Offtopic but Poison did actually get kinda gritty when CC Deville left the band and Richie Kotzen and Blues Saraceno replaced him. Both those albums Native Tongue and Crack A Smile are way more listenable than the 80s fluff they made and actually could be called hard rock. Good 2 albums.

I am honestly not much familiar with their music after CC left. I am intrigued now.

It's fairly cheap to walk on the ferry but then I'd have to bus to Vancouver and find a hotel, and it's about $80-90 each way to drive on (but I can sleep in my truck if I have to). Basically, if I want to see a show in Vancouver and the ticket is $50, it would end up costing me something like $250 for the show/transportation/maybe food. But yea, otherwise it's a nice city, lots of tourists in the summer go to Butchart Gardens and the harbour.

$50 to $250 Wow!!! That's like a 500% increase in funds. Yikes! For that kind of investment I would be very discriminating in who I choose to see live. Maybe I'd try my damnedest to win some tix from the radio lol.

I agree, cmon guys bands like Dangerous Toys that obviously had the guy channeling Axl way too fucking hard, and Danger Danger wtf? Might aswell name Poison then

Booooo. Lol. Dangerous Toys was way more gritty than Poison could ever be however I can see your point about Jason McMaster channeling Axl.

What do you think about White Trash though? Ever heard of them? They were my first choice. I linked some of their songs on the first page.

  4. @AxlCole That is an amazing experience. Sorry it didn t work out but boy do you have a story to tell! Love the demos also, btw. You've got a very unique voice. Very nice!

Maybe Slash was being nice but maybe he was telling the truth also. I heard that's what happened with AC/DC. The band really liked the tribute band singer but ultimately decided on Axl for his big stage experience and name recognition. So who knows...

Artists/Bands who probably should be inducted too..

I am not sure about the rest of your list but Prince and NWA are already in. Prince was inducted in 2005 I think. Just looked it up, He was inducted in 2004, anyway...NWA, last year. You didn't hear about all the drama between NWA and Gene Simmons over NWA's induction?

To be fair, I live on Vancouver Island and it just costs more for bands to get here, so sometimes they inflate ticket prices. Alice Cooper did the same thing when I saw him in a theatre, I think Elton John did it when he played the same arena that Aerosmith did... it sucks because there's tons of concerts I want to see in Vancouver but the ferry costs usually deter me, so when bands come here sometimes it ends up barely being cheaper than just seeing them on the mainland <_<

If they came back and tickets were reasonable I'd go see them.

Wow, how much are ferry tolls and how many miles is it between the island and mainland? Sounds like the cost of taking a train or bus between cities. On a side note, I bet where you live is beautiful.

  7. Can't really say that I'm a fan. I don't own any of their music and the radio songs are ok BUT...I absolutely fucking LOVE Papercut!!!! I cannot stress the love I feel for this song enough lol..

A farewell tour will pretty much mean the same setlist with all the greatest hits in it. Like the one on the last 15 tours. Steven's refusal to mix it up is annoying, the entire band wants to shake things up and there's Mr. Tyler who refuses to sing anything different than what we've heard loads of times before. I get that you got to please an audience, but there's no reason why 80% of the set needs to stay the same.

And that's a shame because there is so much great material that has collected dust and is sitting on the shelf. Hell, even a couple from Done With Mirrors would be cool. Darkness - for a deep cut, and Let The Music Do The Talking - for a revisit, comes to mind. The last time I saw them they flirted with the intro of Hangman Jury from Vacation and I went nuts, ugh, but they I only used it to go into another song but I can't remember which one it was.

@DieselDaisy I agree about the ballads and easier listening songs for the most part although I Angel and Crying are classics, IMO. I never cared for Jani's Got A Gun at all. The message is compelling but I got burned out on that one real quick with the heavy radio and MTV play. Pearl Jam's Jeremy is another one that I can barely listen to these days for the same reason.

The cynic in me suggests this will be the 'farewell'' until they decide to ''reunite'!

Right. How many farewell tours were truly farewells? I can't think of any bands that actually quit forever after embarking on a farewell tour, not off the top of my head at least

If you had seen them in the early/mid 70's you would not compare them to tne Stones....I saw them 6 times 74- 78 and nobody put on a better show back then.......

I believe that. They rocked like hell in the old YouTube videos I've seen of some of their 70's shows.

So far I am still experiencing post SF concert high....most likely because it was my very first show ever seeing these guys and I planned this trip in just a months time...so not a lot of build up. It all happened super fast which is why my excitement is still at an all time high! I keep looking at the pics I took, wrote a review which our local rock station posted on their fb page....pretty much just talking to everyone about gnfnr!!!! I am sure everyone around me is sick of it lol...but too bad! :P This was a f**kin dream come true for me that I still am wrapping my brain around the fact that I actually made it happen!!!! I absolutely hope to see them again and till then, thank god for PERISCOPE!!

Hopefully you will stay high because the crash sucks lol...

Awesome that your local radio station posted your show review. That is cool. ?

I think it's called LOVE! I have always and will always love this band and it's members unconditionally...and they like to play hard to get which makes it all the more sweet when you get. Ha kidding...but seriously I feel the same way after seeing them in Toronto already nearly a month ago! PCD (Post Concert Depression) and hope I have the chance to live that same feelings and excitement again in the future of being in the same building with them as they perform. The joy of going to that concert was pure bliss. Easily a highlight in my life. In my case in the months leading up to the concert I was trying not to let myself get too excited so I didn't indulge in months of devoted music listening/youtube watching like I probably would have otherwise. I was just too nervous about jinxing it with any enthusiasm as I would have been devastated had anything been cancelled. Now us fans that have to wait for the next move...it's excruciating for sure (will they, won't they call us back - I mean record some new music). At least we are in a very positive moment in time and they seem to be too so just a little patience. Gosh I ramble when I'm up past my bedtime.

You summed it up perfectly. See I did indulge in the constant GNR feed...videos, interviews, playing their records, etc. Did that for several months straight. The concert was phenomenal. And like someone else said, it's as if Christmas is over. That's exactly how it feels to me. Like I'm a kid and Christmas is over, Winter break is over and it's time to go back to school. Boooooooo lol

They have got to know that we are still oh so hungry. They have us wrapped around their fingers.

I saw the Stones for the first (and only) time on the Voodoo Lounge tour too!  It must have been the summer of 94 because I was with my first wife.  And it was at the same location I just saw Guns (thought apparently they knocked that stadium down so this is a new one in the same location).

Cool! That was one hell of a show. It was at the stadium at the Mizzou campus in Missouri. My boyfriend and I were sitting in nosebleeds. Blind Melon opened for them but we missed most of their set unfortunately. Shannon Hoon would die a little over a year later.

So here's a little TMI...lol. I was so excited to see The Stones that I refused to go to the bathroom during their set. We were in nosebleeds and when I say nosebleeds, we were in the very last row. So when I had to go I just sort of wrapped my jacket around my waist, scooted out of my pants and went over the back of the bleacher seat.

Well eventually more people sat behind us and I had to go again. I couldn't pull the same trick as before so this time I just wet my pants. I know, I know!!! That's nasty as hell but hey, I was 16 and mesmerized by The Stones. It was the first ever major concert I had seen and I didn t want to miss anything. And I haven't done that since. The Stones are the only band that I have pissed my pants for lol...

Haha..maybe, I dunno. I always dug them. They were pretty raw, and I am a fan of raw things lol. I played this album on a regular back in the day.

My picture didn't go through, oh well..

I'm sure this has been a thread at some point, but who to y'all listen to that's similar to GNR when you need something extra? (I mean, when you don't want to wait 14 years for new stuff to be released).

I love my AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Scorpions, but I can't help but feel like there's another GNR-like band that's perhaps underrated and lesser-known that I haven't given a shot yet.

Do you remember White Trash and Dangerous Toys? Late 80's, early 90's.

White Trash had that hit Apple Pie. Good song but the unreleased material on that album was something else. I believe they may have a follow up but I could never find it. Anyway those guys were like GN'R meets the The Chilli Peppers and they should have been much more successful than they were. They had a full time horn section. Grunge killed them and it's a real shame. Here's a few...the singer can be a tad shrill but this band is badass..love them and still listen to this album. Listen to these. The rest of the album is on YouTube.

Dangerous Toys had the hit Teas'n Pleas'n. I'll link that and a couple of others. Jason Master is an awesome singer. Fuzzy photo at the bottom but it's a picture of my husband and I with him. He was doing a gig singing for Sad Wings, a Priest tribute band.

This one here is my favorite..."Outlaw"

    a poor man's Rolling Stones

I never understood that statement. Besides the similarities of Mick and Steven's lip size and onstage swagger, Aerosmith as a whole has a their own sound...in my opinion at least.

I saw them with Mötley as well, it was my first real big rock show too. They brought out Nikki Sixx to do Helter Skelter which was cool but I thought Mötley were actually the better show that night. Saw them again in 2010 and they were good, I don't know if I'd go see them again though. I skipped them when they came to my city because tickets were $200 each <_<

Makes me wonder how much tix will be for the farewell.

I saw them in 2006. One of the cancelled shows was in 2009, I think Steven Tyler was sick for that one. But they only cancelled it like an hour before doors opened, and I'd already driven 5 hours. I can't remember exactly what year the other one was, maybe 2010?

Wow. I would have been pissed!!! A five hour drive for nothing. I can't say I blame you for not giving the band another chance. That sucks..

Aww man. You mention you had a chance to see them "again." Did you catch a show during this tour or were you referring to a previous tour? And sorry to hear about your kitty. I love little fur babies. Is yours ok now?
