. I am sure the traffic was the reason for the delay. My impression was that everyone around us had a blast as well! I am usually more a Slash fan but Axl owned the stage!  Don’t know what these journalists are talking about, but maybe they had some vinegar for breakfast…

Not a clue, but there was a full page ad in the newspaper a couple days ago promoting the show, so I feel they are pretty desperate to sell some more last minute tickets.

Of course the bad ticket sales don’t look good, but the upside may be a relatively intimate concert and hopefully a very small Golden Circle, which tend to become bigger and bigger. It was pretty big in Rome.

  6. Waiting in the plane at Fiumicino Airport to go back to the Netherlands. What a great show, great energy and I really liked the location, the setting of Circo Massimo is great and my hotel was literally next to the field). On to the show in Weert on Tuesday, curious how many tickets have been sold by now.

Not sure there will be a soundcheck, doors open at 2pm, so it'd have to be a very early one if they do. Darkness are on the main stage at 345pm, smaller acts in the tents starting from 230pm. It is possible they could soundcheck this afternoon i guess? no one is playing today.

I think the venue is open for “Open House” today, lot of activities during non-concert days, so I would guess no soundcheck today.

Last year, I walked through Hyde Park recovering after two nights of Pearl Jam, when on the Sunday morning around 11am, Duran Duran was soundchecking for that night. Was actually fun hearing “Wild Boys”.

For what it’s worth, might be a scenario for the GNR soundcheck tomorrow.

Pity I need to miss the show as my wife told me last week that she actually is in the UK this week for work, so I needed to stay home in the Netherlands for the family and sold my ticket. As good trade-off I will now be enjoying GNR in Rome (always wanted tondo a gig in an ancient setting) next week when it will be a comfortable 35 degrees haha.
