  1. DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHERE OTHERS ARE COMPARED TO YOU! Music is about individuality man.... move at your own pace and do things your own way.

I'm also the same way though dude... My improv seems to be stale after a minute or so.. and I seem to get less and less comments on my playing as I seem to feel that I'm getting better... so it sucks because I don't know whether my playing is really getting worse or what

  2. The link doesn't work... but you don't have to worry about rushing in and forcing notes... the most important thing is putting emphasis on the right notes... speed isn't #1 in the blues (But if you mix the two perfectly it can be cool (Gary Moore)).

Mind reuploading? And... anyone wanna collab on like a blues based backing track or something?

  3. Help me please, when I'm playing guitar and I want to fret with my pinky, I feel a bone move or crack in my pinky. Is this normal? I'm hoping it will go away, I haven't used my pinky much and it started to hurt after playing the fast run in the SCOM solo

You should probably see a doctor.

  4. I came across this on limewire while searching for Dream Theater. It is called Lost Without You and and it says the peformer is Dream Theater, but I am assuming that all that information is wrong, since I searched for Lost Without You and it turned up no results and it doesn't even recognize it as a Dream Theater song. Does anyone here know the actual title and guitarist that performs this? Thanks much. It's a slow, bluesy track with some piano in the back. I was thinking maybe a Gary Moore tune or somethin', but I can't tell.

  5. I recorded and tried to show how it works using an example of Slither (I never learned the solo, just from what I've messed around with, but the little lick that involves what you're talking about is correct).

This solo is mostly in D minor pentatonic. If you don't know what that is, learning your pentatonic scales will help a lot with learning a lot of these licks, since 99% of rock licks are based off those scales (Maybe not 99%, but you catch my drift). What I do when playing it is bend bend the 3rd string 12th fret up (Which is a G note) to an A note (3rd string 14th fret) using my third finger, and then hitting the 10th fret second string (Another A note) with my first finger and then hammering on to the 13th fret 2nd string and pulling off quickly back to the 10th fret. Then you just repeat that a couple times pretty quickly. I slowed it down in the video to see what I'm saying, and here's a tab if it's still confusing.

That's what the tab would look like. b meaning bend, h meaning hammer on, and p meaning pull off. I also included a clip of the solo of Slither from a performance on Letterman. Sorry for the shitty quality of the video, and I wasn't using a wah pedal so that's why the solo won't sound exact to the one on the record. If you still got any questions or what-ev just post'm, or someone else try explaining if I didn't do a good job or just made things confusing. But I can't stress how important it is to learn those penatonics man; it's the basis of everything holy, man!

Anyway, good luck to you and your playin'
