Denver is an A market. They get all the big bands and have one of the greatest venues in the world at Red Rocks. Denver is a major hub and bands stop there all the time on their way to the west or east coast. It's a major concert market. Metallica did more than sell well. They sold out and it had nothing to do with birthday bash. Also the Denver downtown isn't that bad after ball games. Been there done that. It's one of the easier downtown cores to navigate when it's insanely busy so........
U2 hasn't had seats on the floor since the Popmart tour in the 90s. U2 just toured the United States and will again in the fall and they didn't and won't have seats on the floor.
Yeah no chairs for US Bank Stadium - U2

Interesting - "Guns N’ Roses’ strict photo-ownership policy prevented the Star Tribune from photographing the band."
That's been around for a while.

I haven’t seen this band live since 1992 UYI – Target Center, Minneapolis.
I wasn’t going to get tickets but decided Saturday afternoon to do so.I have read many reviews/thoughts on shows on this forum since it the reunion started. So let’s just say I know what to expect after each and every show.
My thoughts on last night in Minneapolis- Great show!!
The band played for the people in the stadium they didn’t play for those watching on the internet. I had my phone out to video the McBob intro and then it went into my pocket for the rest of the show. I just listened and soaked it all in.
Axl- was amazing. For him to power through those songs without blowing a lung out is pretty special. I understand why some songs are sped up, have extra long guitar solos, or why Duff sings one or sometimes two songs, why Axl is not as hot in the sound mix—to give Axl a break and protect his voice. In regards to speeding songs up for example---In 1983 Journey on their Frontiers tour sped up a number of songs as well – why? To protect Steve Perry’s voice. They had a heavier schedule than NITL GNR, but Axl clearly is pushing his voice a lot harder than Perry did. This is also why we get some “mickey” on some songs. If Axl was to sing like it was 87-92 you would have a number of cancelled shows.
Slash- Good lord. Guy is killin’ it up there. He was just kind of let go to tear it up and the band was locked in to see all of his nonverbal cues to end songs-- Outside of course of the obvious-- jumping off the stairs.
Duff- Strong as ever-- You can tell he is the glue for this band. Great lead and backing vox.
Richard- Solid player he didn’t a great job! I would put his playing right up there with Izzy’s Now on the songs writing etc for this band Izzy has the lead but who knows what’s coming down the road.
Dizzy- Keyboards- Honestly couldn’t get that focused on him outside of the solo and bongos.
Melissa- outside of the backing vox and helping hit some of the high notes- She was just there. I know she was playing a lot of the samples, FX stuff but yeah.
Frank- Being a drummer myself I thought he did a great job. I know he takes a lot of crap on here but he is a better fit for this band than Matt- Not a reflection on Matt’s playing but Matt is a metronome. He is good at what he does but this band still needs to have some swagger to compliment Slash’s playing. Slash probably is just ecstatic with Frank because he is loose and yet keeps it locked in. Unfortunately, something Steve could not be counted on to do on a nightly basis. If you think Frank plays everything to fast and this or that I am pretty sure Axl, Slash and Duff would have removed him from the band a LONG time ago. He is doing what he is asked to do.
The show was great the music was great. Nothing was exactly how the AFD or UYI Cd’s were recorded. They shouldn’t be --It’s a LIVE concert expect things to be different.

Oh was it Maiden? Ok my bad. I thought it was Aersomith-- everyone, including most Junior College stage bands, was crushing them on stage. LOL I was at the 92 Target Center show and never saw any of the solo Axl shows. would be fun to see them again, but just not in a huge indoor stadium.

Going to be a big weekend in Minneapolis
Billy Joel Friday 7/28 Target Field (MN Twins Stadium)
Florida Georgia line/Nelly/ Back Street boys 7/29 Target Field
GNF’NR 7/30 US Bank Stadium
Too bad there wasn’t another show booked for TCF Bank Stadium (Gophers football Stadium) or Target Center (Timberwolves arena) for Monday night.
The original 5 have NEVER played Minnesota as a band. The closest that we ever had was this show, but Fred Coury (Cinderella) played drums that night due to Steven’s broken hand/arm. They were supposed to come back that next year opening for Aerosmith, but Axl blew out his voice and had to cancel a number of shows. If you haven't listened to it- its pretty good!

After seeing them in '92 on the UYI tour stop in Minneapolis. This was my OMG moment after all the solo band stuff.

The question is "Where's Izzy" at the end? LOL

This is what the internet does. Gives everyone a opportunity to Monday Morning Quarterback every show instead of just enjoying the show for what it was/is. This band is not Rush where everything is going to be perfect every night.

What is Axl saying, before PC, about being his fault? Didn't understand half of it.
Slash's guitar was way out of tune when he started PC. He had to retune a string or two.

Lots of trucks hauling this tour around. I remember talking with one of the drivers for the Stones Bigger Bang Tour and he said they had 110 semi's on the road for that tour. 55 for each venue leap frogging across America. They started load in on Friday for this show. According to Opie they are "already planning for next year."

A crew of about 250 set the stage at Heinz Field on Monday afternoon for a concert 24 years in the making.
“It's been exciting,” said Dale “Opie” Skjerseth, the production manager for Guns N' Roses, which will perform at the football stadium as part of their “Not in This Lifetime” tour Tuesday night. “Everybody's having a good time. The band's enjoying it, and so are we.”
A small yellow forklift zipped across grey turf that covered the field as several people milled about on the stage looming nearby. Set-up for the show began Friday with 16 trucks loading the stage, decking and flooring into the stadium. Seventeen production trucks arrived Monday, and crews that began working the stadium at noon were set to finish by 7 or 8 p.m.
“It's very simple,” Skjerseth said during a media tour of the stadium. “Eight hours, and we're done. Ready to go. Ready for the band.”

some of ya'll are crazy. I came back from the show fully expecting everyone to be as amazed as me and saw things like "feel bad for the KC people" or "glad that's not MY show" like stfu. I was there and it was phenomenal!
The crowd was INSANE. Guys a row or two in front of me passing a joint back and forth, everyone on their feet the entire time, people high fiving each other after songs lol. Girls puking as we were walking out. You have to walk up this embankment to get back to the road and people were literally crawling up it on their hands and knees. TOTALLY felt like 90's era crowd.
A couple of things:
- couple of guys sitting beside me said RQ was their favorite song of the night. Another guy, while leaving yelled "they sing The Who better than The Who!" All the GnR staples got massive roars when they'd start, SCOM probably the loudest.
-Axl was super smiley last night. Someone was holding up a sign and he pointed at it and said "that's good". After Coma he goes "well that was festive".
- Slash also pointed and smiled at someone in the audience during Seeker. He's more mellow on stage and it's super easy to get pics of him because of it lol. He also became more undressed as the night went on.
- Duff has CRAZY stage presence! He's on the left, then the right, up the stairs, down the stairs. He plays with the crowd a lot, I can't tell you how many picks he goes through each concert. He sounded awesome, his background vocals really come through
When you're actually there, you're not paying as much attention to song tempo or a missed song lyric. You're just in the moment and on the most intense adrenaline high. I thought Axl sounded fine, he'd let out a scream and the crowd would go wild. ONLY "mistake" a heard was him blowing the whistle late on PC but even that was like something to registered for a split second and then I didn't think about it again until reading the comments here. I came out of it wanting to leave my life and just become a groupie, it was one of the best nights of my life. I probably looked like an idiot the entire time, I couldn't stop smiling.
so yeah, I know it;s easy to sit at home and be like "mess up there...oh, missed a note there...." but everyone who went that I saw was like THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME"
Perfect Review. A live show is an experience and you should enjoy it!

Dude relax...I totally get and understand all that. I actually defended the tempo a bit last night. But damn there are just some songs that feel terribly sped up. And that's fine, except some songs lose their groove and bluesy appeal when that happens. My opinion of course. And shove the listening to the record statement up your ass. That's just silly.
Listen to 3:00- 3:50 "Dude."
... and I am relaxed thanks. Have a good day.

Jungle isn't the only fast song...but since you like comparing can you do that for paradise city?
I am just saying that playing LIVE is different than being in the studio. I know that some bands will play songs faster live because is helps protect the singers voice. Not saying that is the case here but there are so many factors in a live show that are not issues sitting in a recording studio. If you want it to sound like the CD... listen to the CD.
Paradise City- Main section
Kansas City 111 BPM- Ferrer Drums
AFD- 102 BPM Adler
Paris '92 -- 100 BPM Sorum
Ritz- 107 BPM-- Adler
Freddie Mercury Tribute-- 98 BPM Sorum

Somewhere many pages ago someone posted that Jungle was way too fast. I thought, as a drummer, I would do a comparison just to see. I used a Periscope of the song from the Kansas city show and from some other shows.
Kansas City (Avery Drury Periscope) ---124 BPM (Beats Per Minute) Ferrer on Drums
AFD CD ---123 BPM Adler on Drums
Paris '92-- 124 BPM Sorum on Drums
Ritz NY-- 130 BPM Adler on Drums
'nuff said.

Sounds like he says "we see you sitting there you think your so cool but we just might have....." Probably referring some area of the crowd.
